The campaign is spearheaded by former Filmhouse employees Rod White, David Boyd, James Rice and Ginnie Atkinson.
A fundraising campaign to raise £2m by December 7 to save Edinburgh Filmhouse has kicked off today (November 16), with the aim of securing Filmhouse as Edinburgh’s independent and cultural cinema hub.
The 88 Lothian Road building was formerly the home of the Filmhouse cinema, the Edinburgh International Film Festival (Eiff) and the Edinburgh Film Guild. The building was put up for sale after parent company the Centre for the Moving Image (Cmi) – which also ran the Belmont Filmhouse in Aberdeen – went into administration in October of this year.

Survivor returns to CBS on Wednesday, September 14, replete with a new cast, new twists and a new location: the South Pacific.
But, for reality TV junkies, there are a couple of familiar faces: Elyse Umemoto appeared on TLC's Miss America: Reality Check, while Whitney Duncan placed fifth on season five of Nashville Star. Also among the cast members below:
A lingerie football player, Mikayla Wingle, and a medical marijuana dispensary owner, Jim Rice.
Jeff Probst, meanwhile, has announced a few changes to the game. He told Entertainment Weekly:
Two returning players will join the cast and be announced later in the week. There will be hidden immunity idols with hidden clues: "Once you find the clue, then you have to find the idol," the host says. Redemption Island will return, but without the set-up of duel fights. It's one-on-one. Win or go home, contestants.

Yes folks, it's that time of year: the biannual release of the new Survivor cast! As well, a number of twists have been revealed. Russell Hantz, thankfully, is not part of the cast, but his 19-yr old nephew is! Further, Hidden Immunity Idols will actually be more difficult to find this year. How? Well, the good folks at Survivor have hidden the clues to the Hii's! Lastly, in addition to the sixteen contestants you see above, two Survivor veterans (to be revealed later this week) will be joining them. Will the newbies, who likely watched the most recent season (and Boston Rob winning the whole thing) be smart enough to kick the veterans off early? Personally, I think it depends on how much of a fan favorite the returning players are, but we'll have to see.
The new cast has the usual melange of people with weird/interesting jobs, including a lingerie football player,...

Russell Hantz may not be part of the new season of Survivor…but his nephew is. 19-year-old Brandon Hantz is one of 16 new contestants that will be competing for the million dollars when Survivor: South Pacific kicks off Wednesday, Sept. 14 on CBS. Among the players joining him is a former Miss America contestant, a country music singer, a Lingerie Football League player, and a medical marijuana dispensary owner. However, these players will not just have to battle each other. They will also have to take on two returning players, whose names will be revealed later in the week.

With any hall of fame, there are always going to be arguments about who belongs in and who doesn't, and there will typically be outrage about people who have been overlooked. Every hall of fame has its mysterious choices (baseball has Phil Rizzuto and Jim Rice, basketball has Adrian Dantley, football has Rickey Jackson), but this year's batch of inductees for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is pretty confusing. The new class includes Alice Cooper, Tom Waits, Neil Diamond, Dr. John and Darlene Love.
Taken in a vacuum, that's not a horrible group of musicians (Waits' inclusion is especially inspiring, considering he has been consistently turning out great work for decades without a lot of mainstream recognition). But when you look at the nominees that got denied (especially LL Cool J, Beastie Boys and Bon Jovi) and the groups who continue to get overlooked (Kiss, Rush), it seems...
