"One Piece" has become arguably the biggest pirate world in fiction. This is one of the most popular anime and manga of all time — a show with a reputation as legendary as "Dragon Ball Z." Not only has that reputation resulted in a hugely successful and Guinness World Record-holder best-selling manga, but also one of the best live-action anime adaptations out there — and a soon-to-be remake for the still-ongoing anime.
The show is about a world full of pirates, all engaged in a worldwide hunt for the titular One Piece, a legendary massive treasure left behind by the former Pirate King Gol D. Roger. It is a lengthy story worthy of its legendary reputation, with unparalleled worldbuilding, a lot of variety in the tones, and even genres of stories explored as our main Straw Hat crew of pirates travel from island to island on their way to finding the One Piece.

(Welcome to Ani-time Ani-where, a regular column dedicated to helping the uninitiated understand and appreciate the world of anime.)
I've been lucky enough to write this column for four years now, allowing me to explore and recommend anime both new and classic with a focus on introducing newcomers to the art form. I try to end every year by recommending a longer, beloved anime -- one that represents why the medium has taken the world by storm and why it is unlike any other.
After four years, it is finally time to embark on an epic high-seas adventure, to brave the perilous grand line of 1,000 episodes (and more) in search of wealth, fame, and power, just like the pirate Gol D. Roger once did. That's right! It's time to come aboard and bring along all your hopes and dreams because together, we will find the "One Piece."
This is an anime that needs no introduction.

The world premieres of Tracks, musical The Boy Castaways, documentary Tender and short film I Want To Dance Better at Parties are among the highlights of this year.s Adelaide Film Festival. The common denominator: Each was part-funded by the festival, which runs October 10-20. For the first time the event will be held in conjunction with the Festival of Ideas (October 17-20). The Aff.s new CEO and Director Amanda Duthie is still finalising the line-up of about 150 titles; submissions close on July 25. The bi-annual fest.s opener is the South Australian-shot Tracks, the true story of Robyn Davidson.s solo 2,700 km trek via camels across the Australian desert in 1977, accompanied by her dog Diggity. Real talk: my idea of a good time is getting day drunk on a beach. D-Pad Studios, however, use their vacation time like productive members of society: when the team decided they needed a break from developing the much-ballyhooed "Owlboy," they spent their free time developing "Savant" instead of getting gross airbrush t-shirts at an Alvin's Island in Panama City Beach.
As D-Pad art director Simon Stafsnes Andersen explains on his blog, "Savant" got started over the course of several collaborations between him and Norwegian DJ Aleksander Vinter. Stafsnes designed some album art for Vinter (who's stage name is, appropriately, "Savant"), and Vinter wrote the music for various D-Pad projects. Eventually, the two decided to make a quick game for Savant's latest album, called Cult.
The result is "Savant," a kind of bullet hell platformer: set in a Gothic steampunk elevator shaft, the eponymous Savant can...

The Temper Trap are to play this year's Australian Football League Grand Final, it has been confirmed. The band - best known internationally for their hit single 'Sweet Disposition' - will perform on the pitch at half-time and will then be joined by singer-songwriter Paul Kelly for a post-game show at the McG, in a shake-up of the flagship sports fixture's traditional entertainment programme. Kelly will also perform as part of the pre-game entertainment, along with Tim Rogers. In a rather surprising move from a Hong Kong gaming magazine, Final Fantasy Xiii gets a just below average score of 4/10. The article was not translated completely, though the summary and some passages of the written review were made available and it was less than flattering. Some scores and their comments include:
Scenario: 2.0 — “An epic tear jerker”
Sound: 7.0 — “Mostly quality.”
Enthusiasm: 1.0 “As if you could play this for 100 hours! I could put up with 8.”
I would presume “Scenario” meant the storyline, which I think is humorous that the publication used a very sarcastic remark to address it. The only real high score Ffxiii managed to snag from the reviewer was the graphics, which most can agree, look rather dazzling. The gameplay received a rating of 1/10 and was called “crude.” When it came to the actual review… well, see for yourself:
