Creator Mike Flanagan’s latest and final series collaboration with Netflix, “The Fall of the House of Usher,” takes on the works of Edgar Allan Poe. Much like “The Haunting of Bly Manor,” Flanagan’s latest uses a classic short story as the central narrative framework to remix a variety of Poe’s macabre poems and short stories but with Flanagan’s signature pathos. Unlike previous Netflix series, “The Fall of the House of Usher” eschews the familiar melancholy and dials up the gallows humor for a twisted tale that’s unafraid to get grisly.
In the process, however, it’s less effective at organically adapting Poe.
Like the source story, “The Fall of the House of Usher” begins with Auguste Dupin (Carl Lumbly) called to a crumbling estate for a final meeting with the deteriorating Roderick Usher (Bruce Greenwood). With time drawing to a close and haunted by horrific...

The ABC drama Lost kept fans and critics hooked for six seasons. It wasn’t always positive. Not everyone was satisfied with the show’s answers to its own mysteries, but they kept watching to the end and many were. One development that did not go over well was the characters of Nikki and Paolo.

On March 28, 2007, Lost listened to fans and killed off Nikki and Paolo. Ironically, “Expose” turned out to be the best Nikki and Paolo episode. Here’s what happened:
The introduction of Nikki and Paolo on ‘Lost’
Lost was about the survivors of a plane crash on a mysterious island. The plane already included a large ensemble cast of survivors. Each week, Lost would focus on a different character and flash back to their lives before the island, informing some of the action on the island.

On Gilmore Girls, Tricia O’Kelley played Nicole Leahy, Luke (Scott Patterson)’s season 3 love interest. Obviously, Luke and Nicole were not meant to be. Luke and Lorelai (Lauren Graham) were the long term romance of the show. But, while it lasted, Nicole had red hair. O’Kelley reveals this was entirely due to a show she was on prior to Gilmore Girls that got canceled.
Tricia O’Kelley | Frazer Harrison/Getty Images
O’Kelley was a guest on Patterson’s I Am All In podcast on July 13. They reminisced about their Gilmore Girls scenes. She explained how Nicole’s red hair came from her previous show, That Was Then. It lasted another year while she was on Gilmore Girls.
The canceled show that made Tricia O’Kelley dye her hair red
That Was Then was one of two time travel shows to premiere in the 2002 season. Neither that nor Do Over lasted an entire season.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for the Criminal Minds: Evolution Season 16 finale “Dead End.”] One case closes (sort of), another opens in the Criminal Minds: Evolution Season 16 finale. Rossi (Joe Mantegna) helps to save himself, with the Bau finding him after taking Elias Voit/Sicarius (Zach Gilford) into custody and having his wife Sydney (Kiele Sanchez) talk him into giving up the location. But before they got Voit, he shot Bailey (Nicholas D’Agosto), who insisted upon being the one to try to negotiate after the serial killer used the phrase “Gold Star.” Whatever that is, it has Rebecca (Nicole Pacent) telling the Attorney General (Monnae Michaell) her legal and extralegal options: let him go (the safest way to keep the matter contained) or an implied order of terminate with extreme prejudice (with the likely deaths of Rossi and Voit’s family unavoidable collateral damage). When Lewis (Aisha Tyler) questions ex-girlfriend Rebecca about Gold Star, all she can tell ...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Criminal Minds: Evolution Season 16 Episode 9 “Memento Mori.”] If you thought the cliffhanger of the midseason finale of Criminal Minds: Evolution was cruel, then the one for the penultimate episode is the equivalent of the UnSub who gave his victims the choice between paralysis and death. Picking up where “Forget Me Knots” left off, Rossi (Joe Mantegna) shows Elias Voit’s (Zach Gilford) wife, Sydney (Kiele Sanchez), the hardware store photo. Voit then calls her, having gotten an alert on his phone that someone’s at their house, and she asks about the photo. When he hears Rossi’s name, he remembers reading his book, Deviance (as seen in his flashbacks), and spins a tail about quitting his job because he discovered something that could get them in trouble. Sydney follows his instructions to get Rossi out, and the profiler leaves, but not before telling her he has questions for her husband.

Is Criminal Minds: Evolution Season 1 Episode 9 the first time Criminal Minds has been without a quote?
Elias said, "The Latin phrase Memento Mori translates to 'Remember that you must die.' Roman slaves whispered it to their generals to keep them from being consumed by hubris." That's as close as we got to a quote this week.
It fit the episode perfectly.
If they hadn't started the episode with that reflection of hubris, it would have been difficult to stomach the good guys' mistakes, which led to Rossi in a bunker and Tyler getting shot.
Those two men went above and beyond hubris in their quest to prove something to themselves.
As expected, Rossi's meet-n-greet with Sydney Voit was bountiful.
Sydney didn't have to lie about whether the man at the hardware store was her husband. She was so thrown that she just wanted to know where it was.
But before we get into that,...

