Silex, the up-and-coming Parisian production banner, is producing “Stalk,” a high-concept, contemporary series skewing millennials for France.tv, the streaming service of French broadcasting group France Televisions. The series was co-created, co-writen and will be directed by Simon Bouisson, who previously helmed the critically acclaimed web series “Wei or Die.”
Written by Bouisson and Jean-Charles Paugam, “Stalk” follows the rise and fall of Lux, an 18 year-old hacker who got hazed and humiliated by the coolest students during his first days at a prestigious engineering school and sets off to take his revenge. His plan consists in cyber-stalking them, hacking their phones and computers to discover their secrets and integrate their clan to ultimately manipulate them.
Priscilla Bertin and Judith Nora, who are producing at Silex Films, described “Stalk” as a psychological drama featuring an ultra-smart protagonist similar to Jesse Eisenberg in “The Social Network.”

Robert Zemeckis' new film, The Walk, might just churn your stomach. For good reasons...
Whether it really happened or was just turn-of-the-century PR spin, the story about the audience running away in panic from the film of an approaching train at an 1896 Lumière brothers screening is an irresistible one. Not because it lets us smirk at the naiveté of the past, but as the first instance of an audience colluding in cinema’s essential lie.
If those Parisians ran away from a flickering black and white image soundtracked only by the clack-clack-clack of the projector, they didn’t do it for self-preservation; they did it as willing players in a thrilling game. The train wasn’t real. They knew the train wasn’t real. And yet, perhaps, they ran.
A century and change later, visual effects pioneer Robert Zemeckis has pulled the same impressive stunt. In The Walk, his...

Robert Zemeckis's The Walk "does not hit its stride right away," grants A.O. Scott in the New York Times. But then Philippe Petit teams up with Annie, a busker played by Charlotte Le Bon. "Joining them are a photographer named Jean-Louis (Clément Sibony) and a math whiz named Jean-François (César Domboy) who is afraid of heights. Philippe’s mentor is an irascible Czech funambulist played, as an irascible Czech funambulist in a movie of this kind must be played, by Ben Kingsley." Together, they "begin heir infiltration of the as-yet-unfinished World Trade Center. Almost magically, The Walk transforms itself into a beguiling caper movie." There’s a lot of buzz surrounding Robert Zemeckis’ The Walk, and it’s not hard to understand why, especially when you watch the five new clips released above. The movie stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt as high-wire walker Philippe Petit, and his story is no doubt one you’ll be very familiar with if you’ve seen James Marsh’s Oscar-winning documentary Man On Wire.
Despite some already being familiar with Petit, The Walk looks set to be a technical achievement thanks to its use of 3D to tell the story. Visually, it looks pretty damn impressive, and with Gordon-Levitt and Zemeckis steering the ship, the film will likely find itself earnings some awards attention this year.
Also starring Charlotte Le Bon, Ben Kingsley, James Badge Dale, Ben Schwartz, Clément Sibony and César Domboy, The Walk is set to be released on October 2nd.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt may have lost out on a possible Oscar nod when Oliver Stone’s timely drama Snowden bowed out of this year’s awards circuit, but the actor still has a horse in the race, so to speak, with Robert Zemeckis’ upcoming real-life drama, The Walk.
Boasting a near unparalleled sense of scale and grandeur, it’s rather apt for the director’s new film to receive an extensive IMAX trailer, spotlighting the impressive visual effects that will be bringing Philippe Petit’s daring feat to life like never before. Gordon-Levitt is on board to topline the white-knuckle ride as the French wire artist, who dared to dream in 1974 by walking across a tightrope strung between the Twin Towers. Not only did Petit pull off the remarkable stunt, as he tip-toed along the New York City skyline, but he managed to cross the rope several times, even lying down at one point.

Wow. What an accent.
The first, full trailer for director Robert Zemeckis’ The Walk shows just how high the wire will be (and gives us massive vertigo). The film stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Charlotte Le Bon, Ben Kingsley, James Badge Dale, Ben Schwartz, Clément Sibony and César Domboy.
The film is an adaptation of the documentary, Man on Wire, which chronicles the stunt pulled by Philippe Petit in 1974 when he tightrope walked across the Twin Towers in New York City. Gordon-Levitt stars as Petit.
The first teaser was more of a hint at the visuals, and offered a look at Gordon-Levitt as Petit, but didn’t dive into the real plot.
While the story is definitely interesting, it will be interesting to see if Zemeckis can pull off an adaptation of this documentary that is revered as one of the best of all-time. It doesn’t help that Gordon-Levitt, who is an immensely talented actor,...

