Variety: Dave McNary shares the news that the Directors Guild of America, which earlier this week announced its five DGA Award nominees in the feature film category, has now unveiled its five DGA Award nominees in the documentary category. They are: Lixin Fan for “Last Train Home,” Charles Ferguson for “Inside Job,” Alex Gibney for “Client 9: The Rise and Fall of Eliot Spitzer,” Davis Guggenheim for “Waiting for ‘Superman’,” and Tim Hetherington and Sebastian Junger for “Restrepo.” All are first-time DGA nominees except for Gibney, who was previously nominated for “Taxi to the Dark Side” (2007), which went on to win the best documentary (feature) Oscar. As we reported in June (Bummer! Sean Penn Says No to "Three Stooges" Among Others!), Sean Penn left Peter and Bobby Farrelly's planned production of "The Three Stooges."
But now, Mark Shanahan of The Boston Globe is saying that the Farrelly brothers have signed on Paul Giamatti to replace Penn as Larry!
Benicio Del Toro is still set to play Moe! Not looking so great though, is Jim Carrey's participation as Curly. Apparently, the star is not going to say n'yuk, n'yuk, n'yuk.
But the Farrely brothers know who they want, they're just not revealing the name right now. Stay tuned...

In a multimillion dollar deal, Universal Pictures and Working Title have acquired the script "The Troubleshooter" by John Hamburg. Hamburg also will direct and produce the movie, which also will be produced by Working Title's Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner. The comic thriller follows a mild-mannered TV installation technician who, after a case of mistaken identity, goes on the run from a pair of killers. The script is based on a story by Hamburg and Mark Shanahan.
