TORONTO -- Finding new models for monetizing content will be the top priority of the inaugural Como Forum in October, organizers said Tuesday.
Organized by the Toronto-based Cameron Thomson Group, the Oct. 24-26 industry conclave in Lake Como, Italy, will include 20th Century Fox Films chairman Jim Gianopoulos, MobiTV chief scientist Kay Johansson and MGM Television Worldwide co-president Gary Marenzi.
Also on tap for the invitation-only huddle are ITN CEO Mark Wood, Sundance Film Festival director of creative development John Cooper, filmmaker Terry Gilliam, WMA vp John Mas and OgilvyOne Worldwide vice chairman Rory Sutherland, according to the Cameron Thompson Group.
Ron Thomson, president of Cameron Thomson, a convergence business development group with offices in London and Milan, said the No. 1 topic at the Como Forum will be how to restructure an entertainment industry now evolving beyond recognition in the Internet age.
Other A-list players set for the confab are Mark Goldman, COO of Al Gore's Current TV; Tom Glocer, CEO of Thomson/Reuters; Andrea Pezzi, founder of Italian Web documaker OVO; Patrick Bradley, director of Ingenious Media Investments; and Stefano Di Bella, managing director of De Agostini Editore S.p.A.
