Oh, God. The enfant terrible of animated comedies is delivering unto us a Season 22 finale of biblical proportions. Because after Family Guy’s near-quarter of a century on the air, nothing is sacred! “I never thought I’d hear myself say this as a writer,” confesses Richard Appel, a showrunner alongside Alec Sulkin, “but the Standards and Practices department at Fox is easy to work with and pretty good with us.” Due in part to the sheer success of the cartoon, as well as its consistent ability to push the envelope without inspiring boycotts (anymore), Guy has gotten away with decades of gags other shows wouldn’t dare to attempt—like tonight’s trip back to the days of Jesus. A travesty, you say? Even the respected drama The Chosen has a sense of humor—witness its Jesus (Jonathan Roumie) cracking jokes! The episode kicks off with Brian the dog...

Exclusive: Fox Nation is lining up more religious content ahead of Easter, snapping up the rights to both The Chosen and The Passion of the Christ.
Passion of the Christ will be available beginning March 8, while Seasons 1 through 3 of The Chosen are set to debut on Fox Nation on March 10.
Both titles will be available through the peak viewing season, with Passion remaining through Easter and The Chosen staying even longer, through April 21.
In addition to these titles, Fox Nation will also be hosting a roundtable discussion to dissect both programs, led by Fox & Friends host Ainsley Earhardt. Details on guests for the roundtable are coming soon, Fox says.
The Chosen has become somewhat of a hot commodity lately, with The CW picking up the first three seasons last summer. The series about the life of Jesus is from creator, director and producer Dallas Jenkins and stars Jonathan Roumie as the King of Kings.
The Chosen is described as the first multi-season series of its kind. Set against the backdrop of Jewish oppression in first-century Israel, the seven-season show shares an authentic and intimate look at Jesus’ revolutionary life and teachings. The fourth season hit theaters in February, and Season 5 is in production.
It began as a crowdsourcing project on the Angel Studios app and turned into a global hit with over 110 million viewers in 175 countries, with plans to make it available in 600 languages. The series has generated 6.5 million followers across social media, made $35 million at box office in special-event theatrical releases and has spawned an apparel line, best-selling books, DVDs and an upcoming series of graphic novels.
Directed by Mel Gibson, The Passion of the Christ is a 2004 film about the last 12 hours in the life of Jesus of Nazareth (Jim Caviezel). The film opens in the Garden of Olives (Gethsemane) where Jesus has gone to pray after the Last Supper. Jesus resists Satan’s temptations. Betrayed by Judas Iscariot, Jesus is arrested and taken back to within the city walls of Jerusalem where the leaders of the Pharisees confront him with accusations of blasphemy and his trial results in a condemnation to death.
The pic remains the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time domestically, with $370.8 million. It was No. 1 at the North American box office for five nonconsecutive weeks.
Fox Nation has been building its platform on faith-based content, including the docu-drama Jesus Crown of Thorns coming in 2025.

Dunkin’ undoubtedly stole the show with the best Super Bowl ad this year. The Super Bowl is not only a fiercely competitive sport for the teams involved but also for companies striving to churn out memorable and attention-grabbing ads.
Dunkin’ this year achieved this feat by featuring JLo, Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, and Tom Brady all in one star-studded commercial, representing the essence of Boston. However, fans couldn’t help but wonder why Mark Wahlberg wasn’t part of the commercial. The actor finally addressed this question during an interview with Stephen Colbert.

Why Wasn’t Mark Wahlberg in the Dunkin’ Ad?
Actor Mark Wahlberg appeared on the Stephen Colbert Show, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, to address some pressing questions regarding his absence from the Dunkin’ commercials. With two of his closest friends, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, alongside Tom Brady, it seemed like a full house of Boston boys.

Not to sound like a broken record, but it was, once again, a pretty quiet weekend at the box office. Director Matthew Vaughn's "Argylle" topped the charts with a modest $18 million (which was sadly below industry projections) and, quite frankly, that isn't going to be enough to keep theaters afloat until the slate improves in March. But amid the unfortunate slowness of the weekend, a savior emerged in the form of Jesus. Yes, that very same Jesus. And it's not the first time he's come to the rescue in recent months.
The Chosen Inc. released the first three episodes of "The Chosen" season 4 in theaters over the weekend in partnership with Fathom Events. It paid off: The target audience indeed showed up for the cinematic, episodic look at the life of Jesus Christ, with the release pulling in just shy of $6 million over the weekend. Miracles are rare in the 21st century, but watch pretty much any episode of The Chosen and they are bountiful. But the biggest miracle of all is perhaps the fact that a historical drama centered around Jesus of Nazareth (a warm and welcoming Jonathan Roumie), set in 1st century Galilee as He preaches, gains followers (and enemies) and, on occasion, raises the dead and walks on water, has built a passionate legion of faithful viewers. How did a crowdfunded production become a heavenly international sensation? The holy cards were stacked against The Chosen from the start. Faith-based television is historically hit-or-miss. The Academy Award-winning 1956 classic The Ten Commandments, which has aired on ABC nearly every Easter season since 1973, regularly reaps solid viewership. But in terms of scripted TV, for every spiritual success (think Highway to Heaven and Touched by an Angel), there are just as many failures (anyone remember ABC...

