Wood paneling, fake tans now river rock furniture? People put a lot of effort into making artificial things look real. We know they have their reasons - some like to pretend they live in boat cabins, some fear sun damage. But, as is the case with British designer John Reeves, some just want to make other people’s trash, well, not look like trash. In a new collection called Cast Aluminum Series One (CAS1), Reeves uses 100 percent recycled aluminum and Forest Stewardship Council-stamped white oak (sealed in natural wax) to make durable and virtually seamless tables and chairs that boast the same smooth curves and finish as the river rocks that inspired them. The pieces are soft, elegant, and definitely more natural looking than any fake tan we've ever seen. Give the guy some old soda cans and he thinks river rocks. We wonder what he can do with egg cartons.
