Though it never charted above No. 72, Korn’s self-titled 1994 debut has had unparalleled influence over the last two decades of American heavy music: the rise of nu-metal’s whomping pain-stomp, the road to platinum genre-smashers like Linkin Park and Slipknot, the popularity of the 7-string guitar, the emergence of superstar producer Ross Robinson and his method-acting-style techniques and even the mosh-centric rhythms of stadium dubstep artists like avowed Korn fan Skrillex.
While aging metalheads were trying to walk confidently through alternative nation, Korn lurched into the world like hip-hop zombies rocking Adidas tracksuits,...

Sepultura – The Mediator Between Head and Hands Must Be The Heart
Label: Nuclear Blast
With an entry due in the Guinness Book of Records, perhaps, for the longest album name in history – Sepultura’s 13th studio effort has introduced yet another line-up change into their ranks.
Drummer Eloy Casagrande makes his debut on an album which sees the Brazilian quartet reunited with Ross Robinson, who previously produced ‘Roots’, their last release with former singer and founder Max Cavalera. The results of this partnership are immediately evident in the fresh sound of this craft, with tracks like “Grief” and “Impending Doom” sounding as crushing as anything from ‘Chaos A.D.’
Of course, if a band is only as good as their last album, then this will certainly boost their appeal – what’s best is that the album feels like a Sepultura release, retaining the principles and energy of classic Thrash, while...

The iconic guitarist Brian ‘Head’ Welch has officially announced his return with former band Korn since leaving in 2005. Welch, one of the co-founders of Korn, had left the band to focus on his solo career and family after turning to Christianity. In 2008, the album Save Me From Myself was released and reflected much of Welch’s life and experiences while maintaining a very ‘Korn-esque’ flavour.
While Korn fans would have more than likely felt the absence of the enigmatic ‘Head’, the band went on to produce a series of albums while experimenting with different sounds. Their tenth album, The Path of Totality (2011), had a twist of dubstep while most of their work after Welch’s departure lacked his trademark atmospheric and detuned riffs.
News of the iconic member reuniting with Korn after nearly 10 years was announced by the musician through Twitter. The rejuvenated band is believed to have been in...

While many might feel this article is a violent blast from the past, the intense theatrical and creative expression Limp Bizkit encompasses through their delivery, message, stage presence and theme remain unmatched by most. Of course, the music industry would still thrive without them and the presence of hundreds of other bands that also “kick holes in speakers” prove that the art remains alive, but no one quite does it like Limp Bizkit.
Having established themselves as a trusted brand for the dark art lovers, their work also elicit an openly adventurous mind and some dynamic perception; their music (their best work at least) come as a reflection of a broken inner self themed around existentialism and individualism. Lb’s works usually capture the strife modern patterns of life puts the individual through, and how unforgiving the philistine mind state of many can cripple those of others with a different...

Limp Bizkit is "Ready To Go" with the first single off their forthcoming album, "Stampede of the Disco Elephants." The track features Lil Wayne and is produced by Polow Da Don. The first verse has Fred Durst spitting lyrics he has probably been waiting to "sing" for a while, particularly a special nod to his rumored ex-flame, Britney Spears. (Note: The video above contains language that may not be suitable for sensitive listeners.)
Here is a sample of the lyrics:
"Back is the mother f***in' rock god. I'm so poker face, ladies goin' gaga. TThat's right it's Freddy D, the public enemy. You know the one that had Britney droppin' to her knees. I don't give a f***, I probably never will. B**** get at me if that a** is like Jessica Biel. ...Baby you're a rock star -- I know who the f*** I am. Forty million records later,...

The World War Z production team has relocated a salvage vessel to a warship in Cornwall, England for today's shooting. Naturally, paparazzi cameras were snapping away at star Brad Pitt. Set in the near future, it revolves around Un employee Gerry Lane (Pitt) who traverses the world in a race against time to stop the zombie pandemic that is toppling its armies and governments, and threatening to decimate humanity itself. Mireille Enos also stars as Gerry's wife, Karin. Paramount will release the film next summer. (Photo Credit: Ross Robinson/WENN.com)...

