- Sebastião Salgado was born on February 8, 1944 in Aimorés, Minas Gerais, Brazil. He is a cinematographer, known for The Salt of the Earth (2014), A Grande Arte (1991) and En busca de la felicidad (1998).
- In April 2001, the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) named Salgado, an internationally renowned Brazilian photographer, as its 'special representative'. The nomination came at the opening of Salgado's photo exhibition titled "Migrations", the result of a seven-year project depicting the global displacement of people, especially of children.
- He was one of the few photographers that made the photos of the American President Ronald Reagan suffering an attempt of his life.(1981/03/30).
