Norman Lear will reunite with the surviving cast members of the original One Day At A Time – Valerie Bertinelli, Mackenzie Phillips, Michael Lembeck and Glenn Scarpelli – to support The Actors Fund.
The One Day gang, along with producer Patricia Fass Palmer, will be live-from-home guests on this Thursday’s episode of Stars in the House, the YouTube series hosted by Seth Rudetsky and James Wesley.
In April, Lear appeared on Stars in the House with the cast of Pop TV’s One Day re-do with cast members Rita Moreno, Justina Machado, Todd Grinnell, Isabella Gomez, Marcel Ruiz and Stephen Tobolowsky.
The original One Day At A Time aired on CBS from 1975-1984, becoming one of Lear’s powerhouse ’70s sitcoms along with All in the Family, Good Times, The Jeffersons and Maude. The series starred the late Bonnie Franklin as the divorced Ann Romano, single mother of teenage daughters Julie...

Today we say goodbye to Bonnie Franklin, the Tony-nominated star of Applause who went on to thrill us for nine years as divorced mother Ann Romano on the kickass series One Day at a Time. Franklin died at 69 of pancreatic cancer.
To this day, the Romanos must be the most gorgeous family ever to live in Indianapolis, but they wouldn't know it because they were too busy suffering at the hands of Schneider and his innuendos about Ms. Romano's radiator. You know a show is great when you can't decide whether its greatest featured actor is Shelley Fabares or Nanette Fabray.
In honor of Ms. Franklin's amazing sitcom (produced by Norman Lear), I ask you: What's Franklin's greatest One Day at a Time episode?
I actually Love Bonnie's last episode on the series, but I'm taking us back to her most quintessential type of moment: telling Julie (Mackenzie Phillips) and...

One Day at a Time matriarch Bonnie Franklin died Friday following a battle with pancreatic cancer, which she was diagnosed with in September, The Associated Press reports. She was 69.
Since ending her nine-season run as divorcée/single mom Ann Romano on CBS’ groundbreaking One Day at a Time, Franklin guested on series such as Touched By an Angel, Hot in Cleveland and, most recently, The Young and the Restless.
Her pre-One Day credits included appearances on The Man from U.N.C.L.E., The Munsters and Please Don’t Eat the Daisies.

I was thinking about The Carrie Diaries, and a bizarre truth hit me: It's a great idea for a show! Though Sex and the City ran six seasons, inspecting Carrie Bradshaw's teenage history through whatever overly glamorized or cutesy lens is intriguing. All these years after the HBO hit left the air, Carrie is a beloved and somehow relevant protagonist that everyone has an opinion about. I salute The Carrie Diaries for exploring her deep past. Moreover, I hope it inspires TV networks to mine the potentially fertile backstories of these five other classic TV shows, which range from the broadly comic to the grimly serious.

Lisa Whelchel, it's been real, but your stint on Survivor: Philippines is already disappointing. You've brought none of Blair Warner's flair to the proceedings, and you prove your Survivor cred is lacking with quotes like, "I can only play with the cards I've been given!" Guess who doesn't leave their fate up to the "cards" dealt by other players? People like Parvati Shallow. Russell Hantz. You know, Survivor super-champs.
Thus, it's time to think about which sitcom legends should join Survivor next. I love seeing TV stars of yore regain screentime, so this is a perfect opportunity to highlight other greats who 1) could slip by without the other contestants recognizing them, 2) are cooler than the anti-gay Whelchel, and 3) would be, uh, interesting. Here are our seven best options.
1. Dawn Wells (Gilligan's Island)
This is my most controversial choice because Wells is both 73 and still very recognizable, but come On. Her...

They should have let Jo Calderone host the 2011 Video Music Awards. After all, it was only when Joe/Aka Lady Gaga was on stage that the show actually worked - outside the actual performances that is, which were mostly pretty great.

But whether it was Nicki Minaj and Jonah Hill attempting to be funny, Britney Spears doing nothing to alleviate her reputation for oddness, or a dreadful Beastie Boys from the future intro, everything that wasn't singing was mostly flat out bad.
On one hand, the show, which didn't have a host outside of Kevin Hart trying to do some comedy, relied on the talents of folks who are singers and not actors. On the other hand, they are supposed to be performers and a little stage patter shouldn't be beyond their abilities, all evidence to the contrary.
