Even though he was dying of lymphoma his last act was supervising
construction of the Paris Disneyland's (now EuroDisney) full-sized
Nautilus. As the world's biggest 20,000 Leagues fan and model builder
of more model Nautilus's than you can shake a stick at (for exhibition
at Disneyland, etc.) this was certainly fitting. He was also
responsible for introducing noted science fiction author Ray Bradbury
to Disney and an ongoing relationship ensued thereafter between
Bradbury and Disney. Tom also worked for many years at WED - the Disney
parks maintenance company (WED stands for Walter Elias Disney). He was
a wonderful miniature maker who could create imaginary visions out of
cheap foam core, cardboard, balsa wood and hot melt glue.
