Confusion over measurements has thrown this year's World Pie Eating competition into crisis. Chef Emma Garner was instructed to make 200 meat potato pies "12 wide and three-and-a-half deep" for the contest, but made all the pastries in inches instead of the required centimetres. Her boss Rob Stewart found out about the error 48 hours before the competition was scheduled to take place in Wigan.