It's almost not fair to those who've already graduated. A new app from some University of Waterloo undergraduates makes that "works cited" page a cinch.
Sometimes a technology comes along that is so great it seems almost unjust to former generations. Aviation. The personal computer. The polio vaccine.
One gets the same feeling today when considering a new app out for iPhone and Android. Quick Cite, a 99-cent app, automates the task of putting together a bibliography--that arduous list of books, articles, and other sources consulted that goes at the end of a master's thesis of PhD dissertation. The first thought you have is, "How much time scholars will henceforth save!" The next thought you have is, "Anyone who got a PhD before the year 2011 was a poor sucker."
The app works by using the smartphone's camera to scan the barcode on the back of a book. Then it emails...

One of the best voices in metal officially becomes a year older today, as Corey Taylor (he of Slipknot and Stone Sour fame) celebrates his birthday on December 8. The multi-talented, sometimes-masked musician is now 37 years old, and he has come quite a long way from a childhood spent in Iowa.
After learning about rock music from his grandmother and graduating from Elvis licks to Black Sabbath riffage, Taylor helped form Stone Sour in 1992. The band put together some demo recordings and played a steady stream of gigs, but Taylor and bandmate Jim Root became more focused on a new project called Slipknot around 1997. Taylor put his own band on hiatus to focus on Slipknot, which ended up being a reasonable decision.
Though their sound was decidedly chaotic and wholly non-commercial, Slipknot quickly earned a reputation as an intense live act who were forging an entirely new sound in the metal arena.

Jamie Reynolds has said that Klaxons were "bratty kids" before Ross Robinson came on board to produce their upcoming second album. The band ditched their first sessions for the follow-up to 2007's Myths Of The Near Future before hooking up with Robinson for the upcoming Surfing The Void. Bassist Jamie Reynolds told The Quietus: "Working with Ross had made us players. He made everybody feel comfortable with their instruments. Stefan on the drums excelled, Simon's guitar playing is through the roof, and James and I are on fire and feeding off each other. "But (more)...

Klaxons have suggested that they will one day release the outtakes from the sessions for their second album. The band abandoned several of the tracks planned for the record before teaming up with Ross Robinson to complete the follow-up to 2007's Myths Of The Near Future. Asked about the 'missing record' by Zane Lowe for his website, keyboard player/singer James Righton said: "Folky, it's not a record for a start, it's about five - it's an Ep - which will see the light of day at some point. "It's a lot more complex, a lot more considered as well. There's a lot of notes, a lot of chords and lots of layered vocals." Bassist Jamie Reynolds added: "It's kind of slow. (more)...

Korn star Jonathan Davis wanted to kill himself while recording the band's latest album - because producer Ross Robinson drove him to the brink of madness. The rockers teamed up with Robinson, who worked on their first two albums, to record "Korn III : Remember Who You Are".
Davis, who has been on anti-depressants since he quit drugs 12 years ago, was constantly tormented by Ross in the studio, as the producer forced him to open up about his ultra-personal lyrics. The frontman admits he fell into a deep depression and "wanted to die" - and became convinced Robinson was "sticking a knife" into him at every opportunity.
Davis tells Kerrang! magazine, "Making the record was sheer f**king hell. It was one of the most difficult things in my life. It was f**king torment. (Ross) put me in a place I didn't want to be. He put me in...

Korn's Jonathan Davis has revealed that he "wanted to die" while recording the band's latest album Korn III - Remember Who You Are. The rocker said that he was tortured by producer Ross Robinson, who forced him to discuss the meaning of the lyrics he wrote, reports the Daily Star. "Making the record was sheer f**king hell. It was one of the most difficult things in my life," he explained. "It was f**king torment. [Ross] put me in a place I didn't want to be. He put me in a horrible depression where I wanted to kill myself again. It was f**ked up. He was just pushing my buttons, tormenting me and f**king me up." He continued: "He'd find out everything that my lyrics were about, then he'd use that s**t as ammo while I was singing. I got back into a position where I trusted him,...

After its two-album deal with Emi/Virgin came and went, Korn has now signed with another new label for its forthcoming effort: Roadrunner. The hard rock home of other acts like Rob Zombie, Nickelback, Slipknot and Slash, Roadrunner Records will be releasing the band's next "Korn III - Remember Who You Are" in June. This full-length set, their ninth, is produced by Ross Robinson, who helmed their 1994 self-titled set as well as 1996's "Life Is Peachy." "We called this record 'Korn III -- Remember Who You Are' because it really feels like a return to that attitude we had on the...
