Alice Cooper has formally announced his new album, Road, out August 25th. In anticipation, he’s shared the lead single, “I’m Alice.”
As the album title implies, Cooper brought in his touring band to cut the new LP, injecting a concert-like energy to the recordings. For example, “I’m Alice” is a raucous number with fiery axework from lead guitarist Nita Strauss, and acts as a theme song of sorts: “I’m Alice – I’m the master of madness; the sultan of surprise!”
“For Road, I wanted the band to be involved in the foundation of all the songs,” said Cooper in a press release. “I only see these guys when we’re on the road. A Dallas record store’s efforts to reunite the original Alice Cooper Band after 40 years is the focus of the upcoming documentary/concert film Alice Cooper: Live From the Astroturf.
Cooper superfan and Good Records owner Chris Penn lobbied for Cooper and his former bandmates – Michael Bruce, Dennis Dunaway and Neal Smith alongside new guitarist Ryan Roxie (in the late Glen Buxton’s place) – to stage a (non-Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction) concert together for the first time since 1974, with the surprise reunion gig taking place in October 2015 at the Dallas record shop.

Like most boys their age, brothers Cj and Max Teas spend their days shuttling from middle school to baseball practice. But it's the end of the day when they work the hardest. The brothers rock out at least an hour a night in the family’s Charlotte, North Carolina, guest bedroom turned music studio, rehearsing with their band. They play to crowds at area restaurants and festivals, but don't earn a dime. The boys give away everything they make. Before moving to Charlotte two years ago, Cj, now 13, and Max, now 12, grew up in a town devastated by the 9/11 attacks.
