It was merely three years ago that the Red Camera was first released, driven by the maverick inventiveness of Jim Jannard. Parallels to the iPhone can be easily made, as both revolutionary products took the world by storm in 2007, changing the landscape of their respective fields. Within a very short time, both the Red and the iPhone have become leading brands, even more so because they constantly strive for improvements and innovation to remain ahead of the curve. Red has continued to evolve with its recent releases of the Epic X S-35 and the Scarlet, skewed towards the ‘Prosumer’ market. LightIRON Digital’s Michael Cioni is a valuable resource in the arena of ultra high resolution and has overseen post on hundreds of Red projects at his offices in Culver City. He is aware that the ‘4K market-place’ has fully arrived on the landscape and foresees some steep competition by...

From the hundred-foot supergraphics that coat historic buildings like Christo sculptures to the garish digital screens that cast a sickly glow over once-dark neighborhoods, Los Angeles seems to be losing a battle with ugly billboards. So the timing of a new large-scale urban installation that replaces mega-ads for McDonald's Mac Snack Wraps with works of mega-art by Kerry Tribe (above) couldn't be better.

At least five years in the making, How Many Billboards? Art In Stead was organized by the Mak Center (who also co-operates the Schindler House in West Hollywood). When Kimberli Meyer was appointed its director in 2002, she began the arduous process of raising enough money to swap sweating Bud Light bottles with the sharp wordplay of...

Gold, the new RPG gamer-themed web series premieres today, offering a comical tribute to "the geekily wonderful world of traditional, pen-and-paper style role playing gaming." Not everyone could imagine spending their bachelor party rolling their multi-sided dice and casting spells, but for Gold lead character, Jonathan Drake (David Nett), that's exactly where he'd want to be: living the life of a Professional Tabletop Role Playing Gamer. The only problem is, his fiancée would rather have him focused on the wedding while his gaming team want him focused on the game. These are the stakes in the first episode (above) "Dark Clouds Gather" created by indie producers Nett, Andrew R. Deutsch, Shannon Nelson and Chad Schnaible under the production banners Brown Corduroy Jacket, and Punisher77. The show focuses on the journey of an American "Goblins and Gold" team as they attempt to win gold in the World G&G Championship, defeating...

NEW YORK -- First Independent Pictures and Magnolia Home Entertainment are acquiring North American rights to the road comedy Moving McAllister starring Mila Kunis, Jon Heder and Rutger Hauer.
Producer-screenwriter-financier Ben Gourley stars as Rick Robinson, an ambitious Miami law firm intern who helps the top partner (Hauer) by moving his attractive niece (Kunis) across the country. With just five days before his bar exam, Robinson must cope with many time-slowing distractions, including a hitchhiker (Heder) and an attraction to his off-limits road partner.
Jason Faller, Kynan Griffin, T.R. Gourley and Maclain Nelson also produced the feature, which was directed by Andrew Black (Pride and Prejudice). It begins a platform rollout Sept. 14 in select cities.
"We were after this hysterical and touching film since (the 2006 American Film Market) and are also quite pleased to have made an alliance for this picture with Magnolia Home Entertainment," FIP president Gary Rubin said.
Other FIP releases include Edmond, starring William H. Macy and Julia Stiles, and The Great New Wonderful, starring Maggie Gyllenhaal and Edie Falco.
