After taking a look back at House II: The Second Story (a favorite of mine since childhood), House of 1000 Corpses (which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year), the awesomeness of Tales from the Crypt Presents: Demon Knight, the leg smashing in the Stephen King adaptation Misery, and three separate moments from John Carpenter’s Big Trouble in Little China, JoBlo’s own Lance Vlcek is continuing his The Best Scene video series with a look at a scene from an entry in my favorite horror franchise, Friday the 13th. The film Lance is talking about today is Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood (watch it Here), and the section he’s focusing on is the entire climactic sequence in which iconic slasher Jason Voorhees gets knocked around by the telekinetic abilities of heroine Tina. You can hear all about it in the video embedded above!

Alamo Drafthouse Cinema should offer a special brew spiked with drippings from the Bloodstone to celebrate their newest infernal partnership. After 25 years of dormancy, Full Moon Features is pulling the Sword of Laertes out from the chests of the vampires of Subspecies for a limited theatrical release of its newest open wound. And make no mistake about it, director Ted Nicolaou’s prequel Subspecies V: Bloodrise is a must-watch for Subspecies fans, and a should-see for horror fans in general.
Beginning with Subspecies (1991) and running through Subspecies 4: Bloodstorm (1998), this movie series remained unique, without having to veil its most overt influence—which is all the most classic portrayals of the legendary creature on film or page, particularly by way of eastern European castles. Vampire origins are honored respectfully and malevolently mistreated in equal measure. The films are love letters to Romania, and all its most hidden occult secrets and superstitions,...

Writer/director Ted Nicolaou was really pumping out entries in the Full Moon vampire series Subspecies back in the ’90s. The first Subspecies was released in 1991, Bloodstone: Subspecies II in 1993, Bloodlust: Subspecies III in 1994, the Subspecies-adjacent film Vampire Journals in 1997, and Subspecies 4: Bloodstorm in 1998. And he was fully prepared to keep the series rolling. During an interview with Pop Horror, he confirmed that he originally wrote the screenplay for Subspecies V: Blood Rise – which will receive a one-night theatrical release in thirty to forty cities, courtesy of Alamo Drafthouse, on May 15th – more than twenty years ago!
Nicolaou told Pop Horror, “We basically thought that Subspecies the first one, back in 1990 actually when we were shooting around eight months after the (Romanian) revolution that toppled Ceaușescu, we thought it was a one-off film and that would be it. It wasn’t until we screened it finally for Paramount – because...

When the trailer for the long-awaited Full Moon production Subspecies V: Blood Rise arrived online last month, the expectation was that the movie would be available to watch on FullMoonFeatures.com by the end of February, and would then be available on Amazon Prime Video shortly after its debut. But plans have changed. During a new episode of his Full Moon Universe YouTube show, Full Moon founder Charles Band revealed that Subspecies V: Blood Rise will receive a theatrical release in thirty to forty cities, courtesy of Alamo Drafthouse, on May 15th. The theatrical screenings of Subspecies V: Blood Rise will be a one-night event, and Band is hoping to have a Full Moon representative at each theatre to do giveaways and sell merchandise. Full Moon will also be filming some kind of intro with director Ted Nicolaou and stars Anders Hove and Denice Duff to show before the movie begins.

Days of our Lives spoilers for next week’s episodes of the hit Peacock soap opera tease so much chaos erupting in Salem.
As fall kicks off, big things are happening on the daytime drama, and November sweeps are right around the corner.
One hot-button storyline involves Orpheus (George DelHoyo) injecting Kate (Lauren Koslow), Marlena (Deidre Hall), and Kayla (Mary Beth Evans).
Things take a turn next week. Rex (Kyle Lowder) returns to town with an answer that might save his mother but not Kayla or Marlena. It sounds like Orpheus poisoned them with different deadly toxins, which is not surprising.
Meanwhile, Stephanie (Abigail Klein) is livid that Steve (Stephen Nichols) and Kayla kept her out of the loop.
That’s just a glimpse of what’s going down in Salem. Let’s take a look at the other must-see Days moments for next week.

One of the many horror classics we received from director Wes Craven was the 1977 film The Hills Have Eyes… but when he brought us a sequel the following decade, things didn’t turn out so well. The Hills Have Eyes Part 2 (watch it Here), released in 1985, has a reputation for being a mess – and is known as “the movie where a dog has a flashback”. To find out what went wrong behind the scenes on this sequel, check out the new episode of Wtf Happened to This Horror Movie? in the embed above!
Scripted by Craven, The Hills Have Eyes Part 2 has the following synopsis:
Ignoring the warnings of a survivor of the earlier gruesome ordeal, a group of youngsters set out to take the desert road again. When their bus runs short of gas and they are stranded in the middle of nowhere, the crazed mutants reappear, their blood lust unabated.

“Days of Our Lives” is the Daytime Emmys front-runner for Best Drama Series, according to our racetrack odds, but it was “The Young and the Restless” that ruled the Creative Arts Awards on Sunday night, May 3 (see the complete list of winners here). It took home five trophies in craft categories, more than any other program in any other field. Does that bode well for its chances on Sunday night? Our predictions center is back open, so you can make or update your forecasts here in 21 categories that are yet to be decided.
