The CW Network, in partnership with CBC, today announced it has renewed the hit series Wild Cards for an expanded 13-episode second season. The second season will debut on The CW in the U.S. and CBC in Canada in 2025.
The procedural, starring Vanessa Morgan (Riverdale) and Giacomo Gianniotti (Grey’s Anatomy), is the network’s #1 new series in 2024 in total audience viewing, according to Nielsen.
“We are thrilled to order a second season of The CW’s breakout series Wild Cards,” said Liz Wise Lyall, Head of Scripted Programming, The CW Network. “Wild Cards has clearly captured the imagination of our viewers thanks to exhilarating storytelling and the crackling chemistry between Vanessa and Giacomo.
“We are confident Wild Cards is the kind of smart and sexy blue-sky drama that could continually build its audience for years.”

Canadian procedural Wild Cards is coming back for a second season on The CW.
The renewal news came this morning as originating broadcaster CBC renewed the show and unveiled it at its Upfronts.
It marks a bit of good news for The CW, which canceled Walker earlier this week, while Canadian drama The Spencer Sisters, which it also aired, was canceled at CTV.
The show, stars Grey’s Anatomy’s Giacomo Gianniotti, Riverdale’s Vanessa Morgan and Jason Priestley, has been one of The CW’s stronger performers over the last year.
Earlier this month, The CW’s President of Entertainment Brad Schwartz told Deadline that he was keen to bring back the show for more episodes.

Canadian procedural Wild Cards has been one of The CW’s stronger performers over the last twelve months.
It was somewhat surprising, then, that the show which stars Grey’s Anatomy’s Giacomo Gianniotti, Riverdale’s Vanessa Morgan and Jason Priestley, hasn’t been quickly snapped up for a second season.
The CW’s President of Entertainment Brad Schwartz told Deadline in February that the network was in conversations with Blink49 Studios about more episodes coming to the network.
Those talks are still ongoing, but the suggestion is very much that it will continue on The CW.
“You’ll probably be hearing more announcements from us very soon,” he told Deadline this morning. “That show did great. It grew 10% versus what The Flash did in the same spot the year before. So, here we are beating shows that everyone’s very romantic about. We’d very much like to renew that one.

Wild Cards, a Canadian police procedural, has become a surprise hit for The CW.
The series, which stars Grey’s Anatomy’s Giacomo Gianniotti, Riverdale’s Vanessa Morgan and Jason Priestley, launched in January.
It has been averaging over 500,000 in the live overnights, per Nielsen, which The CW President of Entertainment Brad Schwartz says will likely go to around 1M over the first seven days.
This is what constitutes a hit for the network. “That’s a nice success for us. If we can do seven nights a week with a million viewers, that would be goal number one, then two million,” he told Deadline.

Schwartz added that he has already begun discussing a second season of the show, which comes from Blink49 Studios.
“We have not renewed it yet but that is a conversation that’s happening right now.

The judge overseeing Danny Masterson’s criminal case handed the actor the maximum allowable sentence, resisting calls from nearly 50 of his family, friends and colleagues to allow him to serve his prison term concurrently rather than consecutively.
Ashton Kutcher, Mila Kunis, Kurtwood Smith, Debra Jo Rupp and David Trainer — all of whom worked alongside Masterson in That ’70s Show — wrote to the court as character references urging Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Charlaine F. Olmedo to offer Masterson leniency in letters dated between July and August, after he was convicted in May. They mostly touted his commitment to discouraging the use of drugs.
Masterson on Thursday was sentenced to 30 years to life in prison. Though she had the choice to restrict his sentence to 15 years to life, Olmedo declined to do so.
Masterson will be eligible for parole in roughly 25 years, when he’s 72 years old.

In 2016, Freeform announced at its upfront in New York plans to bring back the original alumni of the Cyprus-Rhodes University for Greek: The Reunion movie, set five years after the show ended, which was expected to air during the holiday frame.
The cast and executive producers reunited at the Atx Television Festival, and of course were asked Friday whether the reunion was still happening.
While there is still no word on when or if the special would take place, creator and executive producer Patrick Sean Smith told festival goers that “there was a script that was written for the reunion. I hope we get to do a reunion at some point with somebody who wants to do it.”
Without going far into detail about what the hold is, Smith shared a storyline he planned to explore in the update.

Haven has always been one of those shows that seems to pull people into its own rewatchability. There’s something about the bizarre nature of the troubles, and the long-arc connections, that opens the door for going through it all more than once.
That is arguably never more true than the series’ final season, and here’s your chance to win a copy of the Blu-Ray. (3 winners will be randomly selected to receive a copy of the Blu-Ray)
It all comes together as the series wraps, but making it through to the end is anything but simple, and I think the show delivered something that fans could hold onto as an ending worthy of the time they’d spent with the quirky crew of the show.
But, more than just taking the ride again, or for the first time, the release is loaded with extras.

Kappa Tau wow: Freeform is rushing a Greek revival!

