Exclusive: Names of programming executives impacted by Tuesday’s layoffs across Paramount Global’s CBS Studios and Paramount TV Studios are starting to emerge. As expected, all of them are on the Paramount TV Studios side, largely as a result of Paramount+’s scripted originals team being folded into that studio.
I hear the list includes former top current executive at Apple TV+ and Sony Pictures Television Kim Rozenfeld, who joined Ptvs in August as SVP Current Television. His exit stems from the restructuring; he was brought in for the role when the studio’s head of current, Cheryl Bosnak, added dual responsibilities as EVP and Head of Current for Paramount Television Studios and Paramount+.
As Paramount+ is phasing out its scripted original operation, with its studio suppliers taking charge of their development and series, Bosnak will now be focusing solely on her Ptvs portfolio, making the SVP position redundant.

Dan Harmon may be a jerk — but at least he’s not a defensive jerk. Yesterday, Krcw’s The Business aired a candid interview with Harmon. The segment goes a long way toward rehabilitating the difficult reputation Harmon earned this spring, when news of his feud with Chevy Chase and his subsequent ousting from Community made headlines.
After being asked point-blank about rumors that he’s difficult to work with, Harmon didn’t hesitate: “I think I started them,” he told Krcw. “I think I’m a self-effacing, self-destructive person, and I think that every speech I made to my...

Dan Harmon was ousted as Community's showrunner back in May, but in a new interview with Kcrw's The Business, he's still clearing up details of exactly what went down between him, NBC, and Sony. "I would have fired me too," he says. After NBC announced the shortened fourth season (which Harmon describes as the network "smother[ing] the show with a pillow"), "Sony’s job is to take that shot clock and do whatever they can with it," Harmon explains. "They’re not going to hand the ball to the guy that spent three years losing in the ratings race and not turning a script over until I felt it was finished."Harmon maintains that he wouldn't do anything differently, though, except maybe he would have "made a little more fun of the people I'll never work with again" — specifically anyone from Sony. More specifically, Kim Rozenfeld, who's the head...

Exclusive: Sony Pictures TV is rebuilding its current department with the hire of former ABC head of current Kim Rozenfeld as Evp current programming. Rozenfeld will oversee all on-air series for Sony, which had been without a head of current for more than a year, since 25-year Sony TV veteran Jeanie Bradley left in February 2010 as part of the company-wide layoffs at Sony Pictures Entertainment. The across-the-board cuts claimed about 450 jobs, including Bradley, VP current programming Debra Curtis and manager of current programming Rose Lee, leaving VP John Westphal as the only remaining member of Sony TV's current department. Westphal will now work under Rozenfeld. This marks Rozenfeld's return to the studio where he started his executive career as director of series development for Columbia TriStar TV. Rozenfeld most recently had a pod deal at ABC Studios, to which he segued after his position as Svp and head of current...

Previously: ABC mulls post-merger exec plan
ABC on Thursday unveiled its new executive structure following its January decision to combine ABC Entertainment and ABC Studios in one group under president Stephen McPherson.
Effective immediately, most divisions of the network and the studio -- including business affairs and business development, casting, program planning, scheduling and distribution -- will be merged.
On the creative side, ABC Entertainment and ABC Studios will keep separate teams, but the network's and the studio's comedy and drama departments will now handle both development and current series.
As a result of the consolidation, a number of positions, in the lower double digits, are being eliminated. They include vacant posts as well as layoffs of executives of vp level or lower.
The highest-level exec affected, ABC's senior vp current programming Kim Rozenfeld, is segueing into a pod deal with ABC Studios.

Kim Rozenfeld ABC's head of current programming Kim Rozenfeld is segueing into a pod deal with ABC Studios, returning to his roots as a producer.
The pact comes on the heels of the executive restructuring at ABC Entertainment Group, in which the current programming operations for ABC and ABC Studios were folded into the network and the studio's comedy and drama departments.
Rozenfeld, who served as senior vp current programming, overseeing both comedy and drama series for the network, will now develop and produce series as a nonwriting producer.
Rozenfeld joined ABC in 2005 as senior vp current drama. Before that, he was vp series development and programming at VH1.
Prior to that, he was an independent producer who developed and produced several series through his Half Full Entertainment banner, including "Two Guys and a Girl" and "American High."
Rozenfeld also served as vp comedy programs for ABC.

ABC Entertainment has hired two executives to oversee current programming at the network. Kim Rozenfeld, vp series development and programming at VH1, is stepping in as senior vp current drama. Kevin Plunkett, executive director of comedy development at Paramount Network Television, was named vp current comedy. They will split the duties previously overseen by senior vp current programming Lance Taylor, who stepped down from his post last month (HR 8/5). Execs under Rozenfeld and Plunkett will move into separate teams concentrating on either drama or comedy series; no such division was in place under Taylor. Rozenfeld and Plunkett report to Francie Calfo, executive vp development and current, who oversaw just ABC development but will add current to her responsibilities.
