Beyoncé made history at the 2023 Grammy Awards when she became the most-awarded person in the Recording Academy’s history, with a total of 32 golden gramophones to her name. The “Alien Superstar” singer took the stage to accept her thirty-second Grammy Award at the ceremony and gave an emotional speech thanking those important to her. But for retired basketball star Magic Johnson, more should’ve been done to mark the momentous occasion.

Klaus Mäkelä, the first conductor signed to Decca for forty years, brings the Orchestre de Paris to the label for a major new album of Stravinsky’s most iconic ballet scores. The album represents Mäkelä’s first recording with his French orchestra, which will be followed by a further Ballet Russes release in 2024 featuring Stravinsky’s Petrushka and Debussy’s Jeux and L’Apres midi d’une faune.
Klaus Mäkelä has electrified the musicians and audiences of the Orchestre de Paris since the start of his Music Directorship in September 2021. One of the major projects of his second season at the Philharmonie de Paris was a traversal of Stravinsky’s pivotal ballet scores The Firebird and The Rite of Spring that proved anything but routine. The performances captured live on Decca’s new release carry the combination of intensity, intelligence and authority on which the young conductor is building his extraordinary career.

There were plenty of memorable moments from the 2023 Grammys. However, the most controversial moment arrived at the very end when Harry Styles beat Beyoncé for Album of the Year. Many were surprised by the decision as many considered Beyoncé the frontrunner for the Grammy. However, her husband, Jay-Z, may have been expecting it as he criticized the award before the upset occurred.

Most wins ever
The Grammys made it their mission for everyone to know of perhaps the biggest record broken this century: Beyoncé earning the most wins for any artist ever in Grammy history. Prior to the ceremony, the singer had 28 wins and was tied with Quincy Jones for the second most ever. First place belonged to conductor Georg Solti, who had racked up 31 wins by the late 1990s when he died. However, Beyoncé racked up nine nominations this year, so many people expected her to break the record. As such, it wasn’t really...

BBC News has issued an apology after accidentally running a photo of Viola Davis alongside a headline about Beyoncé.
During the broadcaster’s Sunday (5 February) night live coverage of the 65th Annual Grammy Awards, they showed an old Golden Globe image of Davis behind a chyron, which read: “Beyoncé’s big night.”
Immediately following the error, numerous viewers responded on Twitter, with one sharing a screenshot of the moment with the caption: “Who’s gonna tell @BBCNews?”
“I’m guessing it’s a mistake but with all their resources BBC have zero excuse for this,” a second responded.
Acknowledging their blunder, BBC News tweeted an apology on Monday (6 February).
“We apologise for the mistake last night when our news channels briefly showed a photograph of Viola Davis from January’s Golden Globes alongside a headline about Beyoncé at yesterday’s Grammys,” they wrote.
“This fell below the BBC’s usual standards.

Beyoncé broke the record for the most Grammy wins of all time for an individual artist with her win for Best Dance/Electronic Album.
Even before the televised show started, she won two awards – Best Dance/Electronic Recording for “Break My Soul” and Best Traditional R&b Performance for “Plastic Off the Sofa.” She then won Best R&b Song for “Cuff It” before breaking the record with her fourth win of the night.
Her win in the Best Dance/Electronic Album category for Renaissance made her the first black woman to earn the award.
During her acceptance speech, Beyoncé thanked her late “Uncle Jonny,” who she cited as an influence to her exploration of dance music.
“I’d like to thank the queer community for your love and for inventing the genre,” the singer went on to say.

The 2023 Grammys was set up as Beyoncé’s Revenge; a comeback match against fellow multiple nominee Adele. When these two superpowers of female fortitude and redemption last clashed in 2017, the Brit singer swept the board – and expressed her dismay in her Album of the Year acceptance speech. “I can’t possibly accept this award. I’m very humbled and very grateful and gracious, but [the] artist of my life is Beyoncé. The Lemonade album was so monumental,” she sobbed. It was the second time running that Beyoncé had been robbed of the Aoty gong, having lost out to Beck in 2015.
So, though host Trevor Noah spared no airtime in keeping viewers informed as to Queen Bey’s progress towards becoming recipient of the most number of Grammys ever – 32, beating the record previously held by Hungarian-British conductor Georg Solti – all eyes were on the final award of the night, the 65th Grammys’ very own Rocky Balboa moment.