Greek premiered in 2007 and ran for four seasons and 74 episodes, before concluding in 2011. The cast included then-unknowns Spencer Grammer, Scott Michael Foster, Jake McDorman and Amber Stevens.

Haven managed something fairly rare in the world of television simply by being a show that was, more or less, serious about about completely goofball events without turning ridiculous.
It probably helped that it got to say Stephen King’s name a lot, but no outside pull gets you very far when you have to put “The Troubles” on screen, and sell a world in which a small town in Maine goes loopy. That’s especially true when you have episodic “troubles” to fix, and have to maintain the long arc’s direction.
The show held its own by way of the onscreen chemistry of the three main stars, and the charm of the supporting actors.
Now the final season is headed your way, and it’s not only something that is worth the price of admission just on the twists and revelations of the season itself, it’s also loaded with special features.

"Haven" hasn't seen the Colorado Kid, aka James Cogan, since he disappeared with the barn in the Season 3 finale. But the young man is far from forgotten on the show and many have wondered if he might return.
Guess what? Steve Lund, the actor who played James on "Haven," wonders the same thing. When Zap2it talked to Lund about his new show, "Bitten," recently, he dropped a few hints about whether or not the Colorado Kid might ever return.
Alas, the answer is a solid maybe. It is not, however, for lack of interest or trying on Lund's part. "I've been trying with all of my might to get back on 'Haven.' I know there are some people that want to see the Colorado Kid back on the show," Lund explains in the interview. "[Executive producer] Shawn Piller came a couple of times to visit our set when he was in Toronto.

You’ve got to love a show that gets stronger over time… or at least gets higher ratings, and since that’s exactly the case with Syfy‘s Haven, fans can relax for quite a while. The network has ordered 26 new episodes, and they will air as a split fifth season. 13 will air in the fall, and the remaining 13 will air sometime in 2015.
According to the announcement, it isn’t just ratings that are high on the network’s radar. Up on the social media chatter front, the show is clearly proving itself as one with loyal, and vocal, fans, and the network is paying attention to that.

Wow, dreams really Can come true! Not only has Syfy renewed our beloved Haven for another season, but it has put in a double order – yes, Twenty-six episodes of Haven coming our way! Am I concerned that this is supposed to be a “congratu-dolences” because it might be a final two seasons? Of course I am. Do I think that’s what it is? No I Do Not. Will I let any such concerns dampen my celebrations? No Way.

"Bitten" is one of Syfy's newest series, following the lives of modern-day werewolves. While speaking with Zap2it, Steve Lund talks about playing the fun-loving werewolf Nick Sorrentino and about reuniting with his former "Haven" co-star, Laura Vandervoort ("Smallville," "V") on the show.
Zap2it: How would you describe Nick?
Steve Lund: He's the best! He's the man! [laughs] Nick's a very fun character. He's a fun-loving guy who I'd describe as enjoying the fruits of nature. He's maybe not taken as seriously as some of the other werewolves, but he's Ok with that.
He knows his role within the pack. My grandfather was the former Pack Alpha before Jeremy, and my father is the sort of book-handler or logistics-coordinator, if you will, for the pack. So there's a long line of werewolves from which I am a descendant. I've lived a pretty privileged life. And I've been blessed by...

For a show entering its 4th season, the addition of new cast members immediately makes one think: will they be a villain or a love-interest? Yet in talking with Haven’s special guest-star Colin Ferguson, there may be yet another role that his character occupies in Season 4: the mystery. Ask anyone associated with the show who Colin’s character is and you’ll hear a lot of different descriptions. Even after having watched the filming of one episode, I could not put my finger on who his character is. So in everyone’s mind, Colin’s character William is the big mystery of Season 4.
During our interview, Colin was practically bouncing off walls with excitement for the fans to meet William. It is a role that he clearly relishes and he is unbelievably pleased to be invited to be a part of the Haven family this season. Even he...

Any avid television fan knows that the holder of a TV show’s secrets are the producers and writers. So it was quite a coup to get a few minutes to speak with executive producer Shawn Piller about what adventures and mysteries Haven Season 4 offers. True to form, there were a lot of hints, but not really any spoilers as Shawn truly believes that fans love to be surprised.
When asked about what the big mystery of Season 4 may be, Shawn explained that prior season mysteries focused on the search for identity and self-discovery. In fact, Haven’s heroine Audrey Parker (Emily Rose) is a constant state of discovering who she used to be. She has lived many lives before and this season, the show will explore how those past lives will start to inform Audrey as to who she is in the present. It is the age-old question of:...

There are many mysteries going into "Haven" Season 4. Thus, we're going to take away one of them: In an early scene from the episode, there is an embedded Easter egg referencing the gone-but-beloved show, "Greek."
What's the Easter egg? Check out the photo below to find out.
The reference happens silently -- on a t-shirt -- in one of the bar scenes during the first part of the premiere. A frat guy comes up to the bar and orders a drink from Audrey Lexie (Emily Rose). She even makes a quick fraternity-oriented joke to highlight everything.
For those who don't know "Greek" (a situation you should remedy, by the way), one of the central fraternities on the show was the Kappa Tau Gamma house. Not the most popular group on campus, these guys were often the most interesting. Why the Easter egg? As it turns out, "Haven" executive producer and...