Joseph Gordon-Levitt, along with a French accent, stars as Philippe Petit in the latest trailer for TriStar Pictures’ The Walk.
Twelve people have walked on the moon. Only one has ever, or will ever, walk in the immense void between the World Trade Center towers.
Philippe Petit (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), guided by his real-life mentor, Papa Rudy (Ben Kingsley), is aided by an unlikely band of international recruits, who overcome long odds, betrayals, dissension and countless close calls to conceive and execute their mad plan. Robert Zemeckis, the master director of such marvels as Forrest Gump, Cast Away, Back to the Future, Polar Express and Flight, again uses cutting edge technology in the service of an emotional, character-driven story.
With innovative photorealistic techniques and IMAX® 3D wizardry, The Walk is genuine big-screen cinema, a chance for moviegoers to viscerally experience the feeling of reaching the clouds.

Leave it to Robert Zemeckis to make one man balancing on a tightrope more of a visual spectacle than anything else hitting theaters this fall – and that’s including trips to Neverland, future dystopias and Gothic haunted houses. Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays French daredevil Philippe Petit in The Walk – and in the new trailer for the pic, adapted from Petit’s book To Reach the Clouds, he appears to have one of the most exciting – and physically demanding – roles of his career.
Petit’s story – involving an illegal wire walk between the World Trade Center towers in 1974 – was last adapted to film in James Marsh’s documentary Man on Wire, which won an Oscar back in 2008.
Here’s the official synopsis:

“The caper is really compelling. It’s outrageous,” Robert Zemeckis told EW about the true tale at the heart of "The Walk." “It’s the story of an artist who risks his life to create a performance.” And to honor that feat, the director is hoping to make 3D-weary audiences care about the format once again. Joseph Gordon-Levitt takes the lead in the movie playing Philippe Petit, who walked on a literal tightrope between the World Trade Center towers in 1974. Ben Kingsley plays his mentor with James Badge Dale, Ben Schwartz, Charlotte Le Bon, Clément Sibony and César Domboy among the folks who collaborated with Petit to make it happen. If this all sounds familiar, that's because it wasn't that long ago when James Marsh told the tale in his Oscar-winning documentary "Man On Wire." But that wasn't in photo-realistic IMAX 3D, so... "The Walk" arrives on October 2, 2015. Watch below.

We’ve already seen one stunningly good film about Philippe Petit’s illegal walk between the World Trade Center towers in James Marsh’s Oscar-winning documentary Man on Wire, and now we may be getting another. Next fall, Robert Zemeckis will unveil The Walk, which dramatizes the events of Petit’s book To Reach the Clouds: My High Wire Walk Between the Twin Towers with 50/50 star Joseph Gordon-Levitt playing the daredevil.
Seeing as Zemeckis is working in IMAX 3D, The Walk is certainly going to be a gripping adventure for the senses, but the cast that the director has employed also suggests that the movie could be a major awards presence. Gordon-Levitt, looking very much like Petit in the new images from the film which dropped yesterday, is joined by Charlotte Le Bon, playing a member of Petit’s crew, and Ben Kingsley, portraying his mentor Papa Rudy. Producer Tom Rothman describes as “Gravity meets Ocean’s Eleven.” It will be interesting to see how Zemeckis brings his own brand of visuals to the story; I suspect it’s going to be thrilling movie to watch, especially on IMAX! The film also stars Charlotte Le Bon, Ben Kingsley, James Badge Dale, Ben Schwartz, Clément Sibony and César Domboy.
The Walk opens in 2D, 3D, and IMAX 3D on October 2, 2015.

Kylie Minogue will release Kiss Me Once, her first studio album in four years, on March 17th, and the first single “Into The Blue” has been met with squee’s and critical acclaim.
She’s just released the music video, a fast moving ode to glamor and nightlife, which features French actor Clément Sibony (I judge all actors by by how much on-screen nudity they’ve done in their career. Clément scores a perfect ten).
Kylie looks fabulous … and she’s totally earned all of the soft focus.

Take This Waltz (15)
(Sarah Polley, 2011, Can/Spa/Jap) Michelle Williams, Seth Rogen, Luke Kirby, Sarah Silverman, Jennifer Podemski. 116 mins
This is almost the opposite of a romcom: it deals with the prospect of a happy couple breaking up, as Williams is tempted away from cuddly partner Rogen by a handsome, wholesome neighbour. Which is better? The solid, stable kind of love, or the whirlwind, passionate kind? There are some irritating quirks, but on the whole it's an intelligent, truthful drama exploring guilt, regret, confusion and other grown-up emotions generally absent from the summer movie season.
The Bourne Legacy (12A)
(Tony Gilroy, 2012, Us) Jeremy Renner, Rachel Weisz, Edward Norton. 135 mins
It's really the Damon legacy we're talking about here, and whether Renner can plug the Matt-shaped hole in the action franchise. He's got the right mix of acting and one-man-death-machine skills for the job, though this story of shady government operatives...

