The Netherlands Film Fund has appointed Roel Oude Nijhuis as film commissioner, taking over from Bas van der Ree.
Nijhuis will start in the role on April 1, and will work with van der Ree until the latter’s retirement in autumn this year.
The Netherlands Film Commission is a division of the Film Fund, and Nijhuis will be the national liaison between the Dutch creative media industries, international producers and production companies in the Netherlands.
The Netherlands Film Commission opened in 2014 with the introduction of the Film Production Incentive, which is a maximum 35% cash rebate for demonstrably incurred and qualifying Dutch production costs.

Jaclyn Philpott has been named the first executive director of the Association of Film Commissioners International, a global network of film commission members better known as Afci.
Philpott will take helm of the organization in the newly-created role on Jan. 3. She succeeds Eve Honthaner, who was named Afci president in August 2021 but stepped down in September for personal reasons.
In the role, Philpott will prioritize growing membership — currently the most geographically and culturally diverse roster in the organization’s 50 year history. Jaclyn Philpott has been named executive director of the Association of Film Commissioners International – a newly created post that she’ll assume on January 3. As the new leader of the organization, she succeeds former Afci President Eve Honthaner, who stepped down in September for personal reasons.
“I am honored to be selected as Afci’s new executive director and excited for the opportunity to work closely with our members across the world to build on the accomplishments of those who came before me. The screen sector is at a turning point in history, and I see significant opportunities for growth and collaboration,” said Philpott, a native of New Zealand. “There is a Māori proverb that states, ‘He Waka Eke Noa,’ which translates into: ‘We are all in this together. We rise together, fall together, work together and keep going together.'”
