It was announced yesterday that HBO Max had cancelled Titans and Doom Patrol after four seasons, which prompted some fans to place the blame on James Gunn and Peter Safran. As the pair became co-chairmen and CEO’s of DC Studios late last year, you would think that they did have a hand in ending Titans and Doom Patrol, but James Gunn took to Twitter to say that the decision to end both shows actually preceded their appointments.
The decision to end the series precedes us. But I certainly wish the best for the talented group of creators, actors, and the rest of the crew that produced both shows. https://t.co/jdqDc9TqU1

The team is breaking up. The Titans TV series has been cancelled by HBO Max. There won't be a fifth season, but the live-action show's not over just yet.
A superhero action-adventure drama series, the Titans TV show stars Brenton Thwaites, Anna Diop, Teagan Croft, Ryan Potter, Joshua Orpin, Jay Lycurgo, Franka Potente, and Joseph Morgan. Based on the DC Comics characters, the live-action superhero drama centers on the core team of Nightwing aka Dick Grayson (Thwaites); Rachel Roth aka Raven (Croft); Koriand’r aka Starfire (Diop); and Garfield Logan aka Beast Boy (Potter). These heroes band together to form the Titans and fight off a powerful enemy while winding up working as a surrogate family. In season four, the team members find themselves in the crosshairs of a supernatural cult with powers, unlike anything they've faced before. Read...

The official trailer for Titans Season 4 is here, and it looks like a major step up from Titans Season 3.
The team goes toe-to-toe with plenty of villains, including Lex Luthor (Titus Welliver), Brother Blood (Joseph Morgan), and plenty more.
Lex is a considerable presence in the trailer as Welliver promises to deliver a different iteration of Lex.
“Welcome to the ancient world, Mr. Luthor. Soon the gods will know your name," we hear someone say.
“I can assure you — the gods already know me," Lex fires back.
Franka Potente is also on board as Mother Mayhem, and it looks like this villain came prepared.
Titans Season 4 will debut with two episodes on November 3.
A midseason finale will air Thursday, December 1, while the second batch of episodes will launch sometime in 2023.

Titans Season 4 gets underway on HBO Max later this year.
As the promotional trail for the series begins, we have some exciting casting news.
Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Titus Welliver has joined the cast as Lex Luthor.
Showrunner Greg Walker told the outlet that this iteration of Lex "has a very sensitive, thoughtful approach to evil and power."
Naturally, this sudden arrival will have a big effect on Connor.
As viewers are well aware, Connor was created from Superman and Lex's DNA.
“He’s explored his Superman self, but he has not really explored his Lex self,” Walker told EW.
“What does that mean when you do?”
Connor has been struggling to come to grips with a life away from a lab, regularly being put in the firing line.
The tricky part of Lex's arrival is that he could start to gravitate towards the dark side, assuming this iteration...

As we eagerly await more news on “Titans” Season 3, HBO Max just teased us with the first look at Jason Todd’s Red Hood supersuit.
Currently in production, Season 3 of the DC series will mark the first time the individual Red Hood costume will ever be seen in a live-action production, according to HBO Max.
Created by costume designer Laura Jean (“Lj”) Shannon, Jason Todd (Curran Waters) will wear the cool new threads as his Red Hood persona in the upcoming season — after his stint as the new Robin, that is.
Season 1 and 2 of “Titans” will be available to stream on HBO Max starting Nov. 1, having previously streamed on the DC Universe platform before it stopped making original content in September. No premiere date has been set yet for Season 3.

Looks like Barbara Gordon/Oracle will be entering the fray for Titans season 3.
That’s according to sources close to Discussing Film, which indicate that Gordon will feature in a major recurring role. Word is the Powers That Be have already begun casting the net in search of actresses, and it appears Titans season 3 will stay true to Batman: The Killing Joke in that the paralyzed Oracle will take center stage as Commissioner of the Gcpd following the passing of her late father, James Gordon.
Another important tidbit in this scoop: DC is reportedly keen to cast an actress who uses a wheelchair for the coveted role. Indeed, it shouldn’t take long before new information comes to light, given the third season of Titans is scheduled to begin filming in Toronto, Canada on March 30th – presumably ahead of a premiere in the latter stages of 2020. Or early 2021, depending on scheduling.