Zach Gilford is messing with our heads! After we met the Criminal Minds: Evolution monster dubbed Sicarius, the end of Episode 2 revealed Elias Voit to be a family man in a sunny Seattle home. In Episode 3, “Moose,” Gilford’s Elias got even darker. And things are only getting more confounding from here as the series juxtaposes Elias’s dark deeds with his home life. Fans know Gilford as the sweet Matt Saracen from Friday Night Lights. His transformation into an insidious villain is certainly showing an unseen side of the star. Here, the actor shares the joy of being bad. You finally get to go dark! Zach Gilford: I feel like Midnight Mass got me this part. Everyone always thought of me as [Friday Night Lights’] Matt Saracen, the nice guy who does no wrong, and my Mass character was flawed and morose ...

We have to go back, /Film readers! Back to the Island filled with research stations, smoke monsters, birds that shout "Hurley!," eerie whispers, and mystical electromagnetic fields that heal paralysis. Although "Lost" premiered almost two decades ago, it left a lasting impact on television -- inspiring a plethora of mystery shows, including everything from ABC's "Flashforward" and Epix's "From." The ABC show fueled the audience's appetite for serialized and mystery-forward storytelling. Additionally, "Lost" launched the careers of many people involved -- not least of all "Watchmen" showrunner Damon Lindelof.
Looking back at "Lost," it's incredible to track where the show began and how its twists forever altered characters' fates. While the series occasionally meandered -- frustrating viewers with more questions than answers -- its characters were the show's beating heart. Let's take a trip down memory lane to revisit some old friends. Crank Petula Clark's "Downtown," climb on...

When Matthew McConaughey decided that he was no longer going to be the shirtless face of the rom-com genre and would reinvent himself as a critically acclaimed dramatic actor, The Lincoln Lawyer was the first step towards a full-blown McConaissance. Brad Furman’s glossy adaptation of Michael Connelly’s novel was the ideal vehicle for McConaughey to balance his acting chops with his undeniable star power, and the legal thriller pulled in solid reviews, along with decent box office business.
The potential for sequels was definitely there, but instead The Lincoln Lawyer was set up almost a decade later at CBS as a TV series, with small screen veteran David E. The CW’s take on The Lost Boys appears to be cursed. The show is intended to be a contemporary TV reboot of the classic 1987 movie, giving us sexy young vampires looking dead cool, having sexy blood-sucking times and floating extremely creepily in a pretty resort town. What could go wrong? Well, quite a lot, as it turns out.
The show had recently begun shooting a pilot episode, only for the Covid-19 pandemic to shut the production down. But material was filmed and The CW executives have now had an opportunity to review the footage, and it seems they’re not particularly enthused with what they’ve seen.

The series is being helmed by Heather Mitchell and Rob Thomas, who share an impressive resume that includes Scandal, Veronica Mars and iZombie. And now, Deadline is reporting that Branden Cook (Industry), Lincoln Younes (Grand Hotel) and Ruby Cruz (Castle Rock) have been cast as the show’s leads.
Branden Cook will play the main character, Garrett. He’s the oldest brother in the family that’s moved to the seaside town, and the one who’s slowly drawn into its vampiric subculture. Lincoln Younes is taking over the Kiefer Sutherland character Benjamin, presenting a seductive image of freedom and immortal youth.

The CW is officially taking another stab at The Lost Boys, handing a fresh pilot order to Rob Thomas’ long-gestating series adaptation of the cult 1987 vampire flick. Last May, the network — after passing on Thomas and fellow Ep Heather Mitchell’s initial pilot starring Tyler Posey and Kiele Sanchez — announced that the project would be redeveloped. In addition to a new script (from Thomas and Mitchell), Pilot No. 2 will feature an entirely new cast and a new director in Marcos Siega (The Vampire Diaries).

The CW is turning to two familiar faces to round out its pilot slate.
The network has handed out formal orders to Rob Thomas' Lost Boys and a presidential family drama from Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage as the broadcaster's pilot slate grows to eight for the 2020-21 broadcast season.

Derek Waters loves TV history — so much so that he even keeps a collection of old TV Guide magazines at home. As the co-creator and host of Comedy Central’s Emmy-nominated “Drunk History,” it’s perhaps no surprise that Waters reveres classic TV — particularly from his childhood era of the 1980s.
But here’s where he draws the line at nostalgia: Reboots and remakes.
“I hope some day, I’m alive to see some sort of law passed where something, be it ‘The Wizard of Oz,’ once a show or movie [has been given] some sort of accolade, it can be shut,” Waters told Variety‘s “My Favorite Episode” podcast. “You’re not allowed to touch this. Leave it alone.”
Waters’ suggestion: Just re-release a DVD of the original instead. “Don’t change it,” he added. “I’m trying to think of one thing where I’m so glad they rebooted that, and...

Two weeks ago, it was all change for The CW and its TV revival of The Lost Boys.
Despite drafting together an exciting ensemble cast for the planned pilot, and shooting said pilot episode in May of this year, the Powers That Be ordered The Lost Boys back to the drawing board soon after the first test footage emerged. Put simply, The CW’s top brass were impressed with the script, but believed the execution was lacking.
And so began a total overhaul, after it was announced that the network would recast its Lost Boys revival, sparing just two actors: Medalion Rahimi and Dakota Shapiro. The former is attached to the part of Stella (essentially an updated version of the Star character from ’87), while Shapiro is David.
But rest assured, as Rob Thomas tells EW, The Lost Boys reboot is nearing the warm light of day.

