20th Century Fox has tapped Erica Rothschild to adapt R.L. Stine's multi-tome juvenile fiction series Rotten School.
Set at a zany boarding school, the story centers on class punk Bernie Bridges as he schemes against his teachers and rival students.
The first book in the series was published in 2005 by HarperCollins.
Fox also is teaming with Stine to bring his best-selling kids horror series Goosebumps to the big screen. Although the two series are aimed at the same audience, Rotten School contains more pranks and less scares than Goosebumps.
Marc Resteghini is overseeing Rotten School for Fox.
Rothschild's credits include the teen comedy Style Council, which Mike Karz is producing for New Line, and she is co-writing Wedding Olympics for Strike Entertainment with Robert Cort producing. Her romantic comedy spec Honeymoon Is Over is set up at Gold Circle, with Peter Safran producing.
She is repped by Paradigm, Brillstein-Grey and attorney Andrew Galker.
