The up front is entirely dedicated to further talking up the upcoming Don McGregor James Bond magazine. To clarify my understanding from the last issue it is a one-shot magazine and not a comic. I did have a look for it on eBay and on comicvine.com which has a huge database of comics and magazines, but I couldn’t find a trace of it anywhere so did it actually release? I will dig further or if anyone knows hit me up. Like I have said before it has been mentioned in every issue of Ci and even now in #6 Dak is pleading with people to be...

Last year, Stephanie Thorpe and Paula Rhodes released a fan trailer for a screen adaption of ElfQuest, the long-running fantasy comic book by Wendy and Richard Pini. The trailer was extremely well received, receiving loads of press and a panel at Comic-Con. Now, the creative pair appears ready to turn their trailer into a feature-length reality. Thorpe and Rhodes have acquired the production rights to ElfQuest, which will allow the duo to create an official adaptation of ElfQuest for film or TV distribution. The rights to the franchise were previously held by Warner Brothers, but the major studio balked at the chance to turn the cult hit into a feature film. When their hold on the rights expired, Thorpe and Rhodes were quick to snatch them up, with the Pinis right behind them in full support. “Paula Rhodes and Stephanie Thorpe more than proved themselves to us with their award-winning ElfQuest : A Fan Imagining,...

Elfquest has had a long and tortuous road to the big screen, but things may finally be looking up. Warner Bros. rights lapsed earlier this year, but now Stephanie Thorpe and Paula Rhodes have acquired the rights to the 35 year old comic book series. Thorpe and Rhodes made the announcement at Afm, and have crashed onto the scene with their short live action production ElfQuest: A Fan Imagining, which can be found on Youtube or below.
The series, by Wendy and Richard Pini, follows a tribe of elves on the World of Two Moons, who are driven from their forests by humans and stumble upon…more elves.
Wendy Pini had the following to say about Thorpe and Rhodes’: “With their deep love and understanding of the property, they represent a new direction for ‘ElfQuest,’…New creative energy and new connections in the larger media.”

The next comic book movie adaptation could tell the story of "ElfQuest."
Warner Bros. had been working on an adaptation of the Wendy and Richard Pini comic book that launched in 1978 for a while now, but that fell through earlier this year. Now a new take on the property is picking up steam, as Variety is reporting that producers Stephanie Thorpe and Paula Rhodes have acquired the rights to the 35-year-old series.
Thorpe and Rhodes are no strangers to the property. The duo produced a live-action short called "ElfQuest: A Fan Imagining" that went on to get close to 135,000 YouTube views. Though that's not a guaranteed sign of interest for a big screen adaptation, it's clear that these two know and care plenty about this property.
"With their deep love and understanding of the property, they represent a new direction for 'ElfQuest,'" Pini told Variety about Thorpe and Rhodes coming on board.

Producers Stephanie Thorpe and Paula Rhodes have scored the film rights to Wendy and Richard Pini's late 70's comic book series "ElfQuest" for a planned feature film adaptation.
The comic follows a tribe of elves on the distant World of Two Moons who find themselves driven from their forest by humans and then discover something they didn't know existed: other elves.
Warner Bros. had been developing an "Elfquest" movie in recent years but the rights lapsed earlier this year. Thorpe and Rhodes have previously produced a short live-action production based on the property.

After Warner Bros. decided to put the kibosh on the “ElfQuest” movie they’ve been developing for years, it seemed like “ElfQuest” fans would never get to see their elves, well, questing on the big screen. After all, it’s hard to make a movie like “ElfQuest” without the full backing of a major Hollywood studio. Or at least, it would be hard to make a decent looking movie, anyway. But someone’s going to give it a shot anyways, it appears. Those two “someones” are Stephanie Thorpe and Paula Rhodes, who recently announced at the American Film Market that they have successfully acquired movie rights to the comic book property from its creators, Wendy and Richard Pini. According to Wendy Pini, it was a no-brainer: With their deep love and understanding of the property, they represent a new direction for ‘ElfQuest.’ New creative energy and new connections in the larger media.

The – there’s really no other way to describe it – quest to bring Wendy and Richard Pini’s ElfQuest series of comics to cinematic life has not been an easy one. Long has it lingered in the deadly marshes of development, tempted by one filmmaker or studio or another, but never quite finding the path to the screen. When last we saw it, the characters were in the hands of Dodgeball’s Rawson Thurber and Warner Bros., but now Stephanie Thorpe and Paula Rhodes think they might be able to get ElfQuest to cinemas.Thorpe and Rhodes got a leg up on the competition by producing ElfQuest: A Fan Imagining as a short presentation, and are touting the deal at the American Film Market looking for support. They already have the blessing of the Pinis, who tell Variety that they “represent a new direction for ElfQuest.”What direction that might be still isn’t clear,...

