Victoria Justice, best known for her starring role on Nickelodeon’s “Victorious,” recently said on SiriusXM’s “Hits 1 LA with Tony Fly and Symon” while promoting her new single “Raw” that her upcoming role in the movie “Depravity” required her to film her first sex scene. The experience was “uncomfortable” but the crew pulled it off with “taste.”
“My first day on set I had my first ever sex scene. I’m like, ‘Really, guys? We’re gonna schedule this for the first day? Cool. Thanks for that,'” Justice said. “It is uncomfortable. I was actually very nervous about it and totally anxious about the entire situation, and I was like, ‘Did I make the wrong choice? I don’t know if I should do this.'”

After the March 28 friends, family, and industry screening for Francis Ford Coppola’s “Megalopolis” at Universal’s CityWalk AMC in IMAX, reactions were wild. Some said it was his most ambitious film since “Apocalypse Now;” another described it to Puck as “batshit crazy.” Made for $120 million and bankrolled entirely by Coppola through the sale of one of his vineyards, it incorporates new VFX techniques — ones, the filmmakers hope, will be seen on the biggest screens possible.
For that to happen, it will need a major theatrical deal and the filmmakers are now in talks with distributors and major studios. However, those entities have been particularly risk averse these days — and while Coppola is a legend, he hasn’t made a commercial success in three decades.
The film’s stars include Adam Driver, Aubrey Plaza, and Giancarlo Esposito; maybe, say, Paramount or Universal want to be back in the Coppola business.

David O. Russell doesn’t have a perfect track record when it comes to dealing with people, and he certainly isn’t known as a people pleaser. Over the years, many Hollywood actors have spoken out about their experiences with the director, and George Clooney is no exception. When the two worked together on Three Kings, Clooney described the experience as “truly, without exception, the worst experience of my life.” Here’s why.

In Hollywood, the film industry is no stranger to projects experiencing setbacks, delays, or outright cancellations at various stages of production. However, some of the most heartbreaking examples are those movies that have been fully completed yet never see the light of day, effectively shelved for years and sometimes indefinitely. These films may be victims of studio interference, financial disputes, legal issues, or changing audience tastes. Despite being finished, they remain locked away in a vault, unseen by the public. Occasionally, against all odds, these lost films resurface and are finally released to the world, such as David O. Russell‘s...

Christopher Nolan has been the recent recipient of the Oscar for Best Director and Best Picture for last year’s war biopic Oppenheimer. The film had a dream run during awards season this year, winning the top awards at the ceremony. However, this was Nolan’s second nomination as a director, with his first coming a few years ago for the war drama Dunkirk.
The World War II drama about the evacuation of British soldiers from Dunkirk Beach lost the Best Director Award to Guillermo Del Toro, who won for Shape of Water. Back then, Nolan had reportedly been hopeless about the ceremony and blamed Harvey Weinstein’s aggressive Oscar campaign for Shakespeare in Love for ruining the Oscars.

In early 2021, Megan Ellison emerged from a self-imposed Hollywood exile and did something she hadn’t done in over a year: She signed on to back a movie, Nimona. There was a time when this would not have been remarkable, when Ellison’s Annapurna Pictures was producing five films a year and she was considered the industry’s own Medici, the premier patron of prestige cinema. But Ellison had backed away from Hollywood in 2019 after a series of missteps and become elusive even to some of her own executives. When her former distribution chief, Erik Lomis, asked her whether she wanted to look at some reels of Nimona, which was about to get axed in Disney’s closure of Blue Sky Animation, “I wasn’t really engaging in new film projects at the time,” Ellison said, answering THR’s questions by email. “But being curious, I said yes.”

Christian Bale is known for completely morphing his body to better fit the characters he plays. But there was one feature where Bale’s commitment led to serious injury, which prompted the director to step in.

