Neon and Waypoint have struck a strategic financial partnership to collaborate on a theatrical slate of “bold, genre-spanning”larger independent features.

Neon has formed a strategic financial partnership with Ken Kao’s Waypoint Entertainment, the full-service production company behind The Favourite and The Nice Guys, to deliver a slate “of bold, genre-spanning films for savvy theatrical audiences,” the distributor said. The partners will focus on larger indies in the $10+ million range.
Neon said the investment will expand its production and distribution arms. A non-exclusive venture, it comes after Neon and Waypoint’s recent collaboration on Tilman Singer’s Cuckoo starring Hunter Schafer and Dan Stevens, which debuted in the U.S. at SXSW following its world premiere in Berlin last month. Neon will release Cuckoo in theaters this spring.
There were no details of Waypoint’s financial commitment or the number of films contemplated. Neon, led by Tom Quinn, said further details on the slate will be announced in the near future.

Neon, the studio that backed Oscar-winners “Anatomy of a Fall” and “Parasite,” has ironed out a deal with Waypoint Entertainment, the production company behind “The Favourite” and “The Nice Guys,” to bring more mid-budget movies to the big screen.
The deal follows the company’s collaboration on the Hunter Schafer-led horror movie “Cuckoo,” which premiered at the Berlin Film Festival and SXSW. Waypoint’s investment will allow Neon to expand its production and distribution efforts, something it’s been attempting to do since the New York-based distributor explored a sale in 2022 as a way to grow its business. Though a deal with investor Steven Rales, the wealthy businessman who founded the production company Indian Paintbrush, never came to fruition, Neon has managed to bolster its footprint. It recently launched an international sales division to handle the global distribution of its films.

A lot of TV show theme songs become famous without ever becoming hit singles. However, these classic rock TV theme songs are the exception to the rule. Notably, one of the songs in question was supposed to sound like The Lovin’ Spoonful.
Batman and Robin | Silver Screen Collection / Contributor 4. ‘Welcome Back’ from ‘Welcome Back Kotter’
According to Stereogum, TV producer Alan Sacks created the premise of the show Welcome Back, Kotter. He decided the theme song for the show should sound like The Lovin’ Spoonful, enlisting The Lovin’ Spoonful’s John Sebastian to write a song for the series.
Sebastian wanted to write a song called “Kotter” but this proved impossible, as the only word that rhymes with “Kotter” is “otter.” Sebastian wrote a tune called “Welcome Back” that stuck with the show. In addition, “Welcome Back” became a No. 1 single on the Billboard Hot 100. The track became Sebastian’s...

When you think of the average eighth-grader from East Flatbush, Brooklyn, you probably aren't thinking of Unlocking the Truth. And that's to their advantage. The three boys - guitarist Malcolm Brickhouse, 13; bassist Alec Atkins, 13; and drummer Jarad Dawkins, 12 - play heavy metal, a genre choice that places them at odds with their peers, though it's working to their advantage: The group just signed a record contract with Sony that's potentially worth up to $1.7 million. The group's profile grew steadily over the past year: A video of them busking in Manhattan (their music decidedly against the grain of typical street musicians) went viral,...

Spending his 17th birthday on Wednesday, September 16 working on "Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam", Nick Jonas received a Kettler ping-pong table from the film's crew and cast. "Nick is a sports fanatic and what he loves to do on tour besides Wiffle Ball, and softball is ping-pong," said the film's producer Alan Sacks of the present. "He's a ping-pong whiz!"
Nick's family, meanwhile, got him a piano, on which he wrote song about his diagnosis with diabetes. The piano was originally located at a hotel in Halliburton, Ontario, where the Jonas Brothers filmed "Camp Rock".
"It's actually the piano I wrote 'A Little Bit Longer' on. It's definitely got a special meaning for me," the birthday boy revealed to People. "I originally wanted to get a plaque just to put on the piano when I got there saying that I wrote the song on, but the family just decided to get it for me.

Nick Jonas has turned 17 on Wednesday, September 16. Since he is busy filming "Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam", the singer/actor had to celebrate his birthday on the set of the upcoming movie. When his entire family, including his youngest brother Frankie Jonas, gathered on the film's set, they were joined by the cast and crew to sing "Happy Birthday" and present him with a light blue vanilla cake with cream filling.
Asked about how he feels to be 17 years old, Nick told People, "It's exciting. I feel 24 hours different than when I was 16." As for his tight schedule that forced him to celebrate his special day with simple bash, the younger brother of Kevin Jonas and Joe Jonas claimed, "I tend to keep things low key for my birthdays in general." He then added, "It's so much attention that it can be a bit overwhelming. But it's nice when people do things to celebrate.
