- In August 1916, Sablon (Bourgeois) fled Hollywood after Los Angeles authorities issued an arrest warrant for defrauding investors and contractors with his 'iceless ice' invention. At the Palace Ice Rink on South Broadway, Sablon led investors to believe his ice was inexpensive and wouldn't melt, but he absconded with their money.