Bale is no stranger to losing and gaining weight for film roles. One of his most dramatic transformations happened in the David O. Russell movie American Hustle. The 2013 feature saw him playing Irving Rosenfeld, who was inspired by real-life conman Melvin Weinberg. Bale had to achieve a very heavy-set look for the role, which required him to eat anything that he could get his hands on.
“I ate lots of doughnuts, a whole lot of cheeseburgers and whatever I could get my hands on. I literally ate anything that came my way,” Bale told People in 2013. “I was about 185 and went up...

Selena Gomez is back with a new single, “Love On,” her first release of 2024.
Opening with a dreamy chord progression and fuzzy samples of spoken French, “Love On” bursts open as a feel-good track “inspired by all the time Selena spent in Paris last year,” according to its press release. Musically, the song embraces the disco revival sound employed by Gomez’s peers like Dua Lipa and Miley Cyrus, placing vocal hooks over a steady beat colored by a funky bassline.
The single also arrives with a music video by French director Greg Ohrel, depicting Gomez have a relaxing, romantic time in a beautiful seaside setting. With lovers embracing all around, Gomez dons a handful of fun outfits and dances alongside a crew of ballerinas. Watch the video below.
“Love On” is Gomez’s first release since last year’s “Single Soon,” a track produced by benny blanco and Cashmere Cat.

“Shit, I’ve been around, dude,” cracked Bradley Cooper on Thursday night after he watched a montage of his 25 years of screen work with a capacity crowd inside Santa Barbara’s historic 2000-seat Arlington Theatre en route to collecting the Santa Barbara International Film Festival’s Outstanding Performer of the Year Award.
The 49-year-old — who is currently Oscar-nominated for producing, co-writing and acting in Maestro, a film that he also directed for Netflix about the complicated marriage of Leonard Bernstein, played by Cooper, and Felicia Montealegre Bernstein, played by Carey Mulligan — was feted by Mulligan and, in a surprise appearance, by his friend Brad Pitt. Pitt declared, “For me, Maestro is a masterwork,” adding, “Yes, it takes great actors, but it also takes great construction. And I’m telling you, not since [Robert] Redford have I seen anyone do it so well.”

It's been almost 50 years since "Rocky" first arrived in 1976, and in that time the franchise has changed dramatically. The "Rocky" saga has now grown beyond original star Sylvester Stallone, with Michael B. Jordan's "Creed III" barely mentioning the man who birthed the now legendary film series. Whatever you think about that, everyone can surely recognize the staying power of the "Rocky" movies, which have formed part of our pop cultural history for the better part of a half century.
None of this could have happened without the first entry in the saga, of course. "Rocky" introduced the world to the scrappy Southpaw from South Philly, who led a film that was remarkable for its realism and affecting performances. Much of that was down to Stallone who, having written the script during a particularly challenging time in his personal life, insisted on starring in the film, only to wow audiences...

Christian Bale is thought by many to have become an “actor’s actor.” He is fully committed to his characters, often staying in character during shooting, and he is not afraid to lose or gain weight in order to make a character more believable, as was the case with his Oscar-nominated role as former U.S. Vice-President Dick Cheney in “Vice.”
Good reviews are something that Bale has gotten used to during his three-decade film career, beginning with his starring role in Steven Spielberg‘s “Empire of the Sun” when he was only 13 years old. In that time, Bale has been nominated for three Oscars (winning one for “The Fighter” with bids for “American Hustle” and “The Big Short”), three Golden Globes and five Screen Actors Guild Awards nominations of which he won two (for “The Fighter” and “American Hustle”). His 2022 films included “Amsterdam” for David O. Russell and “The Pale Blue Eye...