Los Angeles, Feb 6 (Ians) Beyonce’s record-breaking status will not completely mollify fans who think she should have won album of the year or record of the year by now, notes ‘Variety’.
On Sunday night, those awards went to Harry Styles and Lizzo, respectively. The song of the year trophy, which she has won just once in the past, when she was still a member of Destiny’s Child, went to Bonnie Raitt.
Before the 2023 Grammys, according to ‘Variety’, the record for most Grammy wins was held by the 31 claimed by classical music figure Georg Solti — a benchmark set all the way back in 1997 when he earned his final prize, for best opera recording. Solti died that same year.
Beyonce led the 2023 nominations with nine, putting her in a tie for all-time Grammy nominations with her husband, Jay-Z — 88 each. Beyonce’s tally includes her pre-solo work as Destiny’s Child member.

Beyoncé made the biggest news of the night Sunday at the 65th annual Grammy Awards.
The singer led the 2023 Grammy Awards nominations with a total of nine. Beyoncé’s career total of 88 nominations set a new record — one tied by her husband Jay-Z, who earned five noms this year. During the Premiere Ceremony, the pop star picked up two Grammys, breaking her 28-win tie with Quincy Jones. She also won best R&b song during the live broadcast, for “Cuff It,” tying late conductor Georg Solti’s 31-win record. She wasn’t there to accept that award, having experienced a very L.A. annoyance — being stuck in traffic — but arrived later during the ceremony, with host Trevor Noah presenting her the Grammy while she was seated in the audience. Later in the show, she won best dance/electronic album for Renaissance, beating Solti’s record, with a total of 32 career wins.

Beyoncé has broken the career Grammy Awards record and is now the most-awarded artist of all time.
Going into the live telecast of the Grammys, Beyoncé only needed two more wins to top the late composer Georg Solti’s record of 31 wins. During the CBS broadcast, Beyoncé tied the record after she took a win for “Cuff It” for Best R&b Song and broke it with a win for Best Dance/Electronic Music Album.

Beyoncé has officially won the most Grammys out of any artist in history. She reached this groundbreaking milestone before the 2023 Grammy Awards broadcast even concluded. With pre-broadcast wins for songs off of her multi-nominated Renaissance album — Best Dance/Electronic Recording and Best Traditional R&b Performance — the singer already took second place for most career Grammys wins ahead of Quincy Jones during the February 5 ceremony. She and Jones were previously tied with 28 wins. Conductor Georg Solti was previously sitting in first with 31, meaning Queen Bey only needed to win four out of her nine total nominations this evening to make history. “Cuff It” won Best R&b Song during the broadcast (presented by brand new E.G.O.T. winner Viola Davis), bringing Beyoncé to a tie with Solti. The fourth and pivotal win was for Best Dance/Electronic Album, officially cementing her as the most-winning artist in Grammys history.

Beyoncé can do no wrongs, yes. But when you’re about to beat a Grammy record… shouldn’t you call your Uber a tad early? We’ll let it slide, Bey! During Sunday’s Grammys telecast, Beyoncé tied the record for most Grammy nominations — and wasn’t there (yet) to accept her award for Best R&b Song for “Cuff It.”

If there's one thing Beyoncé is going to do, it's keep her fans on their toes. The "Cuff It" singer's attendance at the annual show is always up in the air - and she took the will she/won't she anticipation up another notch this year!
Despite the fact that Beyoncé's arrival at the star-packed Crypto.com Arena was teased during E!'s "Live From the Red Carpet" coverage, the singer never did show up, leaving fans wondering where the performer was.
Things then got extra confusing when the now-egot-status actor Viola Davis presented Beyoncé with the award for best R&b song for "Cuff It." The-Dream (one of the song's producers) and Nile Rodgers (one of the songwriters) accepted the award. To everyone's relief, host Trevor Noah clarified what was going on: Beyoncé was on her way to the show, but held up in traffic. Later, Noah announced...

All Hail Queen Bey
Beyoncé already has 28 Grammys, and if she wins four more, she will become the most decorated act in the history of the music awards show. She’s nominated for nine honors, giving her a strong chance to surpass the record set by late conductor Georg Solti, who has won 31 Grammys.
A Supreme Journey
Diana Ross is on track to earn her second lifetime achievement award, but she’s still never won a competitive Grammy. That could change: The icon is up for best pop vocal album with her latest album, Thank You, marking her first nomination in 40 years.
Viola “Egot” Davis?
She’s got an Oscar, Emmy and two Tonys, and a Grammy could be next: Davis is nominated for best audiobook, narration and storytelling recording for her memoir, Finding Me. She’s got some competition though: Jamie Foxx, Mel Brooks, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Questlove also are in contention.