For years now, a feature film adaptation of the hot fantasy property ElfQuest has been floating around in limbo. Now, Variety reports that producers Stephanie Thorpe (Shelf Life) and Paula Rhodes (A Good Knight’s Quest) have secured the film rights to the cult fantasy comic book.
Created in 1978 by Wendy and Richard Pini, ElfQuest tells the story of Cutter, his tribe the Wolfriders, and their quest to find and unite the elves of the land against the threat of humans, trolls, and other creatures. The series has had a long comic book publication history, once upon a time with Marvel Comics, and more recently with DC Comics.
ElfQuest co-creator Wendy Pini commented on the acquisition:

For those of you who wondered why the blog has been dark, my father passed away suddenly. I've been spending time out west with my mom. This is one of my favorite photos of my parents, which I found on an old ektrachrome slide. They were married in December 1960 and this picture, taken sometime that decade, predates my existence altogether! I think it's maybe even before they had any kids (I'm the youngest of four) but perhaps my sister was around.
My dad and I were never "close" per se though he was surprisingly supportive of most of my artistic endeavors paying for art classes and congratulating me on writing successes. We disagreed on virtually everything but particularly politics and movies.
He was not, in fact, a fan of the cinema and often grumbled about my nonstop chatter about the artform. Once when I was a teenager he was so...

What is Elfquest? It is a fantasy story about a community of elves and other fictional species who struggle to survive and coexist on a primitive Earth-like planet with two moons. Several published volumes of prose fiction also share the same setting. Over the years Elfquest has been self-published by creators Wendy and Richard Pini, then Marvel Comics, then the Pinis again through their own company Warp Graphics and more recently DC Comics. - Wikipedia In late January it was reported that Warner Bros. had decided to pass on making an Elfquest film. I barely remember writing about a possible “ElfQuest” movie gestating within the hills of Hollywoodland. Turns out, there’s a reason for that. It was way back in 2008 (you know, the dark, dark days of the Interwebs) that Warner Bros. originally announced they were working on an “ElfQuest” movie. Apparently the film has been in development since … but not anymore. The “ElfQuest” movie is dead. D-e-d. Dead. And you can thank Peter Jackson and his hobbits for it. Or, to be more precise, his upcoming two “Hobbit” movies, the first of which is due out this Christmas. The word of the movie’s cancellation comes courtesy of Wendy Pini, one of the creators of the comic book series (along with her husband Richard Pini) on Facebook (via Bleeding Cool): After close to four years of suspense – and longer than four years of your much-appreciated interest and support – the word...

Warner Bros. first announced plans for an Elfquest movie in 2008, and nothing has happened since then. The film was to be based on Wendy and Richard Pini's comics, which have been published since the '70s. We finally have some word on that thanks to Blastr, who say that Peter Jackson's The Hobbit is to blame.
The studio reportedly feels that "three films with elves is one too many, and so they pulled the plug on Elfquest." Apparently, you can only have so many elves on the big screen at once.
Warner Bros has decided not to proceed with plans to make the ElfQuest comic into a movie because it would clash with the studio's upcoming two-part adaptation of The Hobbit.
It may seem a bizarre explanation when you consider Hollywood is increasingly driven by copycat trends such as vampire romance, fairy tales, ancient mythology and superheroes.
The ElfQuest official Facebook page disclosed the news in a message that read as follows: "After close to four years of suspense - and longer than four years of your much-appreciated interest and support - the word has come down from Warner Bros. And the word is 'no.'

They also have also announced that they will be bringing their Elfquest project to Comic-Con this year. The original teaser trailer for the film blew up online, and it will be interesting to see how this project turns out. The fan-film has got some solid production value, and the actual film could end up being pretty cool.

