An animated superhero movie featuring Marlon Brando? A Bill Murray comedy? Just two of the strange, starry films we may never get to see.
Film history is littered with movies that have wound up on the shelf for some reason, either because of financial difficulties or, in the case of The Day The Clown Died, because its director and star decided it was too embarrassing to be released. We've written about all sorts of shelved or cancelled films before, from Roger Corman's infamous Fantastic Four to the unreleased John Goodman comedy, Spring Break '83.
Every so often, though, we'll hear about curious-sounding projects that generate a bit of news before vanishing again. An animated film featuring the voices of Marlon Brando and Brendan Fraser, perhaps, or a modern comedy about old Greek gods featuring Christopher Walken as Zeus.
Here, then, are five strange, star-laden movies that,...

It’s finally time for Homer Simpson and Peter Griffin to bro down and drink up. Blackhat
Legendary's panel at Comic Con yesterday confirmed that Michael Mann's new thriller previously titled "Cyber" has scored a new name - "Blackhat". The Chris Hemsworth-led film is scheduled for a mid-January release but will score a limited theatrical run in late December to potentially qualify for awards consideration.
Footage was screened showcasing a globe-hopping thriller, but in the same grainy style of Mann's films like "Collateral" and "Miami Vice". Hemsworth plays a convict who is released to team up with a group of Americans and Chinese in a hunt for a high-level cybercrime network operating around the world. The action runs from Chicago to Los Angeles to Hong Kong to Jakarta.

"Family Guy" hit Ballroom 20 on Saturday (July 26) for its annual Comic-Con panel, an event with kinda tends to ebb and flow in hype based on whether or not Seth MacFarlane is there to mock question-askers. This was a second consecutive Seth MacFarlane-free year. Last year he was working on "A Million Ways To Die In The West." This year, his absence was unexplained [on the "Family Guy" panel, but it came up at "American Dad" subsequently] and raises the possibility that Seth MacFarlane has just become too big for making fun of questioners at Comic-Con. Fortunately, in lieu of Seth MacFarlane, the "Family Guy" team arrived with a longer clip reel for the season's hour-long "The Simpsons Guy" crossover event, which will air on September 28. At TCA press tour last week we got a very brief sizzle reel that included jokes about the Springfield location ("I can't imagine we're allowed to...

If you’ve always wondered what would happen if Peter Griffin and Homer Simpson hung out at a bar while Bart and Stewie made prank phone calls, Family Guy is about to satisfy your crossover craving. In the Sept. 28 season premiere, “The Simpsons Guy,” the albino Griffins wind up by accident in Springfield, where they are greeted warmly by the hepatits-y Simpsons. But a fast friendship christened with delicious doughnuts may be forever destroyed by an argument over Pawtucket Patriot Ale and Duff Beer, which leads to an epic chicken fight.

Step Up 3
Let me start off this review by saying fairly that the film “Step Up 3″ is definitely not my cup of tea. But I don’t really think the movie is aimed towards myself, but rather people that are interested and participate in the human ritual of rhythmic motion known as dancing.
Here’s the story: Moose (Adam G. Sevani) & his lifelong best friend Camille (Alyson Stoner) have just started school at Nyu. Moose’s parents are saying goodbye & couldn’t be happier that their son has set aside his foolish desire to dance to instead focus on earning his Engineering degree. No sooner do his parents leave him be does Moose stumble onto an impromptu dance-off. Moose injects himself into the contest & his moves catch the eye of Luke (Rick Malambri), an amateur filmmaker & dancer who heads up The House of Pirates, a local dance squad...

I found myself with a dilemma in a department store the other day. In one hand, I had Family Guy’s new Star Wars spoof, “It’s a Trap”. In the other hand, I had Metalocalypse season three. Due to price and limited funds, I put Metalocalypse back on the shelf. As mistakes go, that one was a big one.
Being a huge Star Wars geek, I’ve enjoyed the previous installments of Family Guy’s spoofs, Blue Harvest (the spoof for A New Hope) and Something, Something, Something Dark Side (the spoof for The Empire Strikes Back). However, where there was a general feeling of cast and crew interest in the previous episodes, this one lets you know right off the bat that no one had their hearts in it. We start out like the first two did, with the Griffin family sitting in front of the television, when the power goes out.

Family Guy: It’S A Trap
Stars (the voices of): Seth MacFarlane, Alex Borstein, Seth Green, Mila Kunis | Written by David A. Goodman, Seth MacFarlane | Directed by Peter Shin
Another year, another Family Guy Star Wars spoof, and as Stewie says at the beginning of the episode: “We’re about to do Jedi, aren’t we?” Yes it’s the last (hopefully) of the animated parody’s of George Lucas’ sci-fi classics, taking on what many see as the lesser of the original trilogy, Return of the Jedi. So does this make for a lesser spoof? Well frankly yes.
The plot follows Jedi pretty closely, with Luke Skywalker (Chris) and Princess Leia (Lois) attempting to free Han Solo (Peter) by infiltrating the palace of Jabba the Hutt (Joe) before teaming up with the Ewoks to take out the Imperial base on Endor, whilst the Emperor (Carter Pewterschmidt) and...

Chicago – The opening crawl of “Family Guy: It’s a Trap!” jokingly suggests that the viewer should lower his expectations since the writers had totally run out of steam by this point and were pressured by Fox into doing a spoof of “Return of the Jedi” to close out their “Star Wars” trilogy, now released in one Blu-ray set known as “Laugh It Up, Fuzzball: The Family Guy Trilogy.” The warning is somewhat accurate (although that’s largely because “Jedi” is the least-interesting film to spoof) but there’s still some damn funny stuff in here and fans of either Lucas or MacFarlane don’t want to miss it.

From a galaxy far, far away the third and final instalment of the Family Guy spoof Star Wars Trilogy, It’s A Trap, comes exclusively to Blu-ray, DVD and Digital Copy on December 27th from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment.
Produced by the creator of Family Guy, Seth MacFarlane, and following the hugely successful Star Wars and The Empire Strikes back parodies – Blue Harvest and Something, Something, Something Darkside – It’s A Trap offers more lightsaber sharp wit as Return of the Jedi gets a Family Guy style makeover.
After saving Han Solo (Peter) from Jabba the Hutt (is that Alec Baldwin?!) and an eternity frozen in carbonite, it’s down to Luke (Chris), Leia (Lois), Han and Chewie (Brian) to topple the evil Empire once and for all. While Vader (Stewie) and Emperor Palpatine (Carter Pewterschmidt) are building a second Death Star to crush the Rebel Alliance, Luke tries...
