- Considered the doyenne of improvisational comedy. She taught dramatics to children and adults at a recreational center in the 30s using story-telling, games, and other modes of self-expression. Her son, Paul Sills, was inspired by her techniques and, as a result, formed the Compass Players and Second City improvisational troupes. She became an invaluable teacher and later authored books on the subject.