The adventures of Dick Grayson and his ever expanding band of Titans will continue on DC Universe.
The streamer has confirmed that Season 3 of Titans is a go, and it will bow on the service in fall 2020.
Titans Season 2 has found the heroes Dick Grayson, Rachel Roth/Raven, Kory Anders/Starfire, Gar Logan/Beast Boy, Hank Hall/Hawk, Dawn Granger/Dove, Donna Troy/Wonder Girl, and Jason Todd/Robin going up against an old foe in Deathstroke, the man responsible for the team disbanding four years earlier.
He continues to be a force to be reckoned with as secrets from the past have threatened to end to destroy the unit Dick helped create.
It's been a resounding success, once again, with excellent fight scenes, new heroes, and a witty script.
The big concern for the series is that the heroes never stay together for long, rendering the term "Titans" to...

This review is based off the season premiere.
Throughout my history of reviewing TV shows, I’ve had to base my critiques on samplings varying from one to five episodes before the time of premiere. As you could imagine, the maximum amount is preferred because not only is it just plain cool to see that much content before anyone else, but also due to the fact that it allows for someone such as me to formulate a more informed opinion regarding the TV show itself.
Like I said, I’m no stranger to viewing only one episode going into a new season, but doing so for Titans‘ sophomore year admittedly made me nervous at first. Those familiar with this series’ production are aware of how “Trigon” had originally been intended to serve as season 1’s finale, only to be saved for season 2. That said, you’re probably wondering if DC Universe’s gamble paid off.

With Titans Season 2 coming to DC Universe in a little over a week, a new trailer has been released to get the fans excited for what is to come.
As you’ll see there’s a lot of tension built up as the story continues with Season 2 and Slade Wilson a.k.a. Deathstroke is going to pose a big threat to the heroes. I enjoyed Season 1 and I’m curious to see how this next chapter plays out. The most interesting aspect for it for me is going to be seeing how Bruce Wayne will be utilized in the story. Then there’s Dick Greyson who is looking at becoming Batman!?
Here’s the synopsis for Season 2:
In this action-packed, live-action series, Dick Grayson, aka the former Robin (series star Brenton Thwaites), emerges from the shadows to lead a band of new heroes – including Starfire, Raven, Beast Boy and others.

Just think: in two weeks and change, one of the most popular superhero shows around will return, as Titans commences its highly anticipated second season on DC Universe. I don’t know about you, but I simply can’t wait.
In recent memory, we’ve seen several fresh goodies surface online, including a trailer made available to those who didn’t attend San Diego Comic-Con, as well as an awesome new poster adding the likes of Superboy, Deathstroke and Ravager to the fold.
Now, WB has sent a handful of images taken from the season premiere our way. Actually, this particular episode, “Trigon,” was originally slated to serve as season 1’s finale, but plans changed. Regardless, you can peep the new photos in the gallery found below.

From where I’m sitting, this has been a pretty good week for those of us awaiting Titans‘ sophomore season. Of course, those of you who had the pleasure of attending San Diego Comic-Con had already viewed the latter, but the rest of the world has now had the opportunity to partake in the fun.
So, while newcomers like Deathstroke, Superboy and Aqualad steal the attention, it’s important we not forget the veterans carrying over from the first season. After all, what would this show be without core characters such as Dick Grayson, Raven, Starfire and Beast Boy?
Actually, it’s somewhat premature addressing two of those folks by their superhero codenames, but that’s just force of habit when it comes to us comic book readers. Addressing Rachel Roth specifically,...

