- Received ASCAP Standard Music Panel Award for nine consecutive seasons, and Audelco Award and named to the Hall of Distinction at the African American Cultural Complex in Raleigh, NC.
- Played trumpet with the Lucky Millinder orchestra and Lionel Hampton orchestra in the 1940's-early 50's. First African American tenor soloist with the Robert Shaw Chorale.
- Howard A. Roberts was raised in Cleveland, Ohio and graduated from Cleveland Central High before attending Baldwin Wallace College and the Cleveland Institute of Music. Awarded the Distinguished Alumni Award from Cleveland Institute of Music in 2007 and was inducted into the Karamu House Hall of Fame in 2009.
- Responsible for the oft-parodied high-pitched guitar melody riff in the original theme music to The Twilight Zone (1959). Roberts also provided the funky finger-snapping on Peggy Lee's 1958 hit "Fever".
