- Son of legendary record producer Sam Phillips, the founder of the SUN label.

- Engineered parts of Willie Nelson's Shotgun Willie and Jerry Jeff Walker's Mr. Bojangles.
- Worked on the Amazing Rhythm Aces' "Third Rate Romance.".
- Was a record producer, engineer and studio owner for more than 50 years working with Jerry Lee Lewis (6 albums), Willie Nelson, John Prinem Jerry Jeff Walker, the Amazing Rhythm Aces.
