Thor and Rrr star Ray Stevenson has nabbed the lead role in 1242: Gateway to the West after Kevin Spacey exited the historical Genghis Khan drama last year amid sexual assault charges in the U.K.
Carlos Alperin of Galloping Entertainment, who will continue selling the global rights to the film at the European Film Market in Berlin, confirmed Stevenson’s casting to The Hollywood Reporter. Directed by Péter Soós, the 1242 cast also includes Eric Roberts, Christopher Lambert, Neil Stuke and Genevieve Florence.
“The film is looking simply Epic and will be very well positioned due to Ray Stevenson’s amazing role in Rrr, as well as the political background of the war between Russia and Ukraine,” Alperin told THR in a statement.
Historically, the Mongols invaded both Ukraine and Russia, as well as Poland, before they marched into Hungary in 1242. Alperin added that 1242 has been shooting in Hungary for...

"If you have a second shot, then you really have to take it." Netflix has revealed the official trailer for a comedy titled I Used to be Famous, a feature film adaption of director Eddie Sternberg's award-winning 2015 short film of the same name. This heartfelt dramedy follows Vince, played by Ed Skrein, a desperate former popstar who dreams of making a comeback. An impromptu jam session with autistic young drummer Stevie sparks an unexpected friendship between the two misunderstood musicians. Together they form a unique bond through the power of music while helping Stevie achieve his dreams. Leo Long co-stars as Stevie, with a cast including Lorraine Ashbourne, Eleanor Matsuura, Neil Stuke, Jamie Wannell, Stanley Morgan, and Eoin Macken. This looks quite good, with a sweet story about a popstar realizing (hopefully) that friendship is more important than fame and how music can really change lives. Take a look.

Kevin Spacey will no longer be starring in 1242 – Gateway to the West, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
The news of his departure from the film comes on the same day as a date was set for his U.K. sexual assault trial. On Thursday, the two-time Oscar winner pleaded not guilty to five charges against him, which includes four counts of sexual assault against three men dating back to 2005. Justice Mark Wall, who was overseeing the hearing at London’s historic Central Criminal Court, set the trial date for June 6, 2023.
The actor had been set to star in 1242, a historical Genghis Khan drama that was one of two Spacey-starring features shopped at the 2022 Cannes film market in May. Directed by Péter Soós, the cast also includes Eric Roberts, Christopher Lambert, Neil Stuke and Genevieve Florence.

Jodie Whittaker’s first season of Doctor Who was kept completely easily-accessible to new viewers by doing away with all classic monsters, something that came as a controversial decision for hardcore fans. Whovians were overjoyed, then, when a lone Dalek appeared in the New Year’s Day special “Resolution,” as it promised that more familiar foes would be filtered into the series again in season 12. Sure enough, an old alien has now been confirmed to appear in the next run.
The monsters in question are the Judoon, the rhino-headed race known for their short alien language consisting of “o” sounds. The creatures debuted back in 2007’s “Smith and Jones” opposite David Tennant’s Doctor. They then appeared in numerous smaller cameo roles after that – as well as in an episode of spinoff The Sarah Jane Adventures – but haven’t shown up since 2015.

In what appears to be a further step in expanding its creation of original content, Netflix is to partner with UK’s ITV to co-produce a new eight-part thriller titled Paranoid. The show will be broadcast on UK television before arriving on the streaming platform later in 2016. The television event is being written by Bill Gallagher (Lark Rise To Candleford), and features a seemingly small but tragic incident that leads to international drama.
Paranoid will begin with a young woman doctor being brutally stabbed to death by a masked man while she plays with her three year old son in a busy community play park. The attack occurs in full view of multiple witnesses, and a group of detectives are tasked with investigating the incident, in order to figure out what happened and why. The information from one witness points to a much greater threat than anyone was expecting, however,...

On Sunday, Aug. 25 (check local listings), PBS' "Masterpiece Mystery!" premieres the three-part BBC drama "Silk," created and written by Peter Moffat.
It does feature people in white wigs and robes, but it's not a period piece. Silk fabric does figure in the plot, but nobody's on his or her way to, or returning from, the Far East with bolts of cloth. There's a bar but no juggling of glasses.
Instead, Moffat drew on his experiences as a barrister (in the U.K. split legal profession, they specialize in courtroom advocacy and drafting legal pleadings) to tell the story of up-and-coming junior barristers -- Martha Costello (Maxine Peake) and Clive Reader (Rupert Penry-Jones, "Whitechapel") -- in a barristers' chambers in London, who are attempting to attain the coveted rank of Queen's (or King's) Counsel.

Co-starring are Neil Stuke as Billy Lamb, the senior clerk in the chambers, and Natalie Dormer ("The Tudors") as Clive's pupil,...

ITV has teamed up with Prostate Cancer UK to produce a special film as part of the network's week-long 'Stand by Your Man' campaign.
Ray Winstone, Charles Dance, Tamzin Outhwaite, John Simm and Neil Stuke all star in the 18-minute film, which aims to raise awareness of the disease.
The movie, titled Father's Day, hopes to spark discussion and encourage men to talk more openly about such illnesses and reassure them that they are not alone, reports The Red Pages.
Game of Thrones actor Dance said: "I did recognise the reluctance of the men in the film to talk about such issues, I think that's true.
"While men tend to make more of a drama than women about everyday illness, they tend not to open up as much about more difficult matters."
Father's Day airs on June 16 at 11.45pm on ITV4.

Emma Stone photobombed boyfriend Andrew Garfield last night and the resulting photo is the best thing we've ever seen. As Garfield, dressed in a plaid shirt and brown jacket, flashed a smile for the camera, Stone popped her head up behind him to make a wide-eyed, open-mouthed funny face. The adorable photobombing had Matsuura cracking up during the photo session. The 29-year-old actor and his 24-year-old blond beauty are currently in NYC shooting The Amazing Spider-Man 2...

If there's one thing we love more than seeing photos of criminally cute couple Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield, it's seeing Stone adorably photobomb her beau.
Thursday night, the pair attended the New York opening of the play "Bull," and while Garfield, 29, posed with actors Eleanor Matsuura, James Corden and Neil Stuke, Stone, 24, popped in the picture to make a silly face.
Last summer, Garfield opened up to MTV News about how their easygoing relationship began on the set of "The Amazing Spider-Man."
"We got on really well as people, in between [takes]," Garfield told MTV. "That was the fun stuff: In between, we'd just mess around, and I felt, 'Ah, this is different.' I wasn't really aware what was happening in the screen test. She keeps you on your toes, and that wakes you up. That was the beginning."...

Actress Alex Fletcher has been voted off Celebrity MasterChef after the first quarter-final.
