Kenan Thompson’s comedy “Kenan” has been canceled after two seasons by NBC, Variety has learned.
Starring Thompson and produced by “Saturday Night Live” boss Lorne Michaels, “Kenan” follows the life of busy single dad Kenan Williams (Thompson), who is juggling a high-profile job as host of Atlanta morning show “Wake Up With Kenan!” He’s also raising two adorable pre-teen daughters — the too smart Aubrey (Dani Lane) and the silly, unpredictable Birdie (Dannah Lane). As Kenan moves on from the loss of his wife a year earlier, his live-in father-in-law Rick (Don Johnson), his brother/manager/roommate Gary (Chris Redd) and his colorful co-workers all have strong opinions on the best way for him to live his life.
Along with Thompson, Dani and Dannah Lane, Don Johnson and Redd, “Kenan” stars Kimrie Lewis and Taylor Louderman.

Kenny Smith is moving from Disney to NBCUniversal.
The Black-ish co-showrunner has struck an overall deal with Universal Television. He was previously under a three-year overall deal at ABC Studios.
Smith will develop and produce projects across various platforms for the studio and also recently joined Universal Television’s and NBC’s comedy series Kenan as co-showrunner alongside David Caspe. The Kenan Thompson-fronted comedy is returning for a second season.
In addition to taking over from Kenya Barris as co-showrunner of ABC comedy Black-ish, he developed a number of projects at the Disney-owned studio, including None of the Above, which was ordered to pilot at Freeform.
Other TV credits include NBC’s Marlon, ABC’s Uncle Buck and BET’s The Game.

Trudie Styler and Celine Rattray's Maven Pictures, along with Federal Films' David Schulhof and Monte Lipman, have signed on to produce "Rollin' Thunder," a comedy set in Atlanta's hip-hop scene, the companies announced in a statement on Tuesday.
