Two New Jersey Catholic school students were expelled after their family sued the school for not allowing their 13-year-old daughter play on the boys’ basketball team.
Scott Phillips found out in October that his daughters’ school, St. Teresa’s in Kenilworth, New Jersey, was shutting down the girls’ basketball team.
“When we heard that there was no varsity team, which covers 7th and 8th grade, my wife simply said, ‘Let’s just let her play with the 7th and 8th grade boys. Let’s move her over,’ ” Phillips tells People.
But when he approached the school’s athletic director, the idea was met with resistance.

Julie Bowen had serious doubts she would be cast on Modern Family.
"I was pregnant with twins, and I kept thinking they weren't going to hire me," says in the current issue of People. "They kept bringing me in over and over and sort of staring at my humungous belly, and I thought, 'I'm never getting this job.' "

It’s no secret that any regular reader of WhatCulture.com’s music section has come across an Alter Bridge article or two, as thanks in no small part to the phenomenally sky-high vocal talents of one Myles Kennedy and the thundering powerhouse of a guitarist that is Mark Tremonti – along with an incredibly tight rhythm section in Brian Marshall and Scott Phillips – the band have gone from strength to strength over the last few years.
Speaking of Tremonti though, the man is absolute machine on and off stage, creating a style that’s all his own by cherry-picking hugely enjoyable techniques from the likes of Kirk Hammett, Dimebag Darrell, Paul Gilbert and more, along with his own take on the instrument to really become one of the best guitarists currently working today.

After welcoming son Oliver, now 4, with husband Scott Phillips, Julie Bowen always knew she wanted more kids. However, she wasn’t expecting — or prepared for — a double dose of babies!
“I did not want twins as a second go-around. I should have been much more cautious. I should have had … half sex?” the Modern Family star, 42, jokes in the September issue of More.
When the news broke that the actress was pregnant with twin boys, speculation grew that Bowen had turned to in vitro fertilization to expand her family. That assumption, she explains, couldn’t be further from the truth.

She may have faced a few roadblocks when it came time to get her license, but Julie Bowen‘s path to parenthood was speedbump-free.
“It was harder to get my driver’s license than to get pregnant and give birth,” the Modern Family actress, 41, tells Parade.
And while amateur drivers are armed with a manual, Bowen — mom to Oliver McLanahan, 3½, and twins John and Gus, 17 months, with husband Scott Phillips — says new parents aren’t quite as lucky.
“Then you go home with them and you’re like, ‘Are you kidding?! I don’t know what I’m doing,...

Scott Phillips is a man who has his hands in many hats. He directs, writes, produces and even edits films and then on top of that he occassionally finds the time to put out a book. He also has worked in the sound department, make-up, and even acts occassionally. Is there anything this man hasn't done?!? Scott Phillips mergered erotica and horror with The Stink of Flesh for Tempe Entertainment. He then followed that with Gimme Skelter, a film produced for under $5000! He also wrote Horrorvision and Cryptz for Full Moon Pictures. With this interview, we took a look back at his career and the many hats has worn. Here is what he had to say.
Who is Scott Phillips and what are you all about?
Well, I'm not the Scott Phillips who wrote The Ice Harvest, or the Scott Phillips who made Meadowoods (that guy needs a middle initial...

After a long hiatus, Creed reunited in 2009 for a world tour and a new album, the appropriately named “Full Circle.” Fans welcomed the return of the hit makers, who have sold 35 million albums, back with arms wide open (pun intended). The new album debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and single, “Overcome,” was a hit at rock radio. Now, Creed -- composed of vocalist Scott Stapp, guitarist Mark Tremonti, drummer Scott Phillips and bassist Brian Marshall -- is embarking on its “20-10 Tour.” Acknowledging the troubled touring season and in an effort to give fans a great...

For Julie Bowen, raising three sons is “the best adventure” — even if she’s the sole woman at home!
“It’s all boys at my house,” the Modern Family star told Moms & Babies at the 69th Annual Peabody Awards in New York on Monday.
“It’s a lot of trucks, cars and balls. There’s no princesses or lipstick or shiny shoes. But it’s okay, I love them anyhow.”
In fact, her sons — Oliver, 3, and fraternal twins Gus and John, who just turned 1 — are so active that the twins’ first words were sports-related.

The producers of Modern Family are having their fair share of fun at star Julie Bowen’s expense, the actress joked to Celebrity Baby Blog exclusively.
In one recent scene, Julie appeared in her bra and underwear and in an upcoming episode there will even be an “incident in a public place with nudity,” she reported, musing:
“I don’t know. I think they just think it’s funny that I had twins and — maybe they’re saying — ‘She fought to lose the weight, now we’re just going to get her naked as much [as possible].’ I have no idea.

You won’t hear Julie Bowen complaining about the struggle to balance work and family! In a highly tongue-in-cheek interview with Us Weekly, the actress singled out “an excuse to get out of the house” as a “mommy must-have.”
Tops on that list? Her job on the smash hit Modern Family.
“My doctor told me, ‘Only give 70 percent. You’ll hate them if you give 100 percent of yourself.’ I took that advice to heart. I run to my job. I love my job.”
Julie, 40, says she’s also often on the hunt for “piles of cloth to wipe...

Brotherly love is — for the moment — unheard of in Julie Bowen’s household.
With the actress having welcomed fraternal twins John and Gus in May, first-born Oliver McLanahan, 2 ½, is having a tough time adjusting to big brotherhood.
“He hates them, but you know what, tough, he’ll get past it,” Julie tells Celebrity Baby Blog at the March of Dimes 4th Annual Celebration of Babies luncheon.
“He’s a boy. Boys don’t like babies. He’s the oldest. He definitely fights for my attention.”
Fortunately, Oliver has much to keep him busy — the toddler has started preschool!

Playing a frenzied mom onscreen isn’t much of a stretch for Julie Bowen. A real life mom-of-three (under three!), Julie conducts interviews from her car via cell phone because “this is pretty much the only time I can call,” she tells Bnd.com.
Her return to the small screen in ABC’s new show Modern Family suits the 39-year-old actress just fine, for she’s an admitted fan of television programming in general, listing Lost (in which she has occasionally costarred), So You Think You Can Dance and Hung among her faves.

When Julie Bowen delivered twins John and Gus earlier this year she had much to be grateful for — not the least of which was her attire! During a recent visit to The Bonnie Hunt Show, the 39-year-old Modern Family actress revealed just how far she took Method acting while filming a fictional labor and delivery on her former show Boston Legal.
Heavily pregnant with her first son Oliver McLanahan, 2 ½, Julie’s water broke on set. “I was pretending to give birth and I said, ‘I think I have a situation of water breaking,’” she recalls. “They...

After expanding her family with husband Scott Phillips by three — sons Oliver McLanahan, 2 ½, and twins John and Gus, 5 months — in a matter of two years, Julie Bowen told the ladies of The View that she’s skilled when it comes to baby business.

While her many talents extend to filming her new series Modern Family while 8 ½ months pregnant with twins — “I’m behind everything, I’m behind people, cakes,” she explains – one of Julie’s greatest feats since welcoming her sons may be her dedication to breastfeeding the boys. “It is tricky,...
