Sometimes life imitates art, and other times, art imitates life. In the case of "Less Than Zero," it's impossible to miss the glaring similarities between star Robert Downey Jr. and his character Julian Wells. Loosely based on Bret Easton Ellis' debut novel of the same name, the 1987 film is, on its surface, about rich white kids doing too many drugs in Los Angeles. However, "Less Than Zero" is a powerful story about addiction that boasts unforgettable performances from Andrew McCarthy, Jami Gertz, and especially Robert Downey Jr. It's also beautifully shot by cinematographer Edward Lachman, who would later go on to earn Oscar nominations for his work on "Far From Heaven" and "Carol." Plus, the film has a great soundtrack.
"Less Than Zero" follows Clay (McCarthy), as he comes home from college to find his former girlfriend Blair (Gertz) and his best friend Julian not only sleeping together, but also...

Near the pinnacle of director-driven ’70s cinema is this marvelous comedy about a ‘American Miss’ contest, and the swirl of personalities that come to support, promote and ogle the teen beauties just learning the ropes of the good old U.S. hype machine. Bruce Dern, Barbara Feldon and Michael Kidd are just wonderful as the adults in charge of the pageantry; Annette O’Toole, Joan Prather and Melanie Griffifth are among the hopefuls, learning an early lesson in a time honored, entirely bogus Americana ritual: as Michael Kidd says, he teaches these sweet kids to dance and behave like Vegas showgirls. It’s deceptively, distractingly funny — and as true as the day is long.

Cars! Cars! Cars! What climate accord, when we’re celebrating the internal combustion engine! One of the best of the breezy ’70s action comedies, this cross-country road race picture gave us early looks at Gary Busey and Raul Julia in the midst of an always-amusing ensemble of car crazies, out to go from Manhattan to the Pacific in less than two days, at speeds up 175 mph! No 55 speed limit, no catalytic converters!

Chicago – There is a certain undefinable screen presence that makes some actresses look more comfortable on TV than others. Sarah Michelle Gellar has it. Juliana Margulies has it. Edie Falco definitely has it. Another actress who just seems at home on the small screen is Rachel Bilson, the former star of “The O.C.” who carries the new CW show “Hart of Dixie” to the back-handed praise of “moderately entertaining” but even she can’t save some cliched writing and the generic set-up. She does a reasonably good job making the premiere worth a look, but one-woman shows can only last so long before the supporting cast and the other issues with the program become more problematic.
Television Rating: 3.0/5.0
The lovely Bilson plays Zoe Hart, a smart young lady who graduated at the top of her medical school class and was ready for a sure-to-come fellowship that unexpectedly fell through. Lost and completely unsure of herself,...

Rachel Bilson Heating up Hart Of Dixie Pilot Promo Pics
The CW sent us some promos for Hart of Dixie, a new show coming to the network this month starring Rachel Bilson. The daily grind at the Boomtron Imperium is a series of choices. What to post, what to pass on, weighted by personal interest and what we feel fans most want to see. Hart of Dixie was a pass until genius marketing attacked my simple mind with the image above. Still, I’d feel odd drafting a post just because of a single image of Bilson, even if she seems to have returned from previous problems in fine form, but this was remedied as not second later we were also sent episode photos for the upcoming pilot, set to debut next week (September 26th). With the gallery came a episode, and I suppose series, synopsis. Check it below:

Just a heads-up before I start: now you can get updates from Caprica TV on Facebook, too, at Facebook.com/CapricaTV.
First off, big congrats to at Esai Morales on winning an award for Best Actor in a Feature Film at FilmOut San Diego's Lgbt Film Festival, where Gun Hill Road also picked up the award for Best First Narrative Feature, and Judas Kiss won for Best Screenwriting.
Also congrats to Callum Keith Rennie on nabbing a Gemini for Best Performance by an Actor in a Continuing Leading Dramatic Role for Shattered, and to the Blackstone team on winning two awards this year. Carmen Moore posted a few photos from the event on Facebook.
And congratulations to David Weddle, Bradley Thompson and everyone else working on Alphas on getting picked up for a second season! No word yet if John Pyper-Ferguson will be recurring in season two, but he will...