Yves Caumon's study of a woman's disintegrating life unspools calmly and gently
French film-maker Yves Caumon has co-written and directed a delicate, sad study of loneliness. It stars Sandrine Kiberlain as Anne, who works in a food preparation facility in Bordeaux, something less grand than a restaurant kitchen, apparently supplying meals in bulk to office cafeterias. Kiberlain, with her distinctive intelligence, angular elegance and willowy height, confers on Anne a haughty and unhappy reserve. She is on her own; her ex-partner has started a new family with someone else, and tragedy lies behind their split. Raphael (Clément Sibony) is a handsome, conceited chef who is hitting on her at work, but Anne's sole romantic spark comes at the cinema, finding a connection with a total stranger in the next row, Claude (Serge Riaboukine), who like her is crying at Mizoguchi's Life of Oharu. But what disturbs Anne most is...

The Bird (L’Oiseau)
Written by Yves Caumon
Directed by Yves Caumon
2011, France
A decade ago Sandrine Kiberlain starred in Claude Miller’s thriller Alias Betty, as the bereaved mother at the centre of a bizarre kidnap plot. Her character in Yves Caumon’s The Bird has also lost a child, but this is a very different kind of story – a character study that puts the focus squarely on Kiberlain’s superlative performance.
The Bird does take its time revealing the backstory of Anne (Kiberlain), an attractive but rather aloof blonde who works as a kitchen hand in Bordeaux. Fending off the attentions of handsome chef Raphaël (Clément Sibony), she returns to an empty apartment, a sink full of dirty dishes and unexplained noises that keep her awake.
Caumon’s screenplay prefers the slow accumulation of details about Anne’s daily routine, rather than much in the way of dialogue.

The Tourist is released this Friday in UK cinemas and it’s one we’re rather excited about. It has a great cast which includes Johnny Depp, Angelina Jolie, Rufus Sewell, Clément Sibony, Bruno Wolkowitch, Timothy Dalton, Paul Bettany and is directed by a man with possibly the coolest name on Earth, Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck.
Our friends from Upbeat got to travel to the junket last week in France and have given us this exclusive interview with the director of the movie, and also producer, Graham King who talks about how the movie came about and some of the inspiration behind it. Florian gives us an insight in working with Hollywood megastars, Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie and tells us that when they’re onset, you don’t seem them like that at all, they’re just great actors.

Columbia Pictures have released these rather nice new high resolution image for their new movie, The Tourist. We got to see another trailer for the movie earlier in the week and it’s one I’m quite looking forward to!
The Tourist stars Angelina Jolie, Johnny Depp, Paul Bettany, Rufus Sewell, Timothy Dalton, Steven Berkoff, Clément Sibony and is directed by Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck.
Synopsis: Johnny Depp stars as an American tourist whose playful dalliance with a stranger leads to a web of intrigue, romance and danger in The Tourist. During an impromptu trip to Europe to mend a broken heart, Frank (Depp) unexpectedly finds himself in a flirtatious encounter with Elise (Angelina Jolie), an extraordinary woman who deliberately crosses his path. Against the breathtaking backdrop of Paris and Venice, their whirlwind romance quickly evolves as they find themselves unwittingly thrust into a deadly game of cat and mouse.

When I saw the first images for the new Angelina Jolie / Johnny Depp movie, I thought it looked like a nice little trip to Venice but now that I’ve seen this new teaser trailer (from ComingSoon), I can think again as it looks like an action packed fest with a rather odd accent coming from Mr. Depp!
The Tourist also stars Paul Bettany, Rufus Sewell, Timothy Dalton, Steven Berkoff, Clément Sibony and is directed by Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck.
Synopsis: Revolves around Frank (Depp), an American tourist visiting Italy to mend a broken heart. Elise (Jolie) is an extraordinary woman who deliberately crosses his path.
According to our friends at Filmdates, it’s going to be with us Friday, 10th December. Check out the teaser trailer below and let us know what you think. You can also see the full trailer for the movie here.

A cinematheque curator would have a tough time running a series on French filmmaker Yves Caumon. Unlike the prolific Ozon, Caumon, a full time film professor takes his time between his film - his notable first two have been the Cannes selected 2001's Amours d’enfance and 2005's Cache-cache. Cineuropa.org reports that Caumon's third film has taken flight. L'oiseau which has already begun lensing with Sandrine Kiberlain (Mademoiselle Chambon) in the lead, alongside Clément Sibony, Bruno Todeschini and Serge Riaboukine. Scripted by Caumon, the film centres on Anne (Kiberlain) who has lost a child. With no friends and no love, her life seems to be over already. Nobody sees or notices her and she ensures it stays that way. She effectively retires from life, in the middle of everyone. But one day, years later, a bird falls into the chimney shaft of her home and everything changes. Logic would...
