Bradford Ropes worked as a dancer on Broadway and also wrote novels and
screenplays in Hollywood, where he was in the early 40s a contract
player for Republic. His best remembered work, the novel "42nd
Street,", was made into a movie (he collaborated on the adaptation) and
a very successful Broadway musical.
