The (very) subtle shade is out there.
In Tuesday’s Bones finale, Booth — at the tail end of a moving pep talk he was giving to a demoralized Brennan — attempted to cheer his wife up further by assuring her, “We’re way better than Mulder and Scully.” That was no mere throwaway line. The crack bookended a moment in the show’s pilot 12 years ago when Booth gave the iconic X-Files duo a similar — albeit more effusive — shout-out, telling Brennan, “We’re Scully and Mulder.”

Any way you slice it, Bones just gave us a very happy “End in the End.”
After 12 seasons, the Fox drama signed off Tuesday with a wistful, bittersweet and ultimately satisfying hour that found Big Bad Mark Kovac permanently neutralized (aka killed), Brennan’s temporary amnesia reversed and Cam ditching the Jeffersonian to start a new family with Arastoo (but not before promoting Hodgins into her post as lab director). Along the way, the series sort of resolved the enduring “447” mystery, paid tribute to the late Sweets and maybe revealed the gender of Angela’s unborn baby.

Bones Ep Michael Peterson urged fans to “have faith” in the wake of last week’s explosive penultimate episode, which ended with Brennan’s lab being blown to bits while she, Booth, Angela and Hodgins were all trapped inside. Well, TVLine has obtained the first two minutes (well, technically 90 seconds) of Tuesday’s series finale (9/8c on Fox) and we can safely say he wasn’t misleading us.
The clip confirms that three out of the four aforementioned individuals survive the bombing, and we’re going to venture out on a limb and assume the fourth one will also turn...

There’s going out with a bang and then there’s going out with a literal freakin’ bang.
Tuesday’s penultimate Bones — the first part of the series’ two-episode swan song — ended with the lab being blown to smithereens by Booth’s vengeance-seeking nemesis Mark Kovac. Pretty much all of the show’s series regulars were inside the Jeffersonian when the bombs (yes, there were multiple devices) detonated, including Booth, Brennan and parents-to-be (!!) Angela and Hodgins.

Hodgins is paralyzed and angry as a viper, Angela is bruised and disheartened, Cam is stuck between two men, Christine is afraid of things that go bump in the night, Brennan has trouble detaching, and Booth just can't stop being a hero (Can you say 'Secret Service'?). All of this makes for fantastic storytelling opportunities, according to Peterson. Let's dig in.

"Bones" was just renewed and canceled at the same time, with Fox announcing one last season, with a shortened run of 12 episodes.
The procedural drama, starring Emily Deschanel as Dr. Temperance "Bones" Brennan and David Boreanaz as Special Agent Seeley Booth, premiered in September 2005, and TVLine noted that the final tally will be an impressive 246 episodes.
Showrunners Jonathan Collier and Michael Peterson reacted to the announcement in a joint statement: "We couldn't be more thrilled to have another season, so we can give the show, characters and fans the end they so richly deserve. Also knowing there is a Season 12, we can now write the most rewarding Season 11 finale possible — one we hope will leave our fans excited for what's to come in this final season of Bones."

There's good news and bad news for fans of the Bones TV show on Fox. The long-running crime drama has been renewed for a 12th season but that will be the show's final run and there will only be a dozen episodes.
Bones revolves around a married couple who use their skills as an FBI agent (David Boreanaz) and a forensic anthropologist (Emily Deschanel) to solve difficult cases. The show's cast also includes Michaela Conlin, Tamara Taylor, Tj Thyne, and John Boyd.
Both Boreanaz and Deschanel are set to return for the final season -- as are executive producers and showrunners Jonathan Collier and Michael Peterson.

Fox is throwing Bones fans a pretty big you-know what.*
The network has renewed the long-running procedural for a 12th and final season, a move that will allow producers to map out a “meaningful and satisfying conclusion,” per Fox Co-Chairmen Dana Walden and Gary Newman.
TVLine has learned that the final season will consist of 12 episodes, which will bring the show’s final episode tally to a whopping 246.

Fox’s Bones will be getting a final chapter. The network has renewed the long-running comedic procedural for a 12-episode farewell 12th season. Stars David Boreanaz and Emily Deschanel have closed deals to return as the series’ leading duo of Booth and Brennan. Also set to come back as showrunners are Jonathan Collier and Michael Peterson, who took the reins of the show this season. This week Fox will talk with Bones TV series producers, to decide whether or not to renew the crime dramedy for a 12th season. During the Fox TCA party, showrunners Jonathan Collier and Michael Peterson told TVInsider, they are having a great time and want to make season 12 of Bones.
While Bones stars Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz have filed a lawsuit over profits, which could be moved to arbitration, Collier reports they have both enjoyed this season. He and Peterson also talked about the planned two-part Bones season 11 finale, which could possibly be the Bones TV series finale.

Bones made some lofty promises before launching season 11 this past October. After reviewing "The Cowboy in the Contest" and the winter finale, "The Doom in the Boom," I can attest that Bones star Emily Deschanel and Executive Producer Michael Peterson were not just whistling Dixie when they coyly alluded to the provocative content in store for their millions of fans as we head into the winter bleak, er, I mean 'break' for who-knows-how-long. Fox is reserving the right to frustrate fans until they know for sure which of their primetime science experiments will bomb before committing Bones into a spring date and time slot ... in case you hadn't heard (Insert beady-eyed accusatory cough here). But this send off is brilliant, if not somber.
Let's briefly revisit Deschanel and Peterson's highfalutin promises as I parcel out my customary cryptic teases about both episodes airing back-to-back on December 10. "Cowboy in the Competition...

Thanksgiving is a time for family, so we can’t help wondering if the secret plan Brennan is cooking up in TVLine’s exclusive video from Thursday’s Bones (Fox, 8/7c) involves a reunion between Booth and his son, Parker.
RelatedFox’s Midseason Schedule: New Girl Returns, Brooklyn Nine-Nine on the Move, Bones, Last Man Mia and More
After all, executive producer Michael Peterson did tell TVLine that the holiday installment would feature “returning family members.”
One thing Brennan isn’t cooking up, though: a turkey, which does not sit well with Booth, the lone bird eater in the house.

Fox has released its schedule for the new year, and Bones is not on it. If and when the second half of Bones season 11 will air is to be determined. While this doesn't mean the long-running procedural has been cancelled, it hardly seems like a good sign. Despite flagging season 10 ratings, Fox renewed the series for an 11th season.
As of November 5, 2015, the eleventh season finds Bones, over all, down in the ratings. To date, it is averaging a 1.23 in the 18-49 demographic, with a season-to-date average of 5.34 total audience members.
While star David Boreanaz is looking forward to the end of the show with season 11, new showrunner, Michael Peterson, is on record as saying he wants a 12th season and more. The cast of Bones includes: Boreanaz, Emily Deschanel, Michaela Conlin, Tamara Taylor,...

Bones is currently airing season 11 on Fox, but fans might be in for "many more" seasons if the new showrunner has his way. Michael Peterson joined the series starring Emily Deschanel and David Boreanz in its fourth season, and now he is the man in charge.
Peterson spoke with Assignment X about the recent crossover episode between Bones and Sleepy Hollow, and he was asked about the series possibly ending this season. He gave an honest answer to that question.
"I want to do it forever. I’ve loved doing it for seven years, I think there’s a lot more story left to tell, and my plan always is to keep going. Eventually, the studio and the network will tell me when I have to stop, but I don’t ever want to stop."

The Bones fairies have been taunting fans with the concept of a crossover between Bones and Sleepy Hollow since well before BuddyTV talked with Emily Deschanel and Executive Producer Michael Peterson about what we can look forward to in season 11. Boneheads have been scratching their heads in fear of this tightrope act going sideways. If that happens, we wonder, how will we ever trust them again?
How, indeed? It is too much to ask for these two universes -- one focused on evidence-based crime solving, the other centered around the unlikely pairing of a modern day police lieutenant and a resurrected 250-year-old Washington emissary who together fight supernatural demons -- to solve both a Bonesian homicide and save the city from zombies? Well, it is a mighty tall order, my friends. Who else but Bones (and Sleepy Hollow) could pull it off?...

'Tis the season to be asking about 2015 holiday episodes. That's apparently a big topic for fans, since TVLine just answered some questions about upcoming events on ABC's "Castle" and Fox's "Bones."
Since "Bones" has the better news, let's let them go first. When TVLine was asked if "Bones" would have a Christmas episode, this was the response:
...Dunno about a Christmas episode. What I donno is, for the first time in the show's 11-year history, we will be getting a Thanksgiving episode. "We, shockingly, have never done a Thanksgiving episode," co-showrunner Michael Peterson marvels to TVLine. "That's the one we're prepping right now. There will be surprise guest stars. There'll be returning family members."
Sounds great! Here's the less good news for "Castle." A fan asked if there would be a holiday episode and TVLine mentioned the show's schedule change -- adding a long winter break -- that puts the...

Ausiello: I’m hearing that a late fall episode — most likely the Nov. 9 installment — will be very Beckett-lite. As in she will, at best, maybe-possibly be in one scene. ABC declined to comment, but my guess is Stana Katic had an “out” in her contract so she could be here.
