Francene Selkirk-Ackerman has been a Commercial Casting Director for 15
years, a Commercial Producer for 10 years and an actress throughout. In
the last 5 years she has been casting half-hour Television
Improvisational Comedies for Bravo, Fox, Oxygen and NBC while also
casting a bazillion commercials.
Francene loves acting, actors, the theatre and all aspects of Show
Business. She was raised by two kooky parents in Astoria, Queens. With
the blood from a Ukelele playing Vaudvillian father, and a Beauty
pageant winning mother coursing through her veins, Francene was
destined to be a punk rockin', leopard skin-wearing, ukelele-playing
contestant on Chuck Barris' $1.98 Beauty Contest. Little did she know
back then, that she would be working with award-winning directors, from
both big & small screens, and on award-winning projects.
Most recently, Francene has cast FOX's upcoming unscripted improv
comedy, Free Ride, airing March 1st along with last years' sleeper hit,
Significant Others, on Bravo. Always on the cutting edge, Francene has
lent her talents to a variety of different projects from dramatic music
videos to hard-hitting PSAs to interactive internet games. It's never a
dull moment at Shooting From the Hip;you never know where Francene will
end up next. Directing, perhaps.
