Throughout the month of December, we will be highlighting a film a day that has some tie into the holiday somehow. Some titles will be obvious, others won’t be. Some films will be good and, again, others won’t be. However, we think all titles are worth your time whether to give you chills inside your home or to make you drink more eggnog until you puke laughing.
Ten shopping days before Christmas, and people are being attacked by zombies, but we better not use the zed word because no one else does. Two cops roll up on some deadheads and one tries to gnaw on Jackson’s (Andy Hopper) foot. Thankfully his partner Frank Talbot (Jack Forcinito, not Lon Chaney) shoots his toe off and kills the zombie. Hustle back to Jackson’s second floor apartment and Frank’s wife, Sarah (Nadine Stenovitch) is there fighting off more zombies.

I just finished screening this movie entitled Silent Night, Zombie Night from director Sean Cain. The film co-starred legendary scream queen diva Felissa Rose along with Jack Forcinito, Andy Hopper, Nadine Stenovitch, Lew Temple, Vernon Wells, Sara Tomko, Luke Y. Thompson, Ricardo Gray, John Karyus, Domiziano Arcangeli and Tim Muskatell. Silent Night Zombie Night takes place a week before Christmas, as a viral outbreak turns the citizens of Los Angeles into the feral undead. On the brink of breaking up with both his wife and partner, L.A.P.D. officer Frank Talbot finds himself trapped in a apartment with them. As death closes in, they try not only to survive, but work around the fact both men love the same woman. One thing kept popping up in my mind as I watched the film, the three leads of this film definitely have the presence, the charisma, the acting chops,...

Director/writer: Sean Cain.
Sean Cain has been interviewed here regarding this project, and Silent Night, Zombie Night is heavy on the dramatic, light on the action and character driven (interview here). In other words, Sean Cain is so comfortable with this genre that he manages to add some soap opera elements to a post-apocalyptic world. How is that for confidence?
Silent Night, Zombie Night gets the ball rolling fairly quickly, with a random zombie attack in a quiet driveway. The blood flows, the baseball bats fly, toes get shot off and then the viewer is put right smack in the middle of a three way love story involving characters Frank (Jack Forcinito), Sarah (Nadine Stenovitch) and Nash (Andy Hooper). Silent Night, Zombie Night is only partially a horror film and mostly a drama.
This hat goes off to Jeff Leroy the special effects supervisor on this project, as the...

Sin City is suddenly becoming a genre town. The Blacklist Film Festival brought their indie flavor to Las Vegas; Live Evil hit the Sci-Fi Center; and the Fangoria Trinity Of Terrors took over The Palms.
Now William Powell’s comic shop and grindhouse theater hosts the Las Vegas premiere of Sean Cain’s Silent Night, Zombie Night (which we last covered here). The event, celebrating independent cinema, Christmas and zombies all in one night, takes place December 5 at 8 p.m. and costs $5.
Cain, who Fangoria calls a “Indie Horror Specialist,” will be on hand for a Q&A and autograph signing session after the film, as will producer Wes Laurie, and co-stars Chris Gabriel (”One Long Day,” “Devotion,” “S4″), Chad Clinton Freeman ("Killer Biker Chicks"), Luke Y. Thompson (”Wicked Lake,” “Mad Cowgirl”) and Sean Decker ("Alluvial"). Dread Central's Heather Wixson, aka The Horror Chick, will be hosting the event.

Looks like the crew over at Velvet Hammer Films are close to a premiere for "Silent Night, Zombie Night," with the first teaser available for zombie horror film fans. Set during Christmas time the film, appropriately, will see a late 2009 release date. Involving a three-way love story and streets of blood this low budget film offers more than the typical zombie film. Check out the first trailer below and an excerpt from a previous interview with director Sean Cain.
A synopsis for "Silent Night, Zombie Night," below...

Don’t let the title Silent Night, Zombie Night fool you. While writer/director Sean Cain is clearly paying homage to the campy 80s slasher flick Silent Night, Deadly Night, there’s nothing campy about his latest film.
“Snzn is really the story of three people who emotionally fall apart and come together during a zombie pandemic,” explained Cain. “So while yes, the movie is about zombies, it’s really about these three people dealing with their own issues during a horrific ordeal.”
Taking place a week before Christmas, Snzn is about a viral outbreak that’s unleashed, turning La citizens into the feral undead. While facing the devastating effects of the outbreak, Lapd officer Frank Talbot (Jack Forcinito) is also faced with the decision of whether or not to leave both his wife Sarah (Nadine Stenovitch) and his partner Nash (Andy Hopper).

It’s early December 2008 and in the a.m. when Fango arrives on the set of writer/director/producer Sean Cain’s Silent Night, Zombie Night. And while there isn’t, at first, much to distinguish this seldom-traveled area of North Hollywood, CA from similar areas of the San Fernando Valley, a certain house on the corner—and its copiously blood-splattered facade—let this scribe know he’s in the right place.
A Velvet Hammer Films production, Silent Night, Zombie Night is shooting day six of a scheduled 12 days, and Fango’s on hand not only to document the carnage being unleashed on the mixed-use...
