Nascar stars Kurt Busch and Joey Logano face off in an epic showdown on the season finale of Fast N’ Loud. The two-hour special sees the pair race against each other, with Busch in a ’72 Pantera custom built by Fast N’ Loud’s Richard Rawlings and his Gas Monkey Garage Team, and Logano in a Factory 5 Shelby Daytona. Previews before the finale suggested the Gas Monkey crew were hoping to get around 550hp from their build, while Logano would only let slip that he was pushing “500-ish”. You can see Logano’s incredible car — and the trepidation it puts...read more...

Richard Rawlings strikes a deal with 2017 Daytona 500 winner Kurt Busch to build a 200mph ’72 Pantera on this week’s Fast N’ Loud — to race against fellow Nascar champion Joey Logano. The episode sees Busch make a surprise visit to Gas Monkey Garage, making quite the entry — in a helicopter! They then check out the white Pantera as Bush tells Rawlings and the crew: “These Panteras? I’ve always wanted to build one.” When he suggests they team up for the project, Rawlings is quick to agree and says: “I’m down!” Busch says: “I think we can take this...read more...

This week’s Fast N’ Loud sees legendary hot-rodder Brian Bass team up with Richard Rawlings and the Gas Monkey Garage team as the show’s first ever guest-builder. The project sees the Monkeys and Brian, owner of Bass Kustom in Dallas, Texas, turn a 1934 Ford Coupe into a 1960s style hot-rod. They find the long-forgotten Ford in a shed at a property in Tulsa, before taking it to Gas Monkey HQ in Dallas to give it the full treatment. Richard Rawlings shows how to make a quick $100,000 on this week’s Fast N’ Loud — on the 1965 Shelby Mustang GT350 he picked up in the premiere with a frozen engine. Despite buying it for $300,000, the Gas Monkey Garage founder manages to make a deal to shift it for $400,000. How does he do it? If anyone knows anything about selling cars it’s Rawlings, and his tactic on this deal is to go in super high — at $600,000, double the price he bought it for. He knows that if it was working it could fetch around $500,000....read more...

Fast N’ Loud’s Richard Rawlings has paid tribute to former co-star Aaron Kaufman as the series returns to Discovery for Season 5. We told earlier today how the Bearded Wonder is set to star in a new show on the network next year called Shifting Gears after leaving Gas Monkey Garage at the end of last season. In the premiere of Fast N’ Loud Season 5, Rawlings acknowledges that Kaufman was the “backbone” of his company for more than a decade. He also recently congratulated Kaufman on landing his new show. Former Fast N’ Loud star Aaron Kaufman is set to be in his own new show on Discovery next year, called Shifting Gears. The “Bearded Wonder”, who parted ways with Richard Rawlings and Gas Monkey Garage at the end of last season, is currently filming the new series, which is slated to air in Spring 2018. Unlike Fast N’ Loud, it will not be about flipping and selling cars, but will instead explore different types of car culture through building and driving cars. The Street Outlaws teams both beat their Fast N’ Loud rivals in the ultimate TV auto showdown, Discovery’s Mega Race. In what turned out to be the more serious and competitive of the two events, Big Chief beat Richard Rawlings in a best-of-three drag race — winning the first two races so a third one didn’t have to take place. The first one actually saw Richard’s Dodge Challenger, driven much to Big Chief’s annoyance by pro driver Alex Laughlin of Laughlin Motorsports, travel the 1/8 mile faster. But he took longer to get off the line than Big Chief, which meant Big...read more...

Believe it or not, Fast N’ Loud has been on the Discovery Channel for nearly a decade now (and a new show is airing tonight). “Fast N’ Loud” host Richard Rawlings just nailed the company that markets O'Reilly Auto Parts for underhanded business practices. Rawlings claimed in a lawsuit that he was hired to promote the auto parts giant for $100k. He says he made personal appearances and sang the virtues of O'Reilly on social media. In return, he says he got screwed out of $40k. A judge just awarded Rawlings a whopping $166,000 ... most of which are punitive damages for intentional wrongdoing.

Criterion digitally restores this earlier release, a combination offering of Robert Siodmak’s 1946 film noir masterpiece The Killers paired with Don Siegel’s retro 1964 remake. Famed adaptations of Ernest Hemingway’s short story, both filmmakers take liberties with the original material to create aggressively different products. Siodmak’s version is not only the German ex-pat’s enduring masterpiece, it’s a definite cornerstone of classic American film noir. Though Siegel’s 60s rehash is considered tacky pastiche of the era, it’s brutal, hard boiled B-grade pulp, notable for its own significant instances.
Siodmak’s version arrived during a golden era of noir, premiering a year after WWII officially ended, with cinematic masculine representation on the eve of an overhaul as method acting would soon reign supreme. Hemingway’s spare story gets a face life from Anthony Veiller (The Stranger; Night of the Iguana), using the murder as a jumping...

Discovery’s annual chum-n-fun Shark Week programming stunt has reeled in slightly fewer viewers this year, yet delivered record-setting numbers in a couple key demographics.
Sunday’s opener hooked an average of 3.6 million viewers, down 10 percent from 2013. Specifically, Air Jaws: Fin of Fury at 8 p.m. had 3.3 million viewers, while 9 p.m.’s Shark of Darkness: Wrath of Submarine had 3.8 million viewers. Among a couple of key demos like 18-49 and 25-54, however, the shows represented record highs—marking the biggest ratings in the 27-year history of Shark Week, which is good enough for Discovery to take a victory lap.
