- Jean-Michel Portal was born on May 29, 1970 in Paris, France. He is an actor, known for La chambre des officiers (2001), L'homme que j'aime (1997) and Nos vies heureuses (1999).
- As a teenager, he and his friends formed a pop-rock band, "Alex de Lys", for which he was singer/songwriter/guitarist, and he dropped his studies at age 18 so they could perform on tour.
- At age 9, he joined a marionnette theater and was soon writing little plays for them to perform.
- He first worked with his "Man I Love" co-star, Marcial di Fonzo Bo, when they both appeared in Shakespeare's "Richard III". When Marcial went to audition for the film, Jean-Michel came along to read as his scene partner, which resulted in his being cast as Marcial's co-star.
