Remember The Listener? Starring Craig Olejnik and Ennis Esmer, this is the show about a young paramedic who can hear people's thoughts.
NBC picked up the sci-fi drama and started airing it back in June 2009. It wasn't a success so they cancelled it. However, the series is a success for CTV in Canada and has been running there for four seasons. Last October, it was picked up for a fifth year.
In 2011, Us cable channel Ion purchased the rights to air the first two seasons of The Listener, with an option to purchase later seasons. They've now made a deal to co-produce season five and will air previous episodes as well. The newest installments are expected to be released later this year.

Ion Television has joined Shaftesbury, Canadian network CTV and Fox International as a producer on the Canadian procedural drama series The Listener for its 13-episode fifth season, which started production earlier this year. Under the agreement, Ion becomes the exclusive U.S. television network for originals of fifth and future seasons of the series. Ion has been carrying The Listener — in 2011, the network acquired the first two seasons of the drama, which was originally picked up by NBC for a summer 2009 run of Season 1, which was cut short after several episodes. After the show did well alongside CBS’ off-network procedurals, including Criminal Minds and Law & Order; Criminal Intent, I hear Ion exercised its option to become a co-producer of original episodes. The network used a similar strategy for another popular Canadian procedural drama, Flashpoint, first inking a syndication deal with CBS for the show’s Season 1-4 episodes that had...

CTV announced today a 13-episode fifth season order for its original drama series "The Listener," bringing the series total to 65 episodes. Produced for CTV by Shaftesbury in association with Fox International Channels, and distributed by Shine International, the one-hour drama stars Craig Olejnik as mind-reading crime-solver Toby Logan. The announcement was made at Mipcom, the world's annual entertainment content market in France, with cast members Craig Olejnik and Lauren Lee Smith in attendance. During its fourth season on CTV, "The Listener" continued to drive million-plus audiences, including a series-high 1.4 million viewers, and ranked among the Top 15 most-watched programs in Canada this past summer. Season 4 also saw A25-54 growth in Toronto,...

As you may recall, NBC cancelled The Listener two years ago after an unsuccessful summer run. For whatever reason, the series about a young paramedic (Craig Olejnik) who has the ability to listen to people's thoughts, just didn't catch on in the United States and did poorly in the ratings.
The show is produced in Canada and, despite the lack of interest in the Us, it continues to be popular north of the border and internationally. The Listener was renewed for a second season of 13 installments in November 2009. Production didn't start until September 2010 and the episodes just recently finished airing in Canada.
Now, CTV has renewed the series for a third season of 13 episodes. According to CTV, The Listener is one of the few scripted Canadian series to average more than one million viewers each week. It showed double-digit growth...

Two days ago, it was revealed that production began on the second season of the Canadian TV series The Listener. Now, Shaftesbury Films, the production company behind the show, has revealed new details about what viewers should expect about The Listener's second season. In a nutshell, expect to see new characters and new things for the leading characters to deal with.
The new faces joining the regular cast will be Lauren Lee Smith (CSI: Crime Scene Investigation), Tara Spencer Nairn (Corner Gas) and Sebastien Roberts (Canada Russia ‘72).
In the second season of The Listener, Toby Logan (Craig Olejnik), a paramedic from Toronto, has kept his habit of getting his nose in criminal investigations when he's not on the job with his partner Oz Bey (Ennis Esmer). Shaftesbury Films, a Canadian production company, has announced that production has begun on the fourth season of the Canadian period/procedural TV series Murdoch Mysteries. The show will premiere in early 2011 on CityTV, a cable network, in Canada and Alibi in Great Britain.
The fourth season will throw some difficult challenges Detective Murdoch’s (Yannick Bisson) way. To start, pathologist Dr. Julia Ogden (Helene Joy), who departed for a new job at the Childrens’ Hospital of Buffalo at the end of season three, may have found a compelling reason to stay in Buffalo. Her replacement, brought in from Scotland Yard - the ill tempered Dr. Francis (Paul Rhys) - will frequently clash with the even-tempered Murdoch. The series is produced by Canada's Shaftesbury Films, in conjunction with CTV, Space, and Fox Intl. Channels. In February 2008, during the 2007-08 writers strike, NBC decided to license the first season of 13 episodes.

NBC’s canceled “The Listener” starred Craig Olejnik as a telepathic paramedic who uses his gift to solve crimes. That’s a nifty little premise, but I never got around to watching it, and apparently neither did anyone else. I never knew when NBC was showing the show, so it just flew by its first season and was summarily canceled when not enough people tuned in. The Peacock network may not have had any faith in the show, but the Canadians think otherwise. Variety reports that “The Listener” has received a 13-episode Season 2 order from Canada’s CTV network and its sister sci-fi/fantasy cable channel Space, while Fox International will handle the show’s international distribution. Ratings for the show in the States were abysmal, but like all genre shows, I’m sure there are fans in the States hoping for a U.S. channel to pick up its second season.

