- Holds a second degree black belt in Wushu and came in second place at the 1995 world championships.
- His first real speaking part came in X-Men (2000) in the part of Toad. Although his character Darth Maul briefly spoke in Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace (1999), his voice was dubbed over with that of actor Peter Serafinowicz.
- He was en route to a martial arts exhibition when he got the cell phone call from producer Rick McCallum that he gotten the part of Darth Maul. He was so shocked and excited that had to pull over.
- Was a member of the British Wushu Team.
- Was set to play Danny Rand/Iron Fist in an Iron Fist movie between 2000 and 2004 but the project never went through. Iron Fist would eventually become a Netflix series starring Finn Jones in 2017.
- He is trained in Northern Shaolin Kung Fu, Wushu, Hapkido and Kickboxing.
- Has a daughter called Sienna and a son called Rokko.
- 15th-17th April 2005 - Attended the Wellington Armaggeddon Pulp Expo Convention in New Zealand as the special Star Wars guest.