Growing up in St. Charles, Illinois, Dallas Jenkins was not the child who was restless while sitting in the pews of church during a long service or in a classroom learning about the Bible. In fact, he was invigorated by Scripture lessons. And the Evangelical Christian, who would end up creating spiritual megahit The Chosen, always asked lots of questions. Jenkins remembers seeing classic imagery of Jesus Christ while in classes, where the Son of God was dressed in immaculate white and blue robes on flannelgraph and picture books. “He was just a big, smiling guy, and all the disciples are these old, bearded dudes,” the 48-year-old recalls. “But I was the one in class [asking], ‘What would it be like playing cards against Jesus? He always knows what you have! What would it be like to play sports with Jesus or to sit around a campfire [with Him]?’” ...

Hallelujah! Season 4 of the crowdfunded Bible-based sensation The Chosen hit movie theaters on February 1 with the first three episodes of the latest exciting season for the beloved drama. Last month, TV Insider spoke to the cast and creator Dallas Jenkins in Los Angeles for the upcoming season’s premiere—and they gave us a lot of reasons to have faith for the latest episodes. But there’s really only one way to describe this fourth round of Jesus’ (Jonathan Roumie) journey: emotional. “This is our deepest season yet,” says Jenkins. “And it might be our saddest season yet because Jesus is sad.” Disaster after disaster will strike Jesus and His followers this season, but one death that will hit particularly close to home for the Nazareth native will be that of His cousin, John the Baptizer (David Amito). As the preacher who paved the way for Jesus and His teachings,...

Ask any of Jonathan Roumie’s costars in The Chosen what it’s like to work with the 49-year-old actor as he beautifully inhabits the complicated Jesus of Nazareth and there are no pauses or loss of words in their response. For example, Elizabeth Tabish, who plays devoted follower Mary Magdalene—the first person He heals onscreen—praises Roumie’s honesty and credibility. “There are moments where you catch yourself and [go], ‘Oh, it’s really Jesus,’” she says. Noah James (Apostle Andrew) notes, “Jonathan has set the standard for being a good castmate and partner.” Adds Amber Shana Williams (follower Tamar): “Not everyone is as kind as [their] character, but he really is.” Roumie, who was baptized Greek Orthodox but later converted to Roman Catholicism, doesn’t take representing the Son of God lightly. Here, he talks about lacing up the sandals and how doing the show changed his spirituality.

Amazon MGM Studios is getting spiritual.
The company announced Wednesday that it’s brokered a partnership with the recently formed Wonder Project, which bills itself as an independent studio designed to “develop series and films rooted in spirituality.” The latter is led by veteran producer Jon Erwin (Jesus Revolution) and former Netflix and YouTube exec Kelly Merryman Hoogstraten, and counts The Chosen creator Dallas Jenkins among its largest shareholders and special advisers. As part of the new pact, Prime Video has already ordered its first project, House of David, to series.
Per Amazon, the logline reads: “House of David follows the once-mighty King Saul as he falls victim to his own pride. A prophet prepares to overthrow him — anointing the outcast shepherd boy David as a second king. As Saul’s fury grows, David navigates love, violence and politics in the court of the very man he’s destined to replace.

(The series also films outside Dallas.) But...

Projects that are not being produced by a Hollywood studio that is a member of the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers may apply to sign an interim agreement that would allow production to continue and for SAG-AFTRA members to perform without being in violation of the strike order. More productions are expected to be approved in the coming weeks.
While past seasons have been licensed out to streaming services like Amazon Prime and Netflix, “The Chosen” gets its budget entirely from crowdfunding, as millions have contributed to the production starring Jonathan Roumie as Jesus of Nazareth. While the show is available to stream for free on Angel Studios’ own streaming platform, millions of fans have turned out to see special...

Exclusive: The Chosen creator Dallas Jenkins has said he is thankful that SAG-AFTRA has granted one of its first interim agreements to Season 4 of his hit faith drama, allowing it to continue filming despite the strike.
Jenkins told us today: “As an independent show with two weeks remaining to film our current season, we appreciate SAG’s recognition that not all productions are the same. We’ve agreed to all the terms of their current interim agreement.”
Texas and Utah-shot series The Chosen barely missed a beat, only having to shoot a day or two without cast before filming resumed today. The series includes multiple SAG actors including star Jonathan Roumie, who plays Jesus.
