Bachelor Nation has been in an uproar for the past week after host Chris Harrison's questionable and disappointing remarks during an interview on Extra with former Bachelorette Rachel Lindsay regarding resurfaced photos of season 25 contestant Rachael Kirkconnell. Whew . . . where do I begin?
The amount of racist and inaccurate statements in his interview is alarming, and I was happy to see that the sirens rang loudly for many people in and out of the Bachelor world. Reactions from franchise alums and even the women of season 25 denounced Harrison's statements. Notably, Taylor Nolan of Nick Viall's season held multiple in-depth discussions with Victoria Price, host of Bachelor fan podcast The Blckchelorettes.
Lindsay responded to the controversy on both of her podcasts, Higher Learning and Bachelor Happy Hour, saying that she didn't react how she wanted to in the moment because she wanted people to hear how Harrison really felt. For her,...

Born in St. Louis on May 27, 1911, iconic actor Vincent Price retained a special fondness for his place of origin, and that love was reciprocated with Vincentennial, a celebration of his 100th birthday in his hometown back in May of 2011 (for summary of all the Vincentennial activities go Here).
In 2011, we asked Vincent Price’s daughter, Victoria Price, to write a testimonial about her famous father toasting him on the centennial of his birth, and here’s what she wrote:
When I was a little girl, I believed that to come from St. Louis made you a member of a very desirable club.

Robyn Karney, who has died of cancer aged 77, was a writer on film and a literary editor. She had comprehensive knowledge of the cinema, and in the early 1980s edited the popular Octopus Books series of Hollywood studio histories. She co-wrote the Bloomsbury Foreign Film Guide (1988, with Ronald Bergan) and was the compiler of Who’s Who in Hollywood (1993).
Perhaps her biggest project was as editor-in-chief of the Chronicle of the Cinema (1997; updated as Cinema, Year by Year), launched by Esther Williams at the Chateau Marmont in Hollywood. She loved being in the Us and, for instance, spent many months in Santa Fe working on Victoria Price’s 1999 book about her father, Vincent Price.

Today is Vincent Price’s 104th Birthday! Price was born here in St. Louis on this date in 1911 and is the most iconic movie star to hail from our city. Price, who died October 25th 1993, was also a gourmand, author, stage actor, speaker, world-class art collector, raconteur, and all-around Renaissance man. Vincent Price was simply one of the most remarkable people of the 20th Century. Four years ago we had the opportunity to celebrate his 100th birthday and St. Louis was the place to do it. I teamed up with Cinema St. Louis to present Vincentennial, The Vincent Price 100th Birthday Celebration, an event that lasted through much of the Spring of 2011. The following year Vincentennial won two coveted Rondo Awards, one for “Best Fan Event” and a second for myself as “Monster Kid of the Year” for directing the event. The Rondo Awards are prestigious Fan Awards given out...

Vincentennial, the Vincent Price 100th Birthday Celebration, which took place here in St. Louis last Spring and was covered in depth at We Are Movie Geeks, has been nominated for a Rondo Award for “Best Fan Event”. Now in their tenth year, The Rondo Awards are prestigious Fan Awards given out annually for the year’s best horror-related stuff–movies, magazines, articles, toys, etc. The Rondos are completely fan-based; nominees are selected by horror film fans and focus specifically on the horror genre. The awards are debated at The Classic Horror Film Board and presented at the Wonderfest Hobby Expo in May in Louisville, Ky. The awards are named for Rondo Hatton, the 1940′s-era character actor whose glandular disease resulted in a misshapen face and brutish appearance (an article I wrote for Wamg about Mr. Hatton can be found Here)
The Rondos have 31 categories covering all aspects of film and the horror genre in general,...

Undoubtedly, actor Vincent Price’s life-long dedication to art has been long overshadowed by his significant contributions to the horror genre since most fans may not even be aware that he was an avid supporter of the arts. In fact, his contributions to the art community in the Los Angeles area were remarkable at the time, and that’s part of the reason Price’s daughter, Victoria, is looking to keep his passions alive even though her father is no longer with us.
Recently Dread Central had the opportunity to chat with Victoria in anticipation of her father’s upcoming 100th birthday and hear from her about the side of Vincent that most fans may not have known and how his passion for the arts inspired her to forge her own path in the world of the creative arts.
For Victoria, growing up with a famous father wasn’t as unusual as you might think.
