- Karla Runkehl was born on November 7, 1930 in Stettin, Pomerania, Germany [now Szczecin, Zachodniopomorskie, Poland]. She was an actress, known for Genesung (1956), Nur eine Frau (1958) and Urlaub ohne Dich (1961). She died on December 24, 1986 in Kleinmachnow, German Democratic Republic.
- An intense, expressive leading actress, Runkehl was noted for her portrayals of uncomplicated working girls, who, in due course, mature into worldly and emancipated women. She had entered Defa's acting school as a seventeen-year old in 1948 and developed through the 1950's into one of East Germany's most popular and critically acclaimed actresses, eventually held up as a socialist role model.
