Dan was good-natured fellow who was an avid and well known autograph collector. Playing bit roles, or working as an extra, gave Dan access to many film and TV sets, where he would not let an opportunity pass-by to acquire a new signature for his collection.
Dan never owned a car, but rather used public transportation (often with close friend Dolores Mills, or other "up and coming collectors", who were looking to learn more about the hobby from him) to travel around Los Angeles. Dan would visit Walk of Fame ceremonies, live theater appearances, famous celebrity hang outs, memorial services, or wherever he had to go to secure the autograph treasure he was looking for. Dan accumulated thousands of autographs during his lifetime, the majority of which he would meticulously record the date and location/event, of where the signature was obtained, on the back of each photo.- IMDb Mini Biography By: WSM - Dan was an avid autograph collector who traveled all over Los Angeles (using public transportation, as he did not drive), to secure autographs from Hollywood small and big screen stars. Never to miss an opportunity, Dan would show up at movie premiers, restaurants, live theater venues, walk of fame ceremonies and even an occasional memorial service to obtain the signature he was looking for. This love of autograph collecting is what drew him into doing "extra" work, which allowed him access to the studios and to the stars he loved. Dan built a collection of thousands of signed photos, on which he would dutifully document the details of his encounters on the back of each item. Dan was known as a friendly and gregarious person, who would often assist younger autograph collectors with their hobby.- IMDb Mini Biography By: WSM