Los Angeles – Elves are descending on San Diego at Comic-Con International 2011 for the panel ElfQuest: From the Woods to the Web on Friday, July 22nd at 8pm.
New media producers/actors Stephanie Thorpe (Gold: Night of the Zombie King) and Paula Rhodes (A Good Knight’s Quest) are responsible for the current phenomenon of fan resurgence in the mystical comic book series ElfQuest, created by Wendy and Richard Pini in 1978.
Thorpe and Rhodes collaborated to create the fan-made, non-profit trailer ElfQuest: A Fan Imagining which has been earning high praise from the media and enormous fan support since launching in April at the Screen Actors Guild New Media premiere. An ElfQuest fan film trailer hit Wondercon this year and created a ton of buzz. The actually very epic, very well made film/trailer is produced by Stephanie Thorp and Paula Rhodes, and was created as a rallying point for fans. Warner Bros. is currently in possession of the film rights to the 33 year old comic book property, and have been hot and cold about whether or not they will actually pursue an ElfQuest film project. Thorpe and Rhodes hope that their project can generate the buzz needed to get the ball rolling.
ElfQuest was created in 1978 by Wendy and Richard Pini and tells the story of a community of elves that struggle to survive/co-exist with other races in a primitive earth-like setting.
Disclaimer: I barely know anything about ElfQuest. It came around just before I was born, and I never had a role model or peer who was...

From ComicsAlliance: A landmark of self-publishing and cult success, Wendi and Richard Pini's Elfquest is among the many independent comic book series whose translation to film could actually be pretty cool. The highly symbolic story of variously beautiful creatures in a philosophical struggle between tolerance and hate, progress and conservatism, and all sorts of crazy sex stuff, 'Elfquest' movie rumors have existed for nearly as long as we can remember, and a specific project announced in 2008 has yet to materialize.
Unsatisfied with this state of affairs, producers/actors Stephanie Thorpe and Paula Rhodes took matters into their own hands with 'Elfquest: A Fan Imagining,' a nearly five-minute, trailer-style short film that was produced with the blessing of the Pinis. Reflecting the fact that Elfquest has attracted far more female readers than most mainstream comics, 'A Fan Imagining' was...

Not sure about that laugh at the end, but the costumes and general tone are pretty good I think. Fans of Wendy and Richard Pini's great comics will recognize the likes of Dewshine, Clearbrook and Winowill in the trailer there. I guess they are saving the male characters for a sequel! Anyway. here is some info from their Website.. Welcome to our ElfQuest Fan Fiction trailer site! We hope it delights old fans and entices new ones to fall in love with the world of two moons. Both of us have been fans of Eq since we were little girls, and this project is a complete labor of love. We are working actresses and producers in the New Media circle and when we discovered our shared lifelong love for this series we were spurred to action. ElfQuest showed us the heroines that we could aspire to become and its magic shaped us,...

MGM has acquired and greenlit The Cabin in the Woods, a thriller penned by Joss Whedon (Serenity) and Drew Goddard ("Lost", Cloverfield) with Goddard signed to make his directorial debut and Whedon producing. No story details have been revealed. [Variety] Animated film Planet 51 has been picked up by TriStar Pictures for release on November 20, 2009. The film starring the voice talent of The Rock and Jessica Biel centers on an astronaut who lands on Planet 51 thinking he's the first to set foot on it. To his surprise, he discovers it's inhabited by little green people who live in a white picket-fenced world reminiscent of 1950s America. New Line originall had the project when it was announced in November of 2007, but when New Line folded into Warners it was ultimately let go. Warner Bros. is set to produce the big-screen adaptation of Wendy and Richard Pini’s cult comic “Elfquest,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Rawson Marshall Thurber, director of “Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story,” will write, helm and produce the film.
Created in 1978 “Elfquest” focuses on a tribe of elves who try to co-exist with other fictional species on an Earth-like planet with two moons.
I have never heard of the series before, but apparently the comics target a more mature audience. If you would like to find out more about “Elfquest,” click here to visit the official Web site.

"Elfquest," the cult comic by Wendy and Richard Pini, is heading to the big screen courtesy of Warners Bros. and Rawson Thurber.
Thurber will write, direct and produce the feature, whose format is undetermined.
The original comic, which the Pinis initially self-published starting in 1978, followed a tribe of elves known as the Wolfriders in their attempts to survive and link with other dispersed elves on an Earth-like planet with two moons while on the lookout for tribes of humans and trolls, both of which acted as allies and enemies.
The series -- which at certain points in its history was published by both Marvel and DC Comics -- attracted a more mature audience as it went along, with scenes of battles and sexuality that were intense for that time.
Hollywood has long tried to adapt the series, and several attempts at an animated series or feature have been made over the years.
Courtenay Valenti is overseeing for Warners.
Caa-repped Thurber, a commercials director, broke through into features with the 2004 Ben Stiller hit "Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story." He also wrote and directed "The Mysteries of Pittsburgh," an adaptation of the Michael Chabon novel.
The Pinis are repped by Rwsh and Hansen Literary.