Just when you thought The CW’s TV reboot of The Lost Boys was gaining some momentum, Deadline brings word that the project has effectively been sent back to the drawing board – recasting all but two roles.
Of the ensemble that was in place for The Lost Boys, only two – namely Medalion Rahimi and Dakota Shapiro – remain. The former is attached to the part of Stella (essentially an updated version of the Star character from ’87), while Shapiro is David.
According to Deadline, together they’ll headline the “new, reworked pilot, which will likely film by the end of the year.” So, while they initially signed on for The CW’s pilot episode, the likes of Rio Mangini (Sam) Sarah Hay, Del Zamora, Cheyenne Haynes, Haley Tju, Tyler Posey and Kiele Sanchez won’t be heading to the vampire underworld, after all.
It’s a pity, really, but given the fact...

The CW series adaptation of The Lost Boys has cast two more actors. Rio Mangini (Everything Sucks) is set to take on the lead role of Sam, Michael’s younger brother, who is being played by Tyler Posey. His “high level of literacy is matched by an equally high level of snark. He seems to be the only one not enchanted by Santa Carla — a sentiment he shares with a pair of local girls, the Frog Sisters.”
Then there’s Del Zamora (Mayans Mc), who will play Frank Garcia, Lucy’s father, “a cantankerous old hippie who owns a beloved local bed and breakfast. In spite of his laid-back appearance, he’s a strict disciplinarian who probably knows more about the dark side of town than he cares to tell.”

Casting on The Lost Boys TV show is really beginning to heat up – and fast.
Earlier this month, for instance, we brought you the news that The CW had cast Sarah Hay, Cheyanne Haynes and Haley Tju as the infamous Frog Sisters, who now join an ensemble cast comprised of Teen Wolf star Tyler Posey, Kiele Sanchez, Medalion Rahimi (Still Star-Crossed) and Dakota Shapiro. Not bad, right?
But that’s not all: Per Deadline, it’s been confirmed that Del Zamora (Mayans Mc) and Rio Mangini (Everything Sucks!) have also climbed aboard The Lost Boys as series regulars, with the latter star poised to step into the shoes left vacant by the late, great Corey Haim. Yes, that’s right; he’ll be playing Sam Emerson in The CW’s pilot episode – itself based on the 1987 movie of the same name – though no further details on Mangini’s character were revealed at the time.

"Sleep all day. Party all night. Never grow old. Never die. It's fun to be a vampire." We’ve got some interesting news today for The CW reboot series, The Lost Boys. A few new cast members have been announced that include Sarah Hay as Mollie, with Cheyenne Haynes (Camping) and Haley Tju (Bella and the Bulldogs) as the Frog sisters. Yes, they changed the beloved Frog brother characters (played by Corey Feldman and Jamison Newlander in the original) to female characters, because nothing is sacred.
I’ve pretty much come to terms with the fact that this reboot series is going to be nothing like the original movie, because although the story was cheesy, the actors in the movie were really good, and it was an original idea, so you were excited by the story. It just doesn’t really need a regurgitation, in my opinion. But I bet it will be popular because the WB draws in a large teenage audience, and vampires. Vampires help.

Joel Schumacher’s 1987 teen vampire horror The Lost Boys is an underrated gem. Sure, most of its awesomeness is down to a hugely charismatic young Kiefer Sutherland as the lead vampire, but that’s a casting that goes a seriously long way. It seems like someone at The CW’s as big a fan as I am, too, because they’re currently putting together the cast for a pilot that should herald a full-blooded Lost Boys TV show.
Already, we’ve heard of some exciting additions to the project and today, Deadline’s reporting that Flesh and Bone‘s Sarah Hay, Camping‘s Cheyanne Haynes and Bella and the Bulldogs’ Haley Tju are joining the roster, which so far includes former Teen Wolf star Tyler Posey and Kingdom alum Kiele Sanchez, with Medalion Rahimi (Still Star-Crossed) and Dakota Shapiro (Valley of the Boom) also having key roles. The CW, a network that currently has its hands full with its extensive superhero slate, is looking to branch farther out into bloodsucker territory, as a small screen reboot of The Lost Boys is on the way. Before you dab your brow in anticipation of a “why are they rebooting my favorite movie Ever?!” rant though, just wait, as plans for the show actually aren’t as dour as they might seem.
For one, we know that former Teen Wolf star Tyler Posey and Kingdom alum Kiele Sanchez will be headlining the project, while Medalion Rahimi (Still Star-Crossed) and Dakota Shapiro (Valley of the Boom) will also have major roles in the series. Not only that, but Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke will be getting behind the camera for the pilot and the script was penned by scribe Heather Mitchell, whose draft apparently got “everyone excited” and eager to pump new blood into the long-dormant franchise.