Jack Huston has worked with Scorsese, Ridley Scott, David O’ Russell, The Coens, had meaty roles on series like Mayfair Witches, Fargo, and, maybe most notably, Boardwalk Empire, where he played Richard Harrow. His latest project is Lulu Wang’s Amazon series Expats. On this episode he talks about gaining 30 pounds for that part (which wasn’t as much fun as it sounds), why it all starts with the voice for him, writing and directing his passion project The Day of The Fight for Michael Pitt and Joe Pesci, and he reveals a common trait of all great directors he’s known. While it’s unlikely we’ll ever see a reunion between one of the greatest creative partnerships of the century thus far––that of director Terrence Malick and cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki––a new short has arrived that hits the sweet spot of feeling like it could’ve been borne from it. Lubezki has teamed with conservation photographers Cristina Mittermeier and Paul Nicklen for a new West Australia-shot film testing out Sony’s new digital cinema camera, the Burano, capturing the planet and our ocean.
“Our planet is in real trouble, but we still have time. We must work together to prevent the loss of amazing species, like the Southern Right Whale,” says Mittermeier, a marine biologist and National Geographic explorer. “The Southern Right Whale is an endangered species, hunted to near extinction in the 19th century. Now, barely beginning to recover, this species faces a new threat: the changing ocean.

There is a video of a young Bradley Cooper asking a deeply thoughtful question to Robert De Niro about his process for the film “Awakenings.” He was among those studying at The Actors Studio Drama School who were the audience for “Inside The Actors Studio” hosted by the late James Lipton. Bradley would guest on the show in 2011.
Through the 2000s, Cooper had great stints in television with a lead role on the Fox sitcom “Kitchen Confidential” which was cancelled after one season and a regular role in J.J. Abram’s “Alias.” It wasn’t until 2009’s “The Hangover” that he got his big break. Todd Philip’s chaotic buddy comedy was a box office smash, making just shy of $500 million worldwide on a $35 million budget. It even won the Golden Globe for Best Comedy in 2011. This spawned two successful sequels that took the box office total for the trilogy to nearly 1.5 billion dollars.

When Oscar-winning cinematographer Linus Sandgren first sat down with director Emerald Fennell to discuss the look of her latest film, “Saltburn,” a lot of things immediately came to mind, primarily Gothic literature and silent film.
“Saltburn,” the follow-up to Fennell’s 202 debut feature “Promising Young Woman,” follows a young man (played by Barry Keoghan) who spends a holiday with a wealthy friend from school. His desperate obsession to fit in with the family leads him down dangerous and, ultimately, deadly roads.
“I asked Emerald for words to describe the film and she said ‘vampire,'” Sandgren told TheWrap. “She [also] said, ‘hair,’ ‘sweat,’ details like that. There were all kinds of words that got us into quickly thinking it’ll be interesting if we thought of it like a vampire movie, even though it’s not real vampires, but it’s in a similar vein.”

Robert De Niro has been working in Hollywood for almost six decades now, with eight Oscar nominations to his name and two wins. His most noted collaboration has been with director Martin Scorsese, with whom he has done 10 films, including their latest partnership on “Killers of the Flower Moon,” which was released October 20 through Apple Original Films. In celebration of the western crime epic, let’s take a look back at De Niro’s eight Oscar nominations in 45 years; seven for acting and one for producing.
His first Oscar nomination and victory came on the heels of Francis Ford Coppola’s epic crime film “The Godfather” with the equally successful second installment “The Godfather Part II” (1974), in which De Niro plays a young Vito Corleone, played by Oscar winner Marlon Brando in the first movie. Just like Brando, De Niro triumphed at the 1975 Oscars for the character, albeit in the...

Bradley Cooper may have only directed two films, but he already knows how to exact his “vision” as a filmmaker.
The “Maestro” helmer revealed during Variety’s Directors on Directors in discussion with auteur Spike Lee that he does not allow chairs on the set of his films. Cooper directed “A Star Is Born” and “Maestro” to date, with the actor spending six years crafting Leonard Bernstein ode “Maestro” on which he served as co-writer, director, producer, and lead star.
“I spent 20 years acting in movies. I was lucky enough that I had filmmakers who recognized that I don’t think like an actor — that I actually think in terms of the whole story. They were generous enough to allow me to come with them on their journey,” Cooper said. “I was in one role for so many years, [but in fact] I was a sort of quarterback, really getting to know the plays and reading defense.