Back in 2017, though Grammy voters expressed their love of Beyoncé’s Lemonade with an album of the year nomination, it was Adele’s grand album 25 that won the ultimate honor. It sold 10 million copies within a year in the U.S. alone (unprecedentedly selling 3.38 million units in its first week) — in a climate where hitting 1 million was heroic. “Hello,” indeed!
That storyline could be repeated at the 2023 Grammys, where Beyoncé’s Renaissance and Adele’s 30 again will go head-to-head for album of the year.
But there are other heavyweights ready to disrupt the night: Like Beyoncé, Kendrick Lamar may finally win his first top album trophy thanks to the success of his fifth release, Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers. Bad Bunny’s Un Verano Sin Ti is the most popular album of 2022, not to mention the first Latin project to be nominated for...

One of the most exciting parts of Grammy season is observing those races that could mean more than just a Grammy. In many cases, artists are looking to make awards show history when they get nominated, and in 2023 we might have a few of those coming to fruition.
Beyoncé
Beyoncé is definitely no stranger to awards. The R&b/pop diva is the most nominated artist in Grammy history, tied with her husband and rapper Jay-Z at 88 nominations. Beyoncé is also the most awarded vocalist ever at the Grammys — but not the most awarded person. Composer Georg Solti still holds that record, winning a whopping 31 Grammys compared to Beyoncé’s 28. However, with nine nominations this year, it is not outside the realm of possibility for Beyoncé to at least tie with the late composer. The singer currently leads Gold Derby’s odds to win Album of the Year, Best R&b Performance,...

There’s a chance that Beyonce will be the most nominated artist at the 2023 Grammys. After all, she was the most nominated artist in 2021, and that was despite not even having a new album out. Now she’s in the running with “Renaissance,” but it’s not just in the nominations where she could come out on top. This could be the year she breaks the all-time record to become the most awarded individual in Grammy history.

Beyoncé’s Renaissance album almost never made it to the dance floor — at the Grammys.
Beyoncé submitted the critically acclaimed album for best dance/electronica album at the 2023 Grammys, but the Recording Academy’s dance committee initially felt that it might not be a perfect fit for the genre, according to a source. That group believed that the album might be better placed in pop, where it would be nominated for best pop vocal album alongside projects by Adele, Harry Styles, Lizzo and more.
The debate landed in the hands of the academy’s National Screening Committee — a group of music industry experts including songwriters, producers, musicologists and more — who listened to Renaissance several times to determine where it should compete. That group — which also selects which artists are eligible for best new artist — eventually decided that Beyoncé’s project should be in contention in dance.

Legendary jazz musician Chick Corea died in February 2021 at age 79, a month before that year’s Grammys were held. He won both of his nominations at that event, though voting ended before his death so the awards weren’t influenced by that. This year he received four more nominations posthumously, and he ended up winning two of them. That gives the late artist a total of 27 awards in his career, which ties him for fourth place on the list of the all-time biggest winners in Grammy history. Check out the gallery above for the other artists who have won the most awards in history.
This year Corea won Best Improvised Jazz Solo for “Humpty Dumpty (Set 2)” and Best Latin Jazz Album for “Mirror Mirror.” He was also nominated for Best Jazz Instrumental Album for “Akoustic Band Live,” but that award went to “Skyline” by Ron Carter, Jack DeJohnette, and Gonzalo Rubalcaba.

Brooklyn is having a proud moment on this Tuesday, as Jay-Z has become the most-nominated artist in Grammy Awards history, with his three 2022 noms pushing him to 83. He had previously been tied with legendary producer/composer Quincy Jones at 80.
Jay, who last released an album in 2017, is nominated for guest appearances with Kanye West (whose “Donda” album is up for Album of the Year) and the late Dmx. He currently has 23 wins.
Paul McCartney, previously tied for second place with Beyonce, gains two nods in the rock category and passes her and Jones for sole possession of the No. 2 spot with 81. Neither Jones nor Beyonce are nominated for 2022 awards, although Q did write the liner notes for top nominee Jon Batiste’s “We Are” album.
Jay-Z made his Grammy bow in 1999 with three nods, two from his classic “Vol. 2…Hard Knock Life” album and one for his tag-team with Jermaine Dupri,...

Update, 1:33 Pm: The final numbers are out for the 2021 Grammy Awards, and they’re not going to make the Top 10.
Well, unless you are talking about the Top 10 least watched Grammys ever. Under that metric, the 62nd annual Grammys were #1.
While topping the audience for the most recent Emmys and the Golden Globes respectively, the 8.8 million that the Grammys scored last night cratered 53% from last year’s final results. And the 2.1 rating among adult 18-49 is not only down 61% from the final numbers of the 2020 Grammys, but an all-time low of its own as well.
It is also worth noting that that final 8.8 million who tuned for the Trevor Noah hosted shindig out of Dtla was not just on CBS. The network bundled the data with those who live streamed the primetime ceremony on CBS.com, the CBS app and the newly relaunched Paramount+ streamer. The figures released today...
