Years after the “Game of Thrones” Starbucks cup goof, eagle-eyed viewers have spotted a visual effects mistake in last Sunday’s “House of the Dragon” episode.
In Season 1 Episode 3, titled “Second of His Name,” a scene features King Viserys (Paddy Considine) handing a letter to a soldier. A Twitter user pointed out that the king’s fourth and fifth fingers are green in the episode — apparently a visual effects editor did not edit out the “green screen” effect on the digits.

Sad news in the Game of Thrones world. Everyone's new favorite character, Random Coffee Cup, has been digitally removed.
And just like that Coffee Cup Gate is no more...for now.
HBO has not so stealthily digitally removed the anachronistic coffee cup that made its series debut around the 17:40 mark of Game of Thrones season 8, episode 4 "The Last of the Starks." The offending cup was spotted by eagle-eyed Twitter users and was just kind of hanging out on a table while Tormund Giantsbane waxed poetic about his friend and king Jon Snow.
You're telling me they had Two Years to put together a decent show and they couldn't even spot the goddamn Starbucks cup in Winterfell??!?! #GameOfThrones pic.twitter.com/8opg7nyydv

Now here is the new version that popped up on HBO Now and HBO Go late Monday night/early Tuesday morning.

HBO has quietly scrubbed the misplaced coffee cup out of the “Game of Thrones” episode that aired Sunday night.
The premium cabler acknowledged the gaffe Monday after fans spotted the takeout cup on a table in front of Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) in a scene in episode 4 of season 8 just before the 17:40 mark. It resembled a Starbucks cup but in fact came from the production’s craft services — and where someone left it behind in Winterfell.
“The latte that appeared in the episode was a mistake. Daenerys had ordered an herbal tea,” HBO said in a statement.
As of Tuesday morning, the streaming version of the “Got” episode available on HBO Now and HBO Go had removed the offending cup from the scene. A rep for HBO confirmed the coffee cup was deleted and that future airings of the episode, “The Last of the Starks,” would be of the updated version.

"Game of Thrones" fans had their fun, but now it's over ... HBO has digitally removed that disposable coffee cup seen sitting on a table next to Daenerys Targaryen from Sunday's episode. As we reported ... the cup became the unexpected star of episode 4 of the hit show's final season when eagle-eyed viewers spotted it onscreen -- hardly for a second -- during a scene in "The Last of the Starks" while Tormund praises Jon Snow. The coffee cup that appeared in the fourth episode of the final season of the fantasy series "Game of Thrones" was a mistake, HBO network has explained.
"The latte that appeared in the episode was a mistake. Daenerys (the character Daenerys Targaryen played by Emilia Clarke) had ordered a herbal tea," the company said in a statement, reported variety.com.
For about two seconds in "The Last of the Starks" episode, a takeout coffee cup appeared on a table in front of Targaryen around the 17 minutes, 40-second mark. Based on the size and shape, many fans assumed it was a Starbucks cup, and the hashtag #Starkbucks trended on Twitter after the episode.
The official Twitter account of Starbucks Coffee tweeted: "Tbh we're surprised she didn't order a dragon drink."
In an email to Variety, "Game of Thrones" art director Hauke Richter said it's not uncommon for items to end up misplaced on set,...

HBO made fun of itself after eagle-eyed “Game of Thrones” viewers spotted a modern-day coffee cup in last night’s episode.

There were such high hopes and excitement for the final season of HBO’s Game of Thrones, but it hasn’t really been living up to the expectations of a lot of fans. First there was the super dark battle, and now, in this latest episode, we see that the creative team isn’t really paying attention to certain things.
In the most recent episode of the series titled “The Last of the Starks”, there’s a scene where you can clearly see a modern day coffee cup sitting on a table right in front of Daenerys. I guess the Mother of Dragons needed her caffeine pick-me-up for the day after what she previously went through in that last battle.
The coffee cup makes its grand appearance at the 17:50-minute mark during the episode. As you might expect, the Internet has been making fun of the mistake.

10:19 Am Pt -- Hauke Richter, 'GoT' Art Director for the past 5 seasons, tells TMZ ... the notorious cup is Not from Starbucks, but rather a local coffee shop in Banbridge, Northern Ireland near where they filmed. Richter says despite the hoopla and theories about the cup, he's certain it was just an accident. He says similar mistakes -- like Vikings or Indians wearing wristwatches -- happen on TV and in movies all the time ... they're...

Call her the Mother of Lattes?
HBO’s “Game of Thrones” season 8 episode 4 included a scene in which a takeout coffee cup — resembling the ubiquitous Starbucks containers — is clearly visible on a table in front of Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) just before the 17:40 mark.
The out-of-time-and-place cup, which can be seen for about two seconds, was spotted by “Got” fans shortly after the episode aired Sunday. As of Monday morning, it was on Twitter’s top 10 trending topics. Also trending on Twitter was the hashtag “Starkbucks,” a nod to the unexpected blending of House Stark and the Seattle-based coffee chain (although it’s not clear whether or not the cup is actually from Starbucks).
In an email to Variety, Hauke Richter, an art director for “Game of Thrones” seasons 4-8, said he had not yet seen Sunday night’s episode but noted that it’s not uncommon for such...