For those who don't know "Greek" (a situation you should remedy, by the way), one of the central fraternities on the show was the Kappa Tau Gamma house. Not the most popular group on campus, these guys were often the most interesting. Why the Easter egg? As it turns out, "Haven" executive producer and...

Haven Season 4 is coming to wrap itself around us in all its creepy mysterious gorgeous Nova Scotia-posing-as-New England goodness, and I am So Ready. They’ve even made it easy to remember the premiere date: Friday the 13th of next month.
I’m thrilled that Colin Ferguson (Eureka) is joining as a recurring guest star, and now we have news of two others. I hope they all fare better than last year’s recurring guest star. You know, the psychologist? Yowie.
With so many shows, new characters can be disruptive, but the casting in this series has always been impeccable, and seamless with the writing and the collective excellence of the show. And no matter how hard they try, and sometimes they do try, guest stars seem to never be able to permanently break up my favorite love/buddy triangle of Audrey, Nathan, and Duke.
But wait til you see who Christian Camargo (Dexter) plays…...

It was a monumental year for Haven as it made its first panel appearance at San Diego Comic-Con. Haven not only hosted a fan party in honor of the occasion, they held their 1st panel at Sdcc, then rushed over for a 2nd panel at The Nerd Machine’s Nerd HQ — and managed to squish in time for fan scavenger hunt along the way. Everywhere you turned for the first couple of days at Sdcc there was a Haven event to be had. Fans of the show and newcomers were delighted with the large presence at San Diego Comic-Con and made sure that each appearance was a sold-out, jam-packed, and bursting at the seams event.
The Thursday July 18th party was held for the second year at the Sidebar, nestled in the center of the Gaslamp District in San Diego. It featured cast members from Entertainment One’s Syfy hit Haven and other celebrities,...

Excellent, some Haven news! Production has begun for Season 4 of this absolutely terrific show, up in gorgeous Halifax. Everyone I’ve talked with who’s involved in the show’s production talks about the big part the location plays in the series, and I agree. We also have news that the star of another Syfy show that featured an “interesting” town will be joining the Haven community:
Yes Colin Ferguson, Eureka‘s Sheriff Jack Carter, will be showing up in our favorite creepy town. Here are the details, along with a head’s up about where we’ll be when the show returns:

Press Release: Startling new mysteries and secrets are in the works as Syfy’s hit series Haven goes into production today, May 8, on an all-new 13 episode Season 4 in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
When Haven premieres this October, Colin Ferguson (Eureka) returns to Syfy playing William, a handsome mysterious stranger, whose secret agenda leads him to Audrey (Emily Rose).
Season 4 of Haven picks up six months after the devastating events of the Season 3 cliffhanger in which the town was pummeled by a violent meteor storm. Audrey and Duke (Eric Balfour) vanished into thin air leaving an injured Nathan (Lucas Bryant) marooned in Haven.
During its third season, Haven averaged 2.3 million total viewers, 1.1 million Adults 25-54 and 901,000 Adults 18-49. It was the #1 cable drama during its Friday night at 10 Pm timeslot (based on Live + 7 data) in Adults 18-49, Adults 25-54 and total viewers.

If you were a “Buffy” fan and you always wished Dawn and Oz would somehow get together on the show, then you’re getting your belated wish in this first clip from Shawn Piller’s “Sexy Evil Genius”. (Note: This is assuming Michelle Trachtenberg and Seth Green’s characters from the show never got together on “Buffy”. I don’t know if they did or not, I’ve only ever seen a handful of episodes.) Any whatever. Check out the first clip from “Sexy Evil Genius”. If you missed the film’s trailer, you can catch up here. A group of people are lured to the same bar in downtown Los Angeles by Nikki, an ex-girlfriend they all have in common. Beautiful, conniving and downright insane, Nikki has one last surprise in store for her ex-lovers…. Also starring Katee Sackhoff, Harold Perrineau, William Baldwin and Anthony Michael Hall. “Sexy Evil Genius...

Funny, but when I was writing about Shawn Piller’s “Sexy Evil Genius” way back in 2011, I was under the impression that it was a comedy. Possibly with some slasher tropes tossed in, but definitely a comedy. Then Lionsgate went and released this first trailer for “Sexy Evil Genius” and, uh, it doesn’t look like a comedy to me. As in, at all. I didn’t chuckle once. Go figure. Anyways, check out the trailer for “Sexy Evil Genius”, along with DVD cover art and some stills from the movie below. Production apparently wrapped in 2011, but we’re just now getting the film. Better late than never, as the saying goes. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned and one woman will get her revenge this April… A group of people are lured to the same bar in downtown Los Angeles by Nikki, an ex-girlfriend they all have in common.
