Screenwest CEO Seph McKenna has departed the organisation just nine months into his five year term.
The reasons for McKenna’s departure are currently unclear, with Screenwest’s press statement simply saying: “Screenwest and Mr Seph McKenna have parted ways, effective immediately”.
Chair Janelle Marr said: “The board thanks Mr McKenna for his contribution to Screenwest during his time with the organisation, and wish him well for his next endeavours.”
The Screenwest board is commencing an immediate recruitment search to replace McKenna, with former board chair Peter Rowe to provide interim support. The organisation has advised that all funding rounds will continue as scheduled.

The Canadian Society of Cinematographers (Csc) is used “to promote the art and craft of cinematography and to provide tangible recognition of the common bonds that link film and video professionals, from the aspiring student and camera assistant to the news veteran and senior director of photography. Csc members are involved in the production of feature films, documentaries, television series, specials and commercials.” The Csc Awards will be handed out on April 2, 2011 at the Frontenac Ballroom, Westin Harbour Castle in Toronto. A few weeks ago I laid down some trashy truth about a secret slab of sick cinema that I’ve always held in high/low regard. That weird Canadian crapper, er, I mean creeper was called Splatter: Architects Of Fear. I also interviewed the man who was there, way back in 1986 in Toronto, blowing up bodies and cars, practical special effects helmer Ron Craig.
Well, I promised a sequel and here it is. Adventures In Canadian “Splatter”, Part Two…enjoy.
Outside of the endless gore, I recall Splatter having quite a bit of sex too…
There was, yes. As the production carried on, the producer’s decided that they wanted some T&A to spice it up so they actually hired some strippers. There’s one scene where this one girl had to bonk the brains out of this poor guy - that’s the reason they wanted the head...
