In a first trailer for “The Game” Season 2, shared exclusively with TheWrap, players on and off the field are tested by the pro football league’s unionization efforts, which leads to confrontation, betrayals and, of course, power plays. The sophomore season of the Paramount+ revival series will premiere with two episodes on Dec. 15.
“The Game” stars Wendy Raquel Robinson, Hosea Chanchez, Adriyan Rae, Vaughn Hebron, Analisa Velez and Toby Sandeman. Per the sports drama’s logline, it offers a “modern-day examination of Black culture through the prism of professional football. The beloved characters tackle racism, sexism, classism and more as they fight for fame, fortune, respect and love — all while trying to maintain their souls as they each play ‘The Game.'” In Season 2, the drama and laughs double as the core group fights to survive the storms of change.

Here is a wrap-up of all the news you need to know from Thursday, January 2021.
The forthcoming female-led reboot of Doogie Howser has found its lead in Peyton Elizabeth Lee (Andi Mack).
The series is titled Doogie Kameāloha, M.D., and is a female-led reimagining of the classic ABC medical dramedy, the streamer announced Thursday.
The streamer also dropped the logline:
Set in modern-day Hawaii, the 10-episode comedy follows Lahela "Doogie" Kamealoha, a mixed race 16-year-old girl, juggling a budding medical career and life as a teenager.
Guiding Lahela (and also complicating things) is her family, including her spit-fire Irish mother who’s also her supervisor at the hospital, and her ‘Local Boy’ father struggling to accept that his daughter is no longer his little girl.
The original Doogie Howser starred Neil Patrick Harris, and aired on ABC from 1989 to 1993.
The rest of the cast will be announced at a later date.

Amy Schumer and Bill Hader in TrainwreckPhoto: Universal Pictures With Sundance just wrapping up and Berlin starting up in a few days, we are now immersed in the year-long barrage of film festivals. One such festival in South By Southwest. A few weeks back they announced the first seven films of their program, including the opening night film Brand: A Second Coming. Today, they have revealed the rest of the features to be shown in March (except for the midnight program), and some of it has me very excited. The bigger titles announced do not do much for me. Paul Feig's Spy, starring Melissa McCarthy, and the Will Ferrell/Kevin Hart starrer Get Hard leave a lot to be desired in terms of anticipation, as does a work in progress cut of Judd Apatow's latest film Trainwreck. I'm guessing an Apatow work in progress is probably around three and a half hours.

When Pulp Fiction opened in theaters 20 years ago today, the mainstream moviegoing audience was introduced to a dynamic new Hollywood talent. Quentin Tarantino was a 31-year-old hipster whose formal film education never rose much higher than working as a clerk in a Manhattan Beach video store. A walking encyclopedia of film history who fetishized some of the more obscure genres, Tarantino had a gift for dialog and his own visual toolbox that expanded the language of cinematic storytelling. Pulp Fiction was the culmination of a two-year stretch where the director went from Nobody to Wunderkind, beginning with the Sundance premiere...

"Legit" might not be Fxx's most popular comedy, but it should be one of them. After a critically acclaimed first season, the Jim Jefferies-starring series is only sharper, funnier and more brutally heartwarming in Season 2.
Though Wednesday's (Feb. 26) premiere episode isn't as jarring or as uplifting as Season 1's, "Legit" finds its groove much easier in Season 2 than it did last year. The characters of Jim, Billy (DJ Qualls) and Steve (Dan Bakkedahl) feel lived in here, and the episodes feel like one part of a larger story instead of just funny jokes conceived as episodes, which is more akin to "Louie."
In fact, it's hard to compare "Legit" to much of anything on television right now, and that's part of what is so exciting about it. After viewing the first four episodes, it's clear that Jefferies and co-creator Peter O'Fallon aren't afraid to push the bounds of what is politically correct on television.

"Legit" didn't leave main characters Jim (Jim Jefferies) and Steve (Dan Bakkedahl) in the best places at the end of Season 1, and life doesn't get much better for them in Season 2. Still, according to the cast, watching their downward spirals is going to be so much fun for viewers.
Zap2it visited the Venice, Calif., set of "Legit" in November when Jefferies, DJ Qualls, Bakkedahl and creator Peter O'Fallon were shooting one of the final episodes of Season 2. As they later teased at their 2014 TCA Winter Press Tour panel, this season will deal with Jim suffering from sex addiction and Dan being an alcoholic. It's not going to be a pretty sight.

"Legit" is heading with confidence into its second season. The cast and producers of the Fxx critical darling took to its TCA 2014 winter press tour panel with no concern about how the somewhat touchy subjects of Season 2 will resonate.
Among the storylines being explored on "Legit" are Jim's (Jim Jefferies) sex addiction, Steve's (Dan Bakkedahl) alcoholism and Billy's (DJ Qualls) use of an experimental drug to help him deal with his muscular dystrophy. Balancing out those serious plot arcs are scenes like one where Jim decides to urinate on Billy, who can't move to avoid it because of his disease.
"It's amazingly poignant," co-creator Peter O'Fallon says of the urine scene. Jefferies adds, "It's as touching of a water sports scene as you've ever seen."
But even with the ridiculous nature of some of Season 2's tales, expect "Legit" to stay grounded. O'Fallon says, "The one difference we have between...

Australian comedian Jim Jefferies is rolling into FX.
Co-created by Peter O'Fallon and Jefferies, the network has ordered a pilot episode of "Legit," set to air in January 2013.
The series centers on a comedian (Jefferies) and his "misguided attempts to become legitimate in life." His best friend Steve (Dan Bakkedahl) and Steve's brother Billy (DJ Qualls) attempt to help him along the way.
"I couldn't be happier than getting to do this show," Jefferies said in a statement. "FX has set the bar so high with shows like Louie and Sunny, but I believe Peter and I have created something special. The cast is amazing and FX has given us all the freedom we need. I can't wait for people to see it."
"Legit" joins other FX comedies, including "It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia," "Archer" and "Louie."...
