Stepped in for Angela Lansbury to portray Mrs. Lovett in the original Broadway production of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd in 1979 when she went on vacation.
Started her professional career in Cleveland, Ohio, as a cooking expert on radio and with repertory companies in musicals. She later had her own 'agony aunt' radio show, "Ask Miss Wells".
After graduation, she worked in a bank as a typist and a mail page.
Along with Frances Sternhagen, Marge Redmond is performing at the
Florida Stage Theatre in Manalapan, Florida in a play called "The Exact
Center of the Universe". She also performed this show on two different
occasions in New York in April and September of 2000. (January 2001)
Graduated in 1942 from Lakewood High School in Cleveland, Ohio.
First performed on stage as a member of her high school's drama group, Barnstormers.
