The distributor has acquired Us rights to Estonia’s foreign language Oscar nominee.
Zaza Urushadze wrote and directed Tangerines, about an Estonian man who cares for two wounded soldiers from opposite sides of the 1990s war in Georgia.
Goldwyn plans to release the film this year after striking the deal with Cinemavault chairman and founder Nick Stiliadis.
“Zaza has created a beautiful film with remarkable performances from his cast,” said Peter Goldwyn. “The writing, directing and acting help balance both the humour and serious tones captured on film. I am very excited to bring this film to a Us audience and wish Zaza and his team the best of luck at the Oscars next weekend.”
“The film has been received warmly by festival audiences in the Us and worldwide, and I am sure it will be loved by American cinema-goers as well because of its important and timely message,” said Urushadze.

Know what we need? We need a movie about super-sized man-eating alligators (in 3D of course) that's rated PG-13 to "maximize the target audience." Didn't anyone learn anything from Shark Night?
Said to mix the humor of Gremlins with the sheer terror and smarts(!) of Deep Blue Sea, Chomp 3D is set against the backdrop of the Louisiana bayou and flavored with Cajun culture. Expect many pools of bloody water and little else. The flick is on sale right now at Efm with no director attached. The flick, if sold, will be produced by Golden Globe nominee Dan Grodnik and executive produced by multiple Indie Spirit nominee Nick Stiliadis. The story is written by Louisiana native, ex-atf agent, and award-winning author and screenwriter Chuck Hustmyre.
Synopsis
A wild storm off the coast of Louisiana sends the Chinese freighter “Sea Dragon” crashing into the break wall and spilling its deadly cargo.