After low ratings, the peacock network has pulled the plug on the series about a telepathic paramedic.
The Listener debuted on June 4th on NBC. Initially produced for Canadian networks, the drama revolves around a young paramedic (Craig Olejnik) who has the ability to hear other people's thoughts. Through his job and abilities, he seeks to help those in need in any way he can.
Others in the cast include Lisa Marcos, Ennis Esmer, Mylene Robic, Arnold Pinnock, Anthony Lemke, Lara Jean Chorostecki, John Fleming, and Colm Feore.
On NBC, the show got off to a rocky start in the ratings. The two-hour premiere brought in 5.32 million viewers and just a 1.4/4 rating/share of the 18-49 demographic. Summer viewing expectations aren't very high but it didn't bode well that the program landed in third place in total viewers and the demo.
Things didn't get any better for the later episodes.

NBC recently debuted one of their new Summer shows, The Listener. With lots of negative reviews, how did the first episodes perform in the ratings? Is the show worth keeping or should the network listen to critics and cancel it?
The Listener is a Canadian drama that revolves around a young paramedic (Craig Olejnik) who has the ability to listen to people's inner thoughts. He tries to help those in need while trying to figure out his own place in the world. Others in the cast include Ennis Esmer, Colm Feore, Lisa Marcos, Mylene Robic, Anthony Lemke, John Fleming, Lara jean Chorostecki, Arnold Pinnock, and Paulino Nunes.
The show has already run in several countries around the world and began airing in the Us on June 4th. NBC aired the first episode at 9pm and it ranked in fourth place for the timeslot, attracting just 5.25 million viewers and a 1.5/4 rating/share in the 18-49 demographic.

See no evil. Speak no evil. Hear all evil.
That is the premise of the new Canadian-produced drama “The Listener” which premiered on CTV last night and premieres on NBC as a summer series with a two-episode introduction tonight.
Craig Olejnik is Toby Logan, a paramedic with a gift. Toby is telepathic; he can read other people’s thoughts. After years of blocking the thoughts of others, he is blasted at the site of a car accident where a young woman’s pleas for help blast through his mental shields.
As he investigates why this happened, Toby is drawn into the cause of the car accident and discovers that the victim’s son has been kidnapped. Deciding to tune in rather than tune out, he helps her recover her son, who was kidnapped after she witnessed a shooting.
Toby has only let one person in on his secret, long-time friend Dr.

"The Listener" features actor Craig Olejnik as Toby Logan, a telepathic Emt with a Dickensian past, and like HBO's Sookie of "True Blood" fame, he is inundated by the ambient thoughts of everyone. A tad distracting when you are trying to focus on saving lives and getting about your day. On a recent phone interview, Olejnik noted the difficulty in keeping his character from being swamped with input, "Like most people dealing with my own thoughts is room enough, there.s barely enough room in my head for my own. So this guy.s got a lot of thoughts, a lot of images, a lot of everything else that doesn.t necessarily need to be there. It.s the mental -...

Chicago – Toby Logan (Craig Olejnik) is a 25-year-old paramedic who can hear other people’s thoughts. The telepath is the lead character on NBC’s frustrating new “The Listener,” a show that the network is clearly burning off this summer and that I don’t need psychic powers to predict won’t be on the schedule for too long.

Two and Half Torches (Out of Five) The broadcast television networks are in a heap of trouble, facing everything from falling ratings to intense competition for advertisers from cable and online networks. As a result, they're desperately looking for ways to cut costs. This month, NBC is trying a particularly creative experiment where they're airing two shows, both fantasy-themed, that originated in other English-speaking countries: The Listener, a Canadian program, and Merlin, which aired last fall in the U.K. as The Adventures of Merlin. First up is The Listener, debuting Thursday, June 4, at 10 Pm. It's the story of Toby (Craig Olejnik), a Toronto paramedic with the ability to read people's minds. The idea definitely has perk-up-your-ears potential.

NBC just announced their Summer lineup of shows. One Sci-Fi that was picked up seems interesting. And with the help of Detective Charlie Marks (Lisa Marcos, “Diary of a Mad Black Woman”) and his E.R. doctor/ex-girlfriend Olivia Fawcett (Mylène Dinh-Robic,...

Toronto -- Colm Feore has joined the cast of "The Listener," the upcoming Canadian paranormal series acquired by NBC, Canada's CTV and Fox International.
Feore will play an older mentor to a young paramedic (Craig Olejnik) who uses his telepathic powers to heal what's broken in the lives of people he treats.
Feore, a veteran Canadian stage and screen actor repped stateside by Endeavor, also is a series regular on Fox's "24," where he plays first husband to the U.S. president.
NBC picked up the Canadian drama from producer Shaftesbury films during the WGA strike.