I have already read and reviewed two of the DC Ink books, featuring Mera and Selina Kyle, and enjoyed both quite a lot. Though, as DC’s foray into the Young Adult book market, these were not aimed at me, I read them with a view to try and understand the audience they were pitched at, and they did that job beautifully. They took typical teen themes such as angst, alienation and social awkwardness, and married them with younger versions of future superheroes like Catwoman, Aquaman’s future wife Mera and now, Raven, from the Teen Titans. It says a lot for the versatility of these characters that they adapt so well to this new approach. Although, to be fair, Kami Garcia with this book had an easier time than most, Raven already has some pretty good emo chops already.

The team is returning this fall. DC Universe has announced that the live-action Titans TV show will be returning for its second season on Friday, September 6th. The news was announced over the weekend at the streaming service's two-hour event at Comic-Con. The first season of 11 episodes was released October through December 2018.
A superhero drama, Titans stars Brenton Thwaites, Teagan Croft, Anna Diop, Ryan Potter, April Bowlby, Bruno Bichir, Lindsey Gort, Minka Kelly, Seamus Deaver, and Alan Ritchson. Based on the DC Comics characters, the live-action superhero drama centers on the former Robin, Dick Grayson (Thwaites); Rachel Roth aka Raven (Croft); Koriand’r aka Starfire (Diop); and Garfield Logan aka Beast Boy (Potter). As these four heroes band together to form the Titans and fight off a powerful enemy, they also wind up working like a surrogate family.

Fans were horrified when the overly dark teaser trailer arrived last summer, with a wet, angry Robin (Brenton Thwaites) declaring, “Fuck Batman!” This was certainly not the Bob Haney and Nick Cardy version or even the Marv Wolfman and George Pérez version that was a direct ancestor. As a result, the Titans series which helped launch the DC Universe streaming service was approached with a great deal of apprehension.
The bottom line is that it turned out better than one feared although it really had little to do with the once best-selling title that is credited with saving DC Comics from creative failure. The 11 episodes are now collected by Warner Home Entertained as Titans: The Complete First Season, a two-disc Blu-ray offering out now.
For those unwilling to shell out for the channel, this and the other shows coming to disc is a great way to catch up.

Despite the fact that a fair amount of geeks have seen the original series housed by the DC Universe streaming service, I’ve often wished they’d be enjoyed by a wider audience. Granted, the limited reach comes with the territory of being a niche platform, but I remember turning to a friend during a jam-packed Lucifer panel at Motor City Comic Con this past May and saying something like “if only all these people watched Doom Patrol.”
Okay, this review obviously isn’t about Doom Patrol (though they will be discussed in a bit), but you get my point. And now, with Titans: The Complete First Season‘s home video release upon us, the masses have their chance to get in on the ground floor for something that may prove to be as magical as The CW’s Arrowverse.

We talked to the author of the new original graphic novel set in the Teen Titans universe.
It has been a good year for DC’s Teen Titans. Just a year ago, Teen Titans Go! to the Movies hit movie theaters. Since then, the characters have starred in a storyline in the Mmo DC Universe Online and had a successful first season launching the new DC Universe streaming service in Titans. Now, the characters are being relaunched in an excellent new original graphic novel run starring individual characters by Ya star Kami Garcia, with pencils by comics newcomer (but fan favorite) Gabriel Picolo.
Teen Titans: Raven reimagines Rachel Roth as a normal teenage girl (if one can be half demon and be normal). “We wanted to portray her as a real teen,” Garcia told Den of Geek. “I just wanted Raven to seem like a girl...

For years now, Warner Bros. and DC Comics have made a huge effort to deliver darker, edgier adaptations of their beloved superheroes. With network television restrictions, they hadn't been able to go as far as they may have liked with Arrow, Flash, Supergirl, Black Lightning, and Legends of Tomorrow. That is, until the DC Universe debuted. With DC's own streaming platform, they were able to finally unleash the full potential of their dark universe, starting with Titans.
